Does this make any sense? Yesterday my mom and I were searching for a new car since our wrecked one was totaled out. We went to Infiniti and found a silver 2013 Infiniti M37 for $44,500 and it was brand new. When my mom asked how much the monthly pay would be, the salesman said it would be $900-1000. I was baffled and my mom instantly thought that was bullsh*t.

Our previous car was $41,000 and the monthly pay was $550 IIRC. Now before the salesman had claimed the that the monthly payment would be $900-1000, he said that he had wanted to buy a $67,000 M56 S but the monthly payment was too high, $700.

So how does that make sense? Should we even get the car or just stick with the Maxima? (I personally wouldn't get a Maxima again)

 

Probably has something to do with credit score. Has your mom's credit score gone down since she bought the Maxima?No, she has perfect credit score according to what she said. It has been good for years.

Yes consumerism combined with the idiotic thought some people get that new expensive cars are more reliable. Thus making it worth shelling out huge sums of money because "it will save money on repairs" which is completely ridiculous and incorrect.

 

I also will only ever purhase a car I can pay cash for.

I dunno, there are some pretty epic lease deals going round in the UK at the moment where you basically end up paying about the cost of 3 year's worth of depreciation on a new car and get free servicing, a warranty and various other perks along with it.

 

Stingray- it could be down to whoever provides the finance; different dealerships use different finance providers and some have better rates than others. You can get much better deals on interest with some car manufacturers (Audi, for instance) than you can with others (Mercedes) even when the purchase costs of the cars are about the same.

Naa, they're generally hire-purchase jobbies. You put down say £2k as deposit and then pay £225 a month over 3 years and it ends up costing about as much as the depreciation on the car would had you bought it outright.

I'm not sure if The "Pay off within 2 years" is true actually. When My dad purchased his most recent vehicle he got it for zero interest and only put money down because he wanted to. And I know for a fact he has more than 2 years to pay it off.

My dad used to have an old charcoal grill back when we used to live up north and holy sh*t, it was f*cking amazing. Getting his blue collar buddies together in the backyard to eat various charcoal-grilled meats and drink beer while listening to the ballgame over the radio while watching the sun set on the Washington DC Suburbs. Amazing times.

What? Its a common practice at Toyota motor company. You can get a standard 5 year finance plan with no interest if you have good credit.
