Ok, now I have a question. Are there any easy techniques to cleaning football boots? It seems to take me f*cking ages. There seems to be tricks for pretty much anything, like rubbing lemons on microwaves or spraying ovens with Don Perignon. Is there like some sort of substance I can use that will get them clean in a quick way? or some sort of technique?

 

I bash them against walls, and clack the studs together, and that shakes the big pieces of mud off, but no matter how hard I bash or clack it doesn't seem to clean the rest of the boots.

Have you ever tried using a hose or the tap? It may sound like a strange suggestion, but it seems to work if the water runs fast enough.

I've never heard of any magic trick. Best I can do is just tell you to wait 'til it dries, whack them on a wall or something then use warm soapy water to brush it off. Now for something a simpleton couldn't tell you: If you've got boots where the stitching catches all the mud buy yourself a cheap ass toothbrush, a label maker* and just go to town on those mothers. That's what I did when I had to clean my boots. I should point out though that because I haven't played for a proper team since 2008 my vapors have gone completely unwashed and there may have been developments in the boot cleaning world.Seriously though, vapors are a godsend to wash, apart from the tongue they're essentially one continuous piece of fabric (plastic?) that just wipes off easily.

I normally just use a bucket of water and a sponge and a knife. I don't like using the hose, because it has to be attached to the kitchen tap first and that takes the piss. It's also usually busy spraying people that don't put the lotion on it's skin.

 

@I So Brink, I've got predators, and they're a bit more awkward because of the way the fabric and material is. I'd love some easy boots like vapors. The toothbrush thing sounds good I'll give that a go. What do you mean by a label maker? One of these things?

I believe the ones with two sets of stars are people who were banned a long time ago, as when they were banned the 'karma stars' system was still in affect. Now that there are no more karma stars only one pip shows.

Actually, I believe you could get those stars when you were un-banned. The second row of stars aren't the same as the karma stars. However, un-banning doesn't add you the stars under your flag anymore, with the new system of the Member Log (not sure of this, but I think it's someway related). Karma stars don't have anything to do with the second row of Busted stars.

Yeah, but remember that even kids access this site. We all know that this forum has members of any age, so the filters are needed. GTA isn't played only by 18+ guys, but even 10 year olds or even lower. Besides, you don't have to put the censoring star yourself. My experience says that a FWD vehicle is superior to RWD. I wouldn't consider 'converting'.

I do remember hearing (late 70s) that some western state converted RWD Oldsmobiles Delta 88's to 4WD for desert patrol.

 

Anyway if done correctly by an experienced shop there should be no prolems.

It depends entirely on the vehicle. It will always be cheaper where RWD or AWD variants exist, but even then it is very expensive. On a purely FWD car, it will usually involve creating an entire new transmission tunnel and rear end, including rear suspension pick-up points et cetera. Very expensive.

Wouldn't it be easier to just sell FWD car and buy RWD one? Swapping engine or steering is hard but possible, but converting car from FWD to RWD is next to impossible. You need to cut off the front half axles, put driveline there and completely rebuilt suspension to support RWD. Also you need to be sure that transmission supports RWD and check if the floor got the space to fit driveline there. In my opinion swap like that is completely useless, because for a price of the process (and probably even cheaper) you can buy some RWD car (Silvia, 240SX and many others).
