was Iraq not invaded in search of Sadam's weapons of mass destruction? or at face value that was reason for the invasion

Ladies and gentleman, I present to you the 10,000th post on this thread.

Kudos to Andrew.

Public reason, yes. Private reason was as much to do with other UNSCOM violations as it was with the WMD angle- most notably in relation to long-range missile technology. The WMD angle sold the conflict to the population better than complex explanations about long-range ballistic missiles would have. Unfortunately, it turned out to largely be a red herring.

oh yeah, similarly to Vietnam, the US went in with what they percieved as good intentions, only this time the public knew they were having the wool pulled over their eyes, but in most cases ignored the lies and used the WMD threat as 'justification', same as the US in the 60's 'stopping Communism'...like f*ck

10,000th post? if I had know, I'd have made it one with a bit more thought, and maybe even not make myself out to be so damn guillible blush.gif

It's quite arguable how much was outright lies, how much was embellishment (probably the majority) and how much was the spiel that Saddam's generals fed him because they were terrified of being pulled apart by revving Bentleys. It's pretty clear that he wanted a WMD programme; there's also an amount of evidence that he thought he had one. Of course, that's the same evidence that found it's way into the hands of the CIA and SIS, and formed the rope which eventually hanged him.

I pretty much messed up freshmen year on High-School, so if I increase my grades drastically and continuously until I graduate, does that still give me a high enough chance of getting into a great (possibly Ivy League) college?

Most schools probably don't care about your Freshmen year as much as later years. It depends on what you mean by "messed up" though. If you failed classes then it'll be bad for your record. However, if you follow that with straight A's in advanced classes or turned things around in a similar fashion then it'll show colleges what you are truly capable of. They won't hold what you've done in the past against you. wink.gif

I didn't fail anything, but my grades were entirely mediocre compared to past grade history. I've had a bunch of sh*t to deal with and haven't been giving my 100% at school, which completely shucks.

Also, I'm in a couple of honor society groups and am class vice-president, I'm also part of a handful of clubs (eco clubs, community & service, etc). Is that helpful for college admissions at all? I suppose they are, but how important are these?

Thanks!

You are absolutely positively 100% fine, don't worry. Worst case - keep busting your ass in high school, then when you graduate go to a community college for a year and pull straight A's there. Then go apply for the Ivy League and you're very likely to be accepted.

If I fire a bullet straight up, what would both the angle be between the firing (at 90 degrees vertical) and the distance, and what's the simplest way to work it out?

Is there any way to check how many views a Youtube video had on a specific date? Like how many (much?) views Gangnam Style had on 8/9/2012 for example?

Sorry for my bad english. smile.gif

Anyone?

How can I make me skin completely smooth after shaving?

Its smooth for a few hours but after that it just feels really prickly which can be irritating, Any tips?

Use cold water for shaving, as warm/hot water causes the skin to 'swell' around the hair shaft. Thus the cut isn't as close as could be possible.

Use a Blade Razor, not an electric. The 'sheer' shield on the electrics prevent the shave being any closer than that 'shield' is thick.

A one of the hair Depilatories might work if you arn't sensitive or allergic.

How about 'No-No'?

Thank's for the tips smile.gif

And I heard some bad things about the No-No so I probably wouldn't get that smile.gif

You got a button under the video called Statistics and it looks like this

It doesn't give you exact detail about a certain date but you can still determine the numbers.

How Field of View affects the level of zooming?

So yeah. Let's say I've got FOV of 90 degrees, which would be considered as 1x zoom. What FOV would it be if I had 2x zoom or 4x zoom, and how I can count it?

I don't think you mean defoliant.

Right you are: Depilatories is what I meant. icon14.gif

I had a wonderful, if slightly terrifying mental image of someone splashing 2,4,5-Trichlorophenoxyacetic acid all over their face for a close shave, and ending up looking like the Elephant Man.

Do politicians have to wear suits? I mean, could David Cameron just walk into Parliament in his t-shirt and jeans? Is there some law stating that they have to abide by a certain dress code?

It's called 'respect', and almost a tradition.

People tend to believe what people say if they are dressed for the situation.

So yeah. Let's say I've got FOV of 90 degrees, which would be considered as 1x zoom. What FOV would it be if I had 2x zoom or 4x zoom, and how I can count it?

To a good approximation, you can think of position of pixel on the image as it's angles from center line. So if you zoom by factor of 2x, you effectively shrink the FOV down by the same factor. So Zoom 1x -> 2x would change your FOV from 90° to 45°.

This doesn't work well for very broad FOVs. At 90° this is already not strictly speaking precise, but it gives you the right idea. At 120° and above, it just doesn't work. There you have to start thinking about how the view is actually projected onto film/sensor/screen, and things get a bit complicated.

Unfortunately, I do not know exact projections used with cameras, so I can't really help you there. I can tell you exact formulas used for video games, but I'm not sure it will be useful to you.

Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.

Ok, so i have finals this week and i need help calculating my grade.

My teacher said the test can raise your grade up by 11% and can harm your grade the same way. If i got a 76%, what percent i have to get to get at least an 80%?

I suck at math.

What is your exam worth?

She didn't tell us, all she said was that it can improve up to 11%

Is your final exam worth 11% of your total grade in the class then? Without knowing the specific details of the exam I'd say you'd have to pull at least an 84 or an 85 to get an 80.

@Mr.Mordecai

An 84% on the test would bump your grade up from a 76% to an 80%, if I understand the question right. (76/100 + 84/100)/2=80/100 (edit: That might be wrong, I feel like I'm not taking grade weight into consideration, can anyone verify?)

You can get the iPhone app "iHomework" and it can calculate with weighting. Or icarus can probably do it when he gets back. I'd say get over an 85 to be safe though without further calculations.
