Numerous ways:

1) It's quite trivial to pull details like IP address out. They'll probably have software specifically designed for logging particular key words and communication data associated with them. From that they can get your IP and/or MAC address, which can both be used to geolocate a particular machine.

2) They probably can access your account. If they have effective monopoly on all communications they can extract the key used to encrypt data from your computer when you log in to your chosen social networking site and effectively steal your credentials to gain access.

3) How do you know you haven't already been subject to a watering hole attack and don't already have a remote access tool or monitoring software installed on your machine by the government? Even governments like Gernany's use trojans against suspected cyber criminals.

There are lots of other angles of attack too. They could use social engineering to get you to effectively give up your details. They could identify you thought background communications data, like other sites and sessions connected to any communications you do. Network monitoring from someone whose connected to the sane area switch or junction box as you...

I see. However, I'm wondering if the government, that I live under, has the capability and the expert workforce to perform such methods for acquiring digital data from a target. I know so many anonymous writers on Twitter that have been writing for years exposing and stripping off the government. They've been playing a key role in raising people's awareness, yet they haven't been caught. Could it be because there are just so many writers and that it's pointless to track one and leave thousand other writers?

I'm planning to do self-learning on the technical and non-technical side of internet tracking. Do you have any recommendations? books? technical skills to acquire? how to avoid tracking as much as possible?

Thanks for your concern.

Much of the process can be automated so manpower isn't an issue. The most likely reason for the continued freedom of dissidents is that there's no great desire to silence them amongst the authorities. There are numerous books on network analysis, a starting guide that demonstrates just how easy it is is "practical packet analysis", plus the various Syngress digital oppressive titles.

The most likely reason for the continued freedom of dissidents is that there's no great desire to silence them amongst the authorities.

There's an account on Twitter which has been responsible for organizing numerous small demonstrations that call for the release of political detainees. Some of these demonstrations have occurred in sensitive parts of the major cities in the country, yet he's not been caught although his first twitter account was hacked. I even heard that an interrogator from the local secret police asked someone who was arrested in a demonstration if he knows anything about the guy who runs that Twitter account like if they don't know his real identity. This has led me to believe that they really don't have the capability to track people on the internet unless they were able to acquire the IP address. It's possible that they still suffer from backwardness in the technology and still don't have the ability to do effective tracking otherwise they would've arrested many writers who always receive insults and threats in their accounts on Twitter.

The whole system in that organization is corrupt to the bone and most of the workers come from the very low elements of our society. What to expect from a master sergeant with an intermediate school education? If they do any effective tracking, I wouldn't expect it to come from a native worker, but rather from a contractor.

Just to make things clear about what I'm talking, see this:

I'm 17, should I be worried I've never really had a girlfriend? I mean, I've been close to like one girl once maybe, sometime in my life, but I've never had a proper relationship. It's never really bothered me much until now, where I realise practically everyone is/has been in a relationship. I've had plenty of crushes on girls, but never really worked out that well. I like a girl right now but due to the inexperience I have no clue how to approach her whatsoever.

Worrying doesn't help you deal with anything. If you need advice on how to approach her you should tell us a few more details about your situation. How well do you know her (if you know her) and stuff like that.

Ok, so I've been dealing with a hacker on XBL. I have dealt with him before and I would love to get back at him. He has booted me offline several times, several IP's. Anyway I can get back at him?

Cops maybe? I know his whole real name, and his Gamertag.

Xbox Support doesn't do sh*t.

I would beat up this hacker if possible. Maybe he can try install new firewalls for the hospotals servers. Cops and stupid customer service won't help you. You're alone with this.

Yeah send me the name. I can do that for you. Unfortunately I'm living in Europe so this will cost something. biggrin.gif

Is this just a random hacker or do you have personal problem with him?

I used to be his best friend really. Then one night, December 14th... all hell broke loose really.

Not even a personal problem, it's a mental problem. I don't have any beef with him, it's just that he imagines things differently.

Have you tried, oh, I don't know, talking to him like a civilised person?

I can't keep track of how many times I talk to people with respect and I get treated like a nerd. To answer your question, yes.

You can't talk to him, you can't punch him, customer service gives a sh*t so as the cops... you don't have many opportunities left. Creating total new Xbox account? He'll identify you again probably...

Maybe you should plan your next holiday in beautiful Illinois. I've heard the weather is so nice. What would the cops say? Different state, we don't care....?

Sony Vegas?

You can put different video and audio files go over eachother.

You can make stuff like that.

Hope this helps smile.gif

He wants a freeware but I don't think there's any free video editing software that can do that.

I don't think so, though (most) official member groups have their own subforum and there's a separate private subforum that all official groups can see.

If you're diagnosed with a terminal illness, given only a short time to live and decide to kill yourself before the disease does - does it still count as suicide? At that point, your death is a stone cold inevitability, would it still be suicide?

Yes.

Edit:

About the best you can do is have a good 'living will' where make damn sure no one puts you on life support.

Morally - Debatable.

Technically and Literally - Yes.

Your death is a stone cold inevitability anyway.

You already have a terminal illness. It's called life.

Yes, Not only that, but you may be arrested for the attempt (or expressed thought) and confined so that you "don't harm yourself, or others".

Mental Health is more important to others than physical pain.

How would the Medical staff 'test' treatments if everyone self terminated.

Your pain is their (money) gain.

However if your bank acount is tapped out (bankrupt), the Medical staff might help you to free up the bed for the next.

True, true. Was just wondering if anyone could relate to the first part.

About the girl, I don't know her that well and I've not really spoken to her before but I know we share common interests, I just don't know how to approach her without looking like a creep/stalker. I really don't know how anyone could do it, I have trouble speaking with my friends let alone to a person I've not really spoken to before and in trying to win them over.
