Looking for References

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I really have no idea of where to put this. So if this is not a good section, just move it.

Im working on a small project for a future portfolio. My idea is to make some enviroment 3D art and test it out real time in Unity/UDK.

What I want to do is something similar to this. I'm not trying to copy it, I had this idea in mind since before that trailer.

The thing is, I'm going to make a city block (dunno how big atm). The setting being 1920-1945. I don't want an ordinary city, I'm aiming for an Authoritarian look and feel although it's not important for what I'm going ask.

To the point. I need references, photos from cities as they were in the 1920-1945 era. European citys would be better. I'm having a hard time finding good pictures. Focusing on streets, buildings, details and stuff.

I remember I've seen some good links here about pictures from that era, although most were people/war related and not really about cities.

Anything could be usefull, so don't be afraid to post.

This are some examples of what Im looking for:

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x232/La...2-1920-1200.jpg (Concept art is good aswell)

A good example of the enviroment I want to create is The Saboteur, the architecture in that game is pretty much what I had in mind. They even nailed it with the flying Zeppelins (Idea I took from Sim Sity Societies).

The only difference I can see from 40' to 50' is the cars.

Not much, and definitely nothing compared to Narcis' but like I said, I don't have the game sad.gif

Edit: I've been searching on L.A Noire screens and tried getting city landscapes and architecture. Here's what I have so far:

I checked allot of places and everything is the same, the game focuses more on the cars, clothes and the change of weather after the prison chapter.

here are some screens from godfather 2, not really what you're looking for, but maybe it will give you new ideas.
