How easy is it for one to relocate from the UK to 'Murica? The VISA system confuses me.

Ideally, I'd like to head to somewhere within 150 miles of Los Angeles, CA.

:)

You have a few options.

• Student Visa

• Employment-Based Visa

• Family Visa

• Marry an American

:)

  • Got a high level qualification in an in-demand work sector
  • Got a shed of money, to either invest in a company or start one up
  • Got an executive position in a company which has US operations to transfer to
  • Got a significant other who is a US citizen
  • In the arts with a proven portfolio of work behind you that staying in the US can further your chosen craft and add to the creative output of America

If you answered Yes to any of those, then you're in luck, if not you are up the creek without a paddle

Boxes ticked. Thanks for the quick response chaps, just needed a simple breakdown of what exactly I need to be allowed in, and it looks like I'm in luck.

I'm not sure there is standard union rate to base it on.

If there is a Union Involved you can bet there is a Rate, that's what they are for.

I hear ya. I was actually shocked when I search for models union for a base price reference and didn't find anything.

For an album cover design (hand drawn artwork) I would charge £375, and that of course involves work.

Therefore paying 1000 euros for a likeness is very generous!

It wouldn't necessarily have to be hand drawn. You can do it using image editing software only but it still takes quite a bit of talent.

That may be so, but if I take into consideration the fact that it would be an honor to have her on my cover makes it seem like a small sum of money.

It seems like you're trying to buy something else with that amount of cash.

$1.000.000 sizable? Because that is what you're going to need to invest at the very least if you want to qualify for a EB-5 visa and live anywhere close to Los Angeles.

Your best bet is to find a high-level job in the US.

Around half that amount, sadly.

Thus, I see why it would be difficult/ next to impossible to go straight to the US and start up a business.

Indeed, my best bet is finding well-paid employment, and using savings from that to further bolster my financial investment package for my proposed business.

However, with the economy looking rather unstable, I'm against the odds in many regards frankly. Still, America is the land of opportunity! :)

So I recently bought a 4 pack of Fentimans CherryTree Cola. On the bottle it says its botanical brewed. What the f*ck does that mean? Tried to google it but no one seems to have an answer.

How do you go about deep frying butter without it melting all over the place? This image raises so many questions/patriotism.

The chilled sticks don't need to be dunked for long.

...is something you probably shouldn't read out loud.

Pretty much the butter is coated in a batter. They then deep fry it long enough to crisp up the batter, then take it out. Apparently it's good, though I haven't tried it yet and doubt I will.

I have never had deep fried butter and I have no idea why considering I will eat anything as long as its been deep fried. Deep fried pickles are good as hell btw. Maybe I will try the butter someday.

Hehe. I would have to be really stupid to do that and expect it to work. I still think it's not a lot. I would normally pay more if I had the money. She's also an artist and that money would also function as a donation to support her work.

There are tons of artists I would love to donate money to. So when I really want to collaborate with someone on something I am willing to pay as much as I can afford even if I don't profit from it.

Yes, I agree and I often do the same. I would rather give money to a fellow artist than the tax-man.

So I suppose you've answered your own question really; pay your model as much as you can afford.

Well that's one way to describe 40 year-old men.

Anyway, I'm just gonna paste this from the tech Q&A section in case anyone here can help. I'm currently using firefox and it's so damn slow...:

When I try to open Google chrome, chrome.exe opens then closes almost immediately. there are two others that do this: setup.exe when uninstalling chrome via the add/remove programs in the control panel, and chromesetup.exe when trying to install chrome (I was thinking it might overwrite whatever's screwing up). No other program does this, including others launching setup.exe. So it's just these three chrome-related programs.

I've tried all the fixes I've found on google, including restarting PC, turning off firewalls and the like. Also, there's nothing coming up in the debug.txt. I'm using XP and the only significant thing I've done lately is update Java.

Thanks in advance.
