Some CPUs and GPUs can be overclocked with the right software, but you really need to know what you are doing. It's easy to damage your hardware permanently.

My mom has a DWI from way back in the 80s we wamt to plan a family trip to Canada but I heard somewhere that if you have a DWI on your record you can't get into Canada. So what are the rules surrounding that?

Is it just me, or are people on the internet from the Baltic countries really weird? There are plenty of people from Russia and other Eastern European countries that seem normal, what makes those from the Baltic weird?

They are part of a chain of countries that have historically been gateway regions between Europe and Asia. This also includes Balkans, Ukraine, Belarus, and Poland. Having been treated as a communal hallway of nearly every major war going back to times of Roman Empire, people of all these regions have understandable idiosyncrasies. General trends include very strong anti-Imperialism, strong desire for independence, and various ways to differentiate self culturally, linguistically, and politically. (Which also explains current events in Ukraine.)

 

Unfortunately, I am not too familiar with history of Baltic states until their inclusion in Russian Empire, and later again, as part of Soviet Union. And while I don't think that's the sole reason they stand out even in this group, keeping above in mind, you can see how it has not helped. They were the first to split from the Union and to establish independent governments. First to embrace their historic languages and culture in place of Russian/Soviet.

 

The other part of the puzzle might be that other countries in that set have always had strong ties to other cultures and empires despite their situation. Ukraine is the historical origin of the Russian Kingdoms. Belarus was also a part of the group from the start. Despite significant political disagreements, we share most of the culture and history. Balkans, well, that's an entire story of its own. Poland used to be an empire in its own right. Baltic states, though, they've seemed to remain mostly independent through all of this, being included in this or that empire, having some power of their own at times, but never really belonging to any larger group. That ought to have had an impact on their culture.

 

So I don't know if this really explains anything, but I can certainly see why they wouldn't fit any Eastern European mold. Of course, even the general "Eastern European" umbrella is a bit too broad to work for all the same reasons.

Yeah, but Ukraine and Poland seem pretty normal to me. The Balkans are annoying because they're too self absorbed with their history which no one else cares about. Never met anyoe from Belarus. (probably because they're a dictatorship)

 

Could it be that none of the Baltic countries have had independence for centuries? For the past 500 years they've been shuffled between Russia, Sweden, Poland, and Germany. That's a pretty weird crowd to hang with.
