Does anyone know what happened to Mati? I remember him becoming a GTA V forum leader and after a while I stopped seeing him posting. I now see that he is banned. Did he request to be banned or did he get banned for doing something bad? Just curious smile.gif

Why do people take pride in disease and poverty stricken cities? I don't care if it's your home, a place like this

user posted image

Is NOTHING to be proud of. I always hear people say "I GOT LOVE FO MAH CITY YO". And every time I do, it's some disease filled shlt hole like Detroit. And yet they somehow take PRIDE in being a pseudo-hobo while being surrounded by broken down buildings and disgusting people.

Why? Why do they take pride in this and wish to do nothing to change it and hope to be something better?

To use an example, look at Franklin from GTA V in Trailer 2. He's a gangbanger who wants to be something more than "slinging dope and throwin' up gang signs".

So basically my main question is: Why take pride in something that's not something to take pride in (like a poor city)?

It's distinctive, it has character, for some really f*cking weird reason it gives a homely feel, I like when there is a bit of mess in my house, the familiar shirt on the floor, the familiar grit in the pavement going to the shops, the familiar rubbish bags tossed into the backalleys. I don't like the clinical feel of things that are brand new honestly, I would feel quite homely in a place like that photo.

EDIT: OH yeah, @Stealth666, His new name is 'Technique' he's posted in the topic here.

I've lived in streets like this, it's not about how it looks on the outside, honestly I felt more at home there than I do in my current residence, I was raised there, it's not necessarily because you can't afford more, it's because you don't want anything more, if you're happy, why change it?

But why be happy living in filth? That's my whole question. Taking pride in filth, disease and cruddy things.

I was flipping through channels last night on TV and stopped to go get a drink. I came back and Hardcore Pawn was on. There was this ghetto lady who was all like "I'M A GHETTO BITCH I DON'T NEED NO THIS AND THAT".

I just don't understand why you would take pride in being in a place like that, home or not. I grew up in a shltty place filled with drug dealing neighbours and thugs on bikes packing guns in their shorts. I don't take pride in being from a place like that. I got mugged a few times and always had to look over my shoulder walking to the store or school.

Why the f*ck would I take pride in any of that? And that's in addition to the crackheads and the rest of the...."lovely" citizens who had the IQ of a snail.

Oh yeah, so proud of my "home" filled with crackheads, drunks, thugs, and broken down homes.

I don't know, maybe I'm just weird for wanting to be something better than that.

I wanted better so I moved, but being raised in a place, you just get accustomed, it doesn't bother me, even though I have OCD because I'd seen it so much.

quick question, has there ever been a topic showing off peoples desktop screenshots in the PC chat subforum?

I got in a fight with my beat friend, and I decided to "take a break" from the friendship a while. But the question is, how long should the break be? I've been thinking between 3-5 days before I talk to her again, but that's just me. What do you guys think?

How come people have different intelligences? That one is highly inteligent, but the next one doesn't understand, for example math, for the slightest bit?

How come one can sing so beautifully like Adam Lopez, and I can't?

Besides, what kinda techniques do you learn if you get lessons for singing, and what kinda exercises are it so that I might improve my singing? Or is that not possible if your voice is not really fitted for it?

I can answer the different intelligences question, your brain constantly builds neural links to be able to retrieve certain information faster, or easier. If you constantly practice (recall is probably a better term) math-related information then your brain will make itself better at retrieving math-related information over time, this also works in reverse in that if you don't keep building these links they go away, or come into disuse. So the key to intelligence is practice, practice, practice.

Probably because very few people take the initiative and study for the majority of their life, there are also mental illnesses, drugs, and states of mind that I think help you build links faster, or help you put up with the stress of work better, but I'm not going to say anything more about them because I have no idea how they actually work.

Well, most of the so called "genius" the world has seen were a little bit... weird.... compared to the average person. But this helped them get better in the field they loved which obviously made it possible for them to excel.

For example Nikola Tesla was quite a freak, he would never "lose time" with women and he would work full time on his experiments. He was extremely dedicated to his work, had a good education and in turn he made amazing things for Science.

I was hoping someone might be to help me with the name of a film. The film is about a fugitive on the run, but it's not The Fugitive with Harrison Ford. The protagonist is a man in his late 20's/early 30's, with medium length black hair. The film starts with the guy somewhere in the woods, and he attacks 2 hunters. I'm pretty sure he's ex-military, but I could be wrong. I'm also pretty sure the film is set in the Pacific Northwest. At least part of it, potentially all of it, is set in and around Portland. At one point he goes to I believe his girlfriend's house, and I think there was a child there. There's also a long chase scene, where the protagonist goes through a variety of different areas on foot including a tram and I think he at some point dives into a river. Not 100% on that I could possibly be mixing it up with a different film.

That's pretty much all I can remember. The film was released around the late 80's/early-mid 90's, but I think more towards the early 90's. Or even if you know the film, but don't know it's name, do you know any actors that were in it? Thanks for any help.

I think i got it. The Hunted

this is from the first line of the plot summary

In the Pacific Northwest wilderness, two hunters (who are later implied to be operatives of the Central Intelligence Agency's Special Activities Division) are viciously murdered by Aaron Hallam (Benicio del Toro),

seems like it, not much of the other stuff you mentioned is mentioned. But you said you may be getting mixed up

was released in 2003 as well, not the period you specified

but there is a 1995 film of the same name

and a 1998 film of the same name

the extract from wiki was of the 2003 film. not the period you specified but the 1995 is completely different from what I could see, so maybe you got the year confused based off the fact the films have the same name. Even though you did not know the name

the film has tommy lee jones but he is not the protaganist.

that might jog your memory and help see if this is the right film.

Yes that was it! The Hunted. Thanks Nate.

2003, wow I was way off. Oh it did have Tommy Lee Jones in it. I thought he was in it, but then I thought I was just confusing it with The Fugitive because he plays the guy that's trying to catch the protagonist in that as well.

Thanks again. icon14.gif

How much data does video take up?

I am looking to invest in an in-car camera, and I want to know how much memory video will take. 30 fps, at 420p and at 720p.

I am going to get a 64gb SD card, and I want to know just how much video will fit on it at a time.

I don't want to sound like a dick, but no sh*t, more video=more memory...

I guess I could word it better.

For an hour of video, at 30 fps, how much data will it take up for 420p and 720p?

The camera can be set to either one, so I want to know what each one will need.

I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to video, but it I'm pretty sure it will depend upon what format the camera is writing to the SD card in and if the video is compressed or if it is raw.

Getting more technical. My head is starting to hurt confused.gif

1 hour of footage, MPEG-4 (the camera's default format), uncompressed, 30 fps, 420p and 720p.

Euhh, my head bored.gif I didn't want to think this much at 11pm.

1 hour of footage, MPEG-4 (the camera's default format), uncompressed, 30 fps, 420p and 720p.

I hate to give you even more headache, but all modern video compression algorithms have variable bit rates. That means that resolution isn't the only thing that determines quality. Rather than store exact frames, the algorithm can approximate the frames and save a bit of space. For example, if particular part of the image didn't change much, it might say, "Eh, it's the same." and just not update it at all.

DVD will have maximum rate of 11Mbit/s. Blu Ray is capped at 48Mbit/s. If we take these as typical for your 420p and 720p respectively, you are looking at 4.8GB and 21GB for one hour of footage at these resolutions.

Of course, camera is likely to run a lower bit rate and not use quite as much space. You are likely looking at about half of the above at actual DVD/BD quality. Perhaps less at a bit of penalty to quality. Basically, the only way to really find out is to try filming stuff and seeing how big the files are.

Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.

Stupid or uncaring people are needed to do the work and fight the wars. Religious leaders don't have a care as long as they are being feed by the believers. Same for government 'leaders', but they need masses of workers keep them.

If everyone was intelligent we might have utopia or total war.

Breathing and oral shape affect sound projection. So many have to be taught the methods to achieve the best sound.

Others just scream (and bounce around) and are accepted by the stupid ones previously mentioned.

I don't have much to add to K^2's post, so pay attention to him instead.

1 hour of footage, MPEG-4 (the camera's default format), uncompressed, 30 fps, 420p and 720p.

I don't think there are any regular cameras that shoot uncompressed video. Only professional ones used for making movies and stuff would do that. Uncompressed video takes a tremendous amount of disk space even at a low resolution such as 420p.

I am going to get a 64gb SD card, and I want to know just how much video will fit on it at a time.

You might want to get a high speed SD card, depending on the bitrate of your camera's video encoding. If the transfer rate on the card is slower than the bitrate then you will encounter lag. You can read a little bit about speeds here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digita...ed_Class_Rating

Anything above and including 6 MB\s should be safe.
