Does anyone here like to pretend to be a lawyer or law student on the internet? I got a speeding ticket and the webpage is forcing me to either plead Guilty or Nolo Contendre and i'm not sure what is the better choice. Please give me advice, (fake) legal experience required.

I AM SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO, BUT MY WEBCAM IS ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.

A variety of ways.

-Start a business and make it a success

-Inherit a business

-Come from a wealthy family that buys you whatever you want

-Become a pro athlete

-Become a musician/actor etc.

-Do well in the stock market

-Become a high ranking business executive

Many ways to be able to afford an expensive car.

- Rob a bank like Trevor, Michael and Franklin did.

$1.000.000 sizable? Because that is what you're going to need to invest at the very least if you want to qualify for a EB-5 visa and live anywhere close to Los Angeles.

Your best bet is to find a high-level job in the US.

Around half that amount, sadly.

Thus, I see why it would be difficult/ next to impossible to go straight to the US and start up a business.

Indeed, my best bet is finding well-paid employment, and using savings from that to further bolster my financial investment package for my proposed business.

However, with the economy looking rather unstable, I'm against the odds in many regards frankly. Still, America is the land of opportunity! :)

Not if you go for the E-2 visa which doesn't have that limit of $1,000,000 (The EB-2 visa relies on investing in a USCIS approved business, the E-2 doesn't) , although there is no real definitive limit on investment, the general rule of thumb is that the business needs to make a nett profit after all salaries and taxes etc have been paid of more than the average family of fours annual income. The last figure I could find from 2005 is $67,019, so looking at the trend and allowing for inflation, I put that figure around the $75,000 ($80,000 in CA) mark today. So as long as your nett profit is $75,000 or above then you'll be in with a good shout, even more so if you can employ people as well, as job creation is a major plus point. There is rare stories that a business has been started up by someone with as little at $15,000 and that was enough because turnover was so high, but realistically you'll be looking around the $100,000 mark at the moment.

Guilty means you have a record. Nolo Contendre means you aren't guilty but you believe the Prosecution has evidence you can't counter, so you're plea is 'guilty', either way you're buggered. But, some courts will erase the conviction after six months or a couple of years IF you don't have any other charges (merely charged a conviction isn't necessary) against you later. then you are locked up for the first offense regardless of the outcome of the second. Kind of a parole. So neither choice is better than not guilty :^:

Is that fake enough for you? :)

Err... Would anyone be interested in a roleplay thread here? Is that even allowed? I was thinking we all wake up in a strange new post apocalyptic world and we all try to uncover what happened. You can be any character you want - from a movie, TV show, book, etc. - as long as said character doesn't have unfair powers or knowledge.

Just an idea. Though someone else should probably host it since I have pretty much no RP experience.

I would be interested as long as there was a competent and fair gamemaster

You could try it in Gaming Chat since technically it would be a game. I wouldn't lock the topic as long as it's well designed, there's enough interest and it's not too spammy.

How come the GenChat archives only go back to 07 and Gaming chat to 05. whereas some sections go as far back as summer of 2002? Is there like a certain amount of posts where a section starts to become hidden?

Not sure, but I think the GTA III subforum was made first. They probably added gen-chat later.

Well GTA 3 only goes back to 05 as well but Vice City goes back to 02

Well, then they probably made the Vice City section first and then they added the other sections.

We had a crash that hosed the database back then. A lot of forum history was damaged and couldn't be recovered.

Would it be possible for a game server to let people from both Xbox Live and PSN play the same session?

I don't think so. If it were possible, it would've been found out and repeated all over the web.

It should be easily possible, for example it already is between PS3 and PC - You can play Portal 2 co-op with someone on PC whilst you're on PS3.

Yes, PS3 players can play co-op with PC players, but each person needs their own copy of the game. When the code that comes with the PS3 version is added to a Steam account, it ties the Steam account and your PSN account together and unlocks Portal 2 PC.

There's nothing stopping you from giving the code to a friend so they can play it on their PC. You'll have to set up a dummy PSN account on your PS3 for them (or their existing PSN account), start the game, and link their Steam account with the PSN account. However, this means you won't have access to Portal 2 PC on your own Steam account.

Unless I am mistaken, I believe I'm telling the truth. Edited by Kalvin

Too much effort. One runs the core of Windows, one runs the Linux kernel. Leave cross-OS play to PC.

Alright, so I read up on the basics of roleplaying and decided to make this a reality. We'll see how it goes.

What is the risk of getting jailed for using pirated software?

More often than not you won't get any charges against you. Either that or whoever's in charge of tracking down those who use pirated software aren't doing a very good job, considering that all the people I know use pirated software.

I guess a bigger risk is making sure you don't get a virus from pirating software, or something like that. Be careful the next time you download "porn editor plus", you might get your credit card info stolen.

Ha, pretty much this.

It's GTAForums, a forum dedicated to Grand Theft Auto. You know damn well we're being monitored.

Ah well, it is too late for them to stop the bomb.

What kind of things would affect public sector net debt?
