Can our eyes differentiate easier between light shades of low contrast as opposed to dark shades with the same level of low contrast?

Can you give me a smartphone model suggestion?

Do you have a budget? If you're looking for something that performs well and at a very fair price I'd look into the Google Nexus 4. If you can afford to spend as much as you want I'd go for the HTC One or Samsung Galaxy S4 as Android devices and for windows devices I'd pick the Nokia Lumia 920.

Shoumic, you're suggesting those phones because their advertisements always come on TV here in Asia. lol.gif Kidding, I was about to say the same but it depends on his budget, the one and the S4 are a bit costly here in India (around 40,000 Rupees) not sure about other countries though.

Nexus 4 is the best price pick of the bunch. 90% of the performance of the more expensive handsets for half the price.

The only downside is battery, otherwise it's as good as a SGS4 or HTC One

Am I the only one who still has one of those old clunky phones where you can't really use the internet?

No. My Dad and Mom have those phones too, my brother does not have a very good phone either, he just has Nokia X2-01. I always wished I had some of the latest phones though.

Mine isn't clunky, but i own a Blackberry. So the part about not really being able to use the internet still rings true.

I'm pretty sure my phone is from a time when only wankers in suits had blackberries.

It still lasts a good portion of the day with fairly heavy use, though. Well worth the money.

If you expect to be going days without charging your phone while still using it alot then you shouldn't be getting a smartphone imo.

How different is the "proceduraly generated map" of JC2 different from the handcrafted GTA worlds?

I'm not 100% sure what you are asking about but IMO GTA Maps are more detailed JC 2 is a good game and is map is much bigger than GTA maps but it has very little detail. If you're asking about the size JC 2 wins, if you're asking about detail, GTA wins.

That I know. I'm asking about the technicalities.

JC2 isn't procedurally generated. mercie_blink.gif The map is planned and modelled manually. It is not generated automatically by a set of algorithms like in games such as Minecraft.

Ultimately the Just Cause 2 map works the same way as the GTA maps do.

Ultimately the Just Cause 2 map works the same way as the GTA maps do.

Indeed, it's just that the just cause 2 map was really repetitive in my opinion, it almost feels like at times they didn't know what to do with all of the space, but it works the same way as a GTA map. Small maps just tend to be more detailed than larger maps and I'm happy with the amount of detail we get in every GTA game because the maps aren't 'small' by any means in games like San Andreas.

Question: I was asked a very interesting question today. Put yourself into a situation, how old would you think you are if you didn't really know which year you were born?

Wish it was still only wankers in suits that had them, then i would never have suffered it being the worlds worst smart phone. I mean i am a wanker, but i don't have a suit.

The map in JC 2 was good except for the lack of detail, it's good fun roaming the forests and great for exploring.

As for your question, I'll see how I look and say my age. wink.gif

How come The scottish guy is still visting the general chat if he's been BUSTED/banned? Wouldn't your access to the homepage be cutailed if you're banned? In another forum I were in, you'll get a message saying

"Sorry, the moderators have banned you from visiting this site

Date the ban will be lifted: Never."

So what's the deal here? Could someone enlighten me on this? Thanks.

My guess is that he has the General Chat forum bookmarked, so he goes directly to this sub-forum even if he's banned, but this is everything. He can't move onwards, he's stuck to his bookmarked URL. You're right, that's the message he's most probably seeing. He can't access this sub-forum and see it like you or me do, but he still appears like he's actually watching the section, even if what he's actually seeing is the banned-alike message you posted above. It's hard to explain, it's like he's seen from the forum like he's actually watching the section, but in fact he sees nothing but the banned message. Hope you do understand though.

Sometimes when I'm watching a video on YouTube, it might get half way through the video and it will freeze and make a loud buzzing sound, almost like something out of the Transformers, and my computer is literally frozen for about 5 minutes until it starts playing again. I'm wondering if it has something to do with a plug-in or flash player or something else. Anyone else had this problem or knows how to stop it freezing on nearly every video I watch.

Just quoting a previous problem I posted in here a few weeks ago.

Also had this pop up message when a video froze, I have no idea what it means and it's a little faded as I could only get a printscreen on it as it was disappearing.

Don't know how to solve it.

(If nothing in here is helpful you might have more luck in this question topic in the tech/PC section.)

Here's Microsoft's support page for that issue. Seems like you probably have an outdated video card driver.

I don't know about the former but I once had the latter problem, and tried some of the methods suggested here and it seemed to work.

support.microsoft.com/kb/2665946

Method 3 worked for me. Apparently I had multiple tabs open, and it turned out to be the root cause of the problem.

@zoo3891 & rudy.:

Cheers guys, checked for updates and it said the video card driver was up to date but there were some updates that needed to be installed and the problem hasn't persisted. Hopefully it won't again. icon14.gif

You'll get a message saying:

GTAForums: You have been banned.

The following reason was given for the ban and the reason will be listed.

You won't be able to do anything, you can't even log out unless you clear your cookies then you can atleast lurk the forums as a guest. If someone views a banned members profile and he sees this screen, his/her profile would just say Viewing Board Index.

Why was Scottish guy banned anyway?

Edit: Another question, miro what if a banned member like erm lets say Slamman maybe.... bookmarks a famous topic like "The Funny Picture Topic" or "Grumpy old forumers" he'll be able to view the topic right? So if a banned member creates a new account does not post(so that he does not attract attention) and keeps bookmarking all the topics(I know it's not possible but just saying) and logs out and logs back again into his banned account, he can see a ton lot of threads right?

I believe you're misunderstanding the meaning of bookmarking here. Simply put, the topics he bookmarks will appear normally on the new account, but will appear with the error message on the banned one, so no, the banned account won't be able to watch the topic, only on the new clean account. What I'm meaning with bookmarking is the browser remembering a certain topic. Slamman is most probably watching this place using some account we do not know about, without posting.

As to why he was banned, I imaging trolling/flaming would be the reason on the notificatoon. It's a shame really as I sent him a PM offering to bury the hatchet and bring our feud to an end about 20 seconds before he got nuked.

He probably thinks it was some sort of piss take now and that you knew of his impending fate. Ironically, he probably hates you more now than ever.

Star Wars hands down. The prequels are not that good though. But the original trio was awesome.

E: thanks miro, I have a question myself, why have the mods taken a disliking to milestone topics, girish locked one just now. sad.gif

Do you actually believe that or do you think that's just what people will want to hear? I'm not digging you out, the reason i bring it up is because most younger people like the new ones and not the old ones, and most older more hardcore fans love the originals and hate the new ones.

Not saying this is a dead set rule, but this is usually how it works out.

You've probably seen it, but if you haven't you should definitely see Blade Runner. It's about a bounty hunter who has to track down androids that impersonate humans.

Total Recall, made by the same director who directed Robocop, is also pretty good. It's about some guy who goes to memory implanters to have a memory of being a secret agent on mars, but during the process something goes wrong and he thinks he's actually a secret agent. Or maybe he was a secret agent the whole time, and the false memory reminded him of his past of being a secret agent, etc. It's based on a short story by Philip K. Dick (just like Blade Runner is), so it's very thought-provoking. E: Just remembered that there are two Total Recalls now. I haven't seen the remake, but it looked pretty cool, lots of action and futuristic stuff, but also lots of dubstep.

If you want something a little more exciting there's videodrome, which is kind of like a horror/science-fiction film with lots of body horror and gorn. It was directed/written by David Cronenberg who's famous for a lot of movies like that.
