Any one good at chemistry?  How do i do MaVa=MbVb titration equations?  I have  a data table of results from a lab where we had to neutralize an acid with a base.  Now its asking me to calculate the molarity of the acid for all of the trials?  I just don't understand what to plug into the equation.

You can only use Ma Va = Mb Vb if you are neutralizing a strong acid with a strong base. For example, if you are trying to determine concentration of HCl by adding NaOH solution of known concentration.

 

In these cases, it's easy. The equation tells you everything you need to know. Say you have 100ml of HCl at some unknown concentration. You start adding 1M solution of NaOH until acid is neutralized. You noted that you've added 15ml of NaOH by that point.

 

In other words, Ma is unknown, Va is 100ml, Mb is 1M and Vb is 15ml.

 

Ma * 100ml = 1M * 15ml

 

Divide both sides by 100ml

 

Ma = 1M * 15 / 100 = 0.15M

 

So you must have started out with 0.15M solution of HCl.

 

 

If either the base or the acid are weak, the situation gets way more complicated. You need to take into account dissociation constants and work out the actual concentrations corresponding to neutral solution. But in that case, Ma Va = Mb Vb doesn't apply anymore, so if that's all you've learned, I'm sure you have the strong acid strong base scenario. If you tell me the actual reagents you've used, I can confirm that.

 

 

P.S. You should also check stoichiometry. The above assumes that one mole of acid neutralizes one mole of base. If the acid you are neutralizing is H2SO4 it would take two moles of NaOH to neutralize one mole, because the corresponding neutral salt is Na2SO4.

How do you know offending members are not receiving warnings from your reports? You cannot see their warn log so you would never know. The mods do plenty around here, just because you can't see that, it doesn't mean it is not occurring.

They can't IP ban because most people post from dynamic IP addresses. If they banned by IP, the ban would cease to work when the IP address was reassigned, and someone completely innocent would be effectively banned.

I'm not exactly sure, but there's a little chance that it has something to do with some sort of glitch (sometimes when you fly far away from the mainland it can mess up the traffic) but that's rather unlikely. As Natashaw said it also depends on what vehicle do you drive that's probalby the reason.

I have a question based on the Forums......

I made a new account, And the registered email address is a Yahoo account. So, a 'revalidation email was sent to my Yahoo account' Thats what it said..But when I checked my account, no new mails regarding revalidation..I checked for around 2 hours but still same...

What could be the problem ?

The account activation mail is supposed to be automated, so there was no use of waiting for 2 hours really. Is there an option where this mail could be re-sent? Also, try checking your spam folder as well, the e-mail might be situated there. Lastly, have you talked to a staff member before making this new account?

Yes, I do know what you mean. But I think it's more to do than the eye fooling one's mind. Anyone here know why that is? I just don't understand why our brain senses danger to be honest. I mean think about it when someone tickles you you react because your body senses danger, but when you tickle yourself it doesn't because your brain knows you wont put yourself in danger. Why can't our brains sense that there is no danger in the examples Weasel and _____ provided?

No. I don't think that would work for me. What I described earlier used to happen when I was lying on my back in the backseat of my dad's car while he was driving. Maybe the motion of the car had something to do with it, but I think it might happen even if I'm not moving.

Our brains do sense that. Hence why we don't scream and piss ourselves every time we drive a virtual motorcycle off a cliff. You might feel a pull with something if you're focused on it as it falls on a TV screen, but your mind knows that there's no real danger.

No. I don't think that would work for me. What I described earlier used to happen when I was lying on my back in the backseat of my dad's car while he was driving. Maybe the motion of the car had something to do with it, but I think it might happen even if I'm not moving.

When you become extremely relaxed (typically before falling asleep) your brain can get confused and think you're floating in mid air and will give you the falling sensation as a a means of conveying "quick, grab onto something!"

The thing is though it was right at the beginning of a new game, since I only just acquired the game on PC, so I hadn't flown away. I literally exited the Johnson House and ran down the alleyway beside it to the road behind it on my way to Big Smoke's missions.

I don't know then, just carry on with playing as normal and if the problem will still be present, perhaps you should consider asking in San Andreas forum. I think I know quite a lot about the game, but I can't really think how to fix your problem.

Never mind about it, I think I actually prefer it, as it also seems to lessen the same-car-everywhere effect. I'm up to the Doherty Garage missions now and it felt more realistic having more than just tractors and caravans driving around the countryside.
