Most of it will be fine since it's connected with Fibre Cables which run across the sea floors connecting the continents and then on land it's connected underground. It would only affect remote area connections that use satellite internet

That does make sense indeed. I asked because this BBC article I found made such a big deal of it and I wanted to see other people's view on this.

Well it would still have an impact on a lot of things such as the transport infrastructure (mainly aircraft) is heavily reliant on satellite communication these days through GPS networks and general voice communication. It would mainly affect anything that doesn't have a direct cable connection, short range Wi-Fi, which still connects through local cable, either through the phone line or Cable and ground based radio masts, so a lot of local TV broadcasts, the cellular network which in most countries has a redundancy network through the fibre optic network would be largely but not wholly unaffected.

 

The whole fear that everything would break down is a little over-hyped, as to be honest we did quite well without them in the 50's and earlier and things weren't that bad, yeah you'll get those who can't live 5 minutes without Facebook and might throw a fit which no-one will see because they can't access twitter to go full retard, but to be honest Civilization would be better without them anyway.
