Have A Question? V2

Why did roman bellic's brain get banned? Last I checked stupidity doesn't get you banned, there just have been more to it.

I've seen one or two posts of his that may have seemed rather offensive to others. I can't find the ones in question, but I would imagine that kind of stuff would eventually get you banned. Also, a few members have said that he should be banned, I suppose if they reported him enough the staff would just assassinate get rid of him.

Edit: I have a question of my own.

I was just watching a programme with Stephen Fry and I noticed he said "Of course, getting fit is just one part of achieving the body beautiful".

Now, as a man who like a bit of grammar, I'm puzzled by how that part in bold works. Shouldn't it be "one part of achieving a beautiful body"? I've heard this kind of thing done with other words too and it never makes sense to me. So, can someone enlighten me as to how that is grammatically correct?

He wasn't just stupid, he was really really stupid. He also flamed people and was deliberately offensive and just a total absolute c*nt. It was only a matter of time.

Depending on how you look at it, it is both correct and incorrect. Beautiful body would be grammatically correct, however in the context that the it has been said, it has been eluded to as a sort of status by saying "The body beautiful" almost elevating it to an aspirational state, as opposed to a pure descriptive state.

So in essence they can both be correct, depending on the context used.

Great answer. Thanks for that icon14.gif

My teacher said the test can raise your grade up by 11% and can harm your grade the same way. If i got a 76%, what percent i have to get to get at least an 80%?

If this means that maximum absolute change of grade is 11%, you would need 112% on the exam to go from 76% to 80%.

Why was GreatestEver23 banned? He seemed to be like a normal guy to me. Of course, I could be wrong though.

God damn it. I always figure out the answer when I'm asking a question. It seems that he requested a ban to create a new account if I look at his last couple of posts.

Is it true that some guy in Berlin got cured of AIDs? I just find this hard to believe...

I'll take a guess and say it was a bone marrow transplant or something along the lines of that. If that's the case then it's a rare occurence since it's quite difficult to find an exact match to do the procedure.

Transplant from AIDS-resistant donor, yes. But the fact that the principle works does open up some possibilities. From modifying donor tissue to be compatible with whichever patient, to modifying patient's own tissue.

How many images are allowed to post in one reply? confused.gif

I don't think there is a set limit, but general rule of thumb is three images per post. If there is a good reason to post more, you can post more. Example would be a highly detailed concept posts, tutorials, etc. Generally, in the opening post, where people expect a lot of text and images. If you are writing a reply, you need to keep in mind that some people will be just scrolling past, and you should limit the images. If you have more than three, consider making them links.

And while we are talking about images, you need to change your avatar. You should not be impersonating a moderator.

There is a set limit, it's fifteen images per post.

Is it okay to reuse cooking oil that chicken was fried in? Provided I put in a sealed jar and vaccum seal it, then refrigerate...

As long as it fully cools before you refrigerate it, I think it's fine. I've done it before when I've been low on oil, but I generally wouldn't use the same oil more than twice. And it'll retain and impart a chicken-y flavour, so keep that in mind for whatever you use it for.

I don't think there is any serious problem with that, you savage! lol.gif

As long as it fully cools before you refrigerate it.

This is definitely the most important part. Make sure it's at least room temperature before you do anything with it and then when you put it in the fridge leave the lid off until it's at its lowest temperature (you basically want to avoid condensation).

Also, if you're going to use it for frying then it'll be fine, but if you plan to use it as a base for a dressing or something (which would be rather odd, but I'm just exploring the options) then I recommend you just scrap the whole thing as you'd be asking for trouble. Not a massive amount, but enough to make life a bit uncomfortable.

Using fresh oil every time you cook is the healthiest option. However, if that is not a viable option and it must be re-used, here are some helpful (and healthful) tips:

•Strain it through a few layers of cheesecloth to catch any food particles before storing. Be careful with hot oil, though, because you can easily get burned.

•Shake off excess batter from food before frying it.

•Use a good thermometer to fry foods at a maximum of 375°F (or 190°C).

•Turn off the heat after you are done cooking. Exposing oil to prolonged heat accelerates rancidity.

•Don't mix different types of oil.

•Store oil in a cool, dark place.

•Avoid iron or copper pots or pans for frying oil that is to be reused. These metals also accelerate rancidity.

Here’s another tip on oil safety. Frying foods at or above 375°F can lead to the accumulation of 4-hydroxy-2-trans-nonenal (HNE) in the oil. What’s that, you ask? HNE is a toxic substance that has been associated with an increased risk of stroke, atherosclerosis, elevated levels of LDL cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol), Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and various liver diseases. It only takes one use to create HNE in the oil, and reusing oil at too high of a heat can cause even more HNE to build-up.

How to avoid HNE? When heating oil to very high temperatures, use a thermometer to ensure that you’re not heating the oil above 375°F. This is the ideal temperature for frying.

I think so. I asked from one of my Muslim friends if he have ever eaten pork before he said "No" and he said that they never eat pork at any circumstances.

What does it mean by making the users name gray?

Are you really serious about this? You gonna keep trying religions until you find something suitable.

"Well I've eaten pork, so that rules out muslims...how about Buddhism?"

Ok I bought Victoria II (strategy game) off of steam a few days ago, and it doesn't work unfortunately. It starts loading up and then gets to a certain point and freezes and crashes and this pops up:

1) Is it possible to determine why it won't work/what the problem is from that?

2) If yes, then what is the problem?

It's worth noting that according to some site that tells you whether or not your system can play a certain game, my graphics card in my laptop, or my built in graphics, or whatever the hell it's technically called, apparently was just slightly below the requirements. Everything else was fine. So from what I'd seen of the game on youtube: that it's grahics didn't seem all that great, and based on the fact that my laptop plays Civilization V and the Sims 3 perfectly fine I thought it should cope with Victoria II. But apparently I was most likely wrong. So yh, does that thing that pops up give any insight as to why it won't work?

Thanks for any help.

Is this on Steam, by any chance? If so, I found this and it worked so it might be worth giving it a try.

Go to the game folder, and to the maps folder and empty the cache folder you find there.

Then go to the documents\paradox interactive\victoria 2 and delete any cache.

Then start up the game 'manually' (not through steam) by double clicking on the v2game.exe file in the game dir.

After the cache has been built up properly it now works fine in steam for me.
