Is anybody here else a fan of Red VS Blue? It's hard to believe it has been going on for ten years now. I'm currently halfway through Season 9, don't really like the direction they're taking the show into but it's still fun to watch. Season 6 was by far the best. Had definitely one of the most mind blowing plot lines ever with the classic comedy still intact.

You are allowed to curse as long as it's not excessive but cuss words will be censored automatically generally.

 

 

I have a question about pocket billiards, specifically about 8 ball. If we go by the official APA rules, are you allowed under any circumstances to pocket the eight ball after you pocket your last ball, in the same shot? Could you call a pocket and then pocket the last object ball and then pocket the eight ball in the said pocket (maybe by pocketing the object ball in a different pocket than the called pocket for the 8 ball)?

Ahh thanks, that makes sense because only people banned long time ago have 2 lines of stars.

I actually think it was an old flag, like instead of a nationality flag, but was taken away a long time ago, because they guy you posted a pic of does not have a flag like you or me, the stars are in that spot.

and if you are busted your flag is still on display so maybe they had the 5 stars as a flag.

 

also the user who shared slamman and murdoc's logs with us (well last entry for murdoc) Spirit. had these stars there and I think someone said that that was something to do with the group they were in - the precinct (I think) like their special exclusive secret flag maybe

Nah my sister had it growing up, she got very ill and didn't eat properly for several weeks and lost a load of weight, missed out on school ect after going to the doctor, she was on an IV drip for 3 days as well.

 

See the Doctor now if it is really burning, because even if it's not a uirnal tract infection, it's going to be bad. In the meantime until you see a doctor, drink lots of water and try flush it out a bit.

Not everyone has a flag. It's possible that IF some groups are able to use the banned-stars as flag that these appear then and stay there when they get banned, but members who were banned and then un-banned have these banned-stars under the join date line as well. If it's true that some groups can choose these stars as flag, then I would like to see someone to get banned, then un-banned, joining a group that have these stars as flag and use that flag, and then getting banned again. That would theoretically mean that this member would've these banned-stars three times.

I'm pretty sure the limit of the human eye\brain is way below 100 Hz anyway. At least that's what I read.

 

Edit: Also TVs with a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz are quite pointless. Movies don't ever exceed that number of frames ever, right? Most of them run at 30 fps or under. Also, video game consoles don't exceed 60 Hz either as far as I can tell.

Is a higher refresh rate what causes video new T.V. displays to look... I dunno fast maybe?

When I'm playing a game or watching a movie on my friends LED TV it seems to play slightly too fast and it gets really bad sometimes, like the video is trying to catch up to something for a few seconds.

 

My friends don't notice it so maybe I'm just crazy

Movies don't go over 30 frames per second generally and console games don't go over 60. LCDs generally have a refresh rate of at least 60 Hz.

 

60 Hz = 60 frames per second, but the limit is imposed by the TV. What you have been noticing doesn't have anything to do with refresh rates as far as I can tell.

It could be a neurological "condition", I wouldn't like to call it a condition as such as it's probably nothing that could cause long term harm, hence the bunny ears around the word. It could be that your eye-brain co-ordination is maybe a tiny fraction off, it would probably be off the same type of "condition" that affects many people who can't use the new 3D glasses (not the old green/red ones), as it gives them headaches and such, or even a very slight touch of epilepsy. Another side affect of this is you may experience a lot of deja vu, as this is a misfiring of the neurological pathways from the eye which cause your brain to see the same thing twice and trick your memory coretx's to thinking it's already happened, a lesser effect of deja vu could be cause's your experiences due to the refresh rates etc.

You were right JayC. I decided to google it and found some post on a forum explaining it.

And to _____ ,the reasoning behind higher refresh rates are mentioned

 

 

 

My Sony LED tv is the same when you have motion-flow turned on. This is due to your TV trying to replicate 24 frames per second. TV's run at 30 frames per second so obviously 24 doesn't go into 30 that easily, so the manufacturers use something called 2.3 pull down; the problem with this is that you get a juddering image that just looks poor so TV manufactures have systems like motion-flow, so to improve 2.3 they use higher refresh rates namely multiples of 24 to try and get closer to that 24 frames per second.

 

So your tv is basically doing a reverse Telecine To 23.976 frames per second it multiplies that by five to get close to 120htz refresh rate. Which is a multiple of 30 of your tv but because of the extra fodder inserted to try and clean this up your image to your eyes will look speeded up until you get used to seeing it, some companies have better systems than others which aren't as obtrusive. Also systems can introduce artefacts too into the image especially of poor quality signal.

 

Another note is when you play a game at 60fps it looks natural on your TV but with all the settings for movies turned on it look just plain weird, so TV manufactures have a game mode for specifically turning everything off, this will also increase response times.

^ That doesn't really explain the need for refresh rates over 100 Hz. From what I can tell, your vision gets blurry at about 60 Hz and onwards. In other words, going over 60 Hz will improve speed but things moving at high speed using all the frames will look blurry, so I don't see the advantage in that.
