Yeah, find out and post full system specs.

Do you have any mods installed?

Make sure you close all running applications before starting the game.

i think these are my specs

Intel[R] Atom[TM]

CPU 230 @1.60GHz

1.60GHz

0.99 GB of RAM

my ingame settings

1.) i use a windowed version of gta_sa.exe (not illegal juts a d3d9.dll which lets SA run in windowed mode very useful for crashes)

draw distance: 0

frame limiter: on

widescreen:off

visual FX Quality: low

mip mapping:idk what the hell it is cos it never lets me change it it remains off

anti allising: off

screen resoulution: 640 X 480 X 16

since the reinstall i only have about 6 skins (New player model, british police, new police cars, new Sweet)

but for some reason the game is really laggy in Las Venturas, where none of them mods execpt the new player model show up

when i attempted the mission "breaking the bank at caliguas" after the cutscene it was horrible 2/3 PFS

as soon as i got into the casino 40 FPS great speed no lag!

but after robbing the casino the lag returned with a vengance i got into a car and the FPS was 5

and once the game crashed due to lag

i was once on the Freeway in LS when i blew up a load of cars and after 5 mins the FPS dropped to 1 then "gta_sa.exe has encountered a problem"

Try it without the d3d9.dll.And how do you get 40 fps if you have frame limiter on?Frame limited limits your fps to 30,not 40.

i used the GTA FPS limiter and set it to 40 for best performance (works better than the normal FPS limit but not much)

Are you insane? You're trying to run the game with mods on that system of yours? The sooner you realize that your system is incapable of handling modified games properly, the better.

Reinstall the game and delete the gta_sa.set file from the User Files folder. DO NOT install mods.

I've heard of people having issues running SA with SP3. It's better, yes, but not for SA I guess. You might need to run the game in compatibility mode too.

For your mip-mapping question, the setting cannot be changed once you've started a new game or loaded a saved game. You'll have to change it before that.

I completed SA 100% on my XP SP3, and I found absoluty no problems, so I don't think that SP3 ruins the SA.

I'm not saying it ruins the game or anything. But quite a few people have complained about issues on SP3 similar to the ones faced on Vista. Obviously, it's not going to be the same for everyone.

In the OP's case, it'd be best to get a new PC with Win 7.

i used to have XP Professional SP3 and SA worked fine aside from the odd crash but that was rare

i never downgraded my PC got infected with a virus so my moms boyfriends friend fixed my PC by giving me a brand new fresh install of XP Pro SP3

only reason im stuck with XP Home SP 2 is cos of that FB Virus >_<

Wow, you're playing GTA SA on a netbook? Atom processors, also don't expect any more than 2 FPS with Fraps recording. No computer records with Fraps without losing some FPS so there won't be any magical fix. What I can recommend is a full PC upgrade, that's just too weak.

As Girishb has said, Un-install and Delete the .set file in the User Files Folder, then do a Re-install and DO NOT install MODS...This will allow the game to run at avg. speed...Mods kill performance drastically on lower-end PC's, so on that set-up play the game WITHOUT MODS and you will get a little better performance.

To clear up the confusion on SP3, I have played the game on XP Pro SP3, and the ONLY problems I have come across are: (1) the Vista and 7 mouse freeze thing-but all you have to do is esc. in/out of the pause menu a few times to fix this... and (2) the Audio cuts out/skips quite a bit...This one is fixed on Vista and 7 though...This is tested on an Original V2 game with NO Mods/trainers...#2 is ONLY a problem for XP-this was present on SP2 and SP3, as this one was present before I upgraded to SP3...Any fixes for this one-besides a new video card, as I have a laptop, and cannot upgrade the sound card..I also adjusted the Sound Acceleration option too...? confused.gif
