What is the best subtle way to weigh something down? My network switch keeps balancing on the grips of my ethernet cables because it's so damn light.

Tape it down, or put something heavy/flat behind it, like a rock.

Assuming most members here are male, do you cry often? When you're sad, frustrated, angry? I'm merely curious.

Yes 80% is male. But there's difference. Some males cries often. some males's crying very randomly (expect childhood).

Usually when I get really frustrated I lay down and start thinking about all other the things in life that I'm frustrated with and cry to myself. Usually I inspire myself to improve after such instances, but the improvements are never permanent.

I don't remember the last time I cried. I find it hard.

My parents often cry, when we watch "sad" things on TV. But I never feel the need to cry.

I bitch out whenever an animal dies in movies.

ed: and Michael Caine had me on the borderline a few times in TDKR. Wave of emotions!

I generally cry once a year. It just boils up all day and I'm snivelling at the back of the bus about nothing at all really. The only exception I can think of is when I beat Silent Hill 2 and I was in tears, although I did have a fan blowing next to my face so that might have been the reason. Either works though.

Crying about anything is supposed to be good for you every once in a while, but I don't actually remember the last time I did.

I haven't cried in well over a decade, probably not since my late teens, not to sound like a tough guy who suppresses his emotions or anything like that. It's just that I've learned long ago not to let my emotions overwhelm me by stepping back in my mind and looking at the bigger picture and knowing that sometimes the world is a c*nt. I feel like I process my emotions much better by thinking things through rather than balling about it.

But sure, my eyes may tear up ever so slightly when I read or see something sad, but that's about it.

I watched 50/50 the other day and it made me shed a tear for the first time in a long while. It did make me think actually, I can't remember the last time I actually cried properly.

Saw that when it came out, brilliant.

Only time I have cried since getting punched in the face like 8 years ago is when waking up from some dreams to find tears, and when I watch movies by myself, I fully embrace them and let some tears come, and it is enjoyable for some reason.

Weird, I don't mind crying over films that aren't real, but real crying for something sad is something I don't wanna experience, I didn't even cry when, my grandmother died, because I knew I would overwhelm myself for no purpose.

Only if I was to be hit HARD with a red hot poker in the testicles, but then I'd only let out a little tear, be brave suck it up and be a man and that (/thumps chest all manly like)... URGGH!!.

If you don't even come close to crying to things that you're supposed to cry to, such as sad movie scenes or emotional music, then you're probably dead on the inside. That's kinda sad.

Last time I cried was last year when I was somewhat depressed. I actually forced myself to cry because I wanted to get rid of these negative emotions. I can't really cry right away if I am sad\depressed, I have to really force myself.

Edit: Some movies almost make me cry. I think I almost cried at the end of Vanilla Sky for example. Music doesn't make me cry unless I really concentrate on it.

I just feel spoiled. I've seen similar things already, so they don't strike me as hard. And when we talk about movies, perhaps knowing that it's all fake changes the way I see it. You can call me "dead inside" if you want, but I don't give a f*ck.

And I know how to appreciate music, my favourite genre is Classical. I don't ned to cry to feel it.

Do you really believe that? You do know it's complete bullsh*t, right? It's like saying "If you don't laugh at this joke, you have no sense of humour". Absolute bollocks. Each person will act to a certain situation in a way they feel just. If they don't cry at the end of Marley & Me it doesn't mean they're dead inside, it just means it's not as sad for them. I mean, what are they supposed to do, feign a few tears just because they're "supposed" to cry?

Personally, I haven't cried in a long time. The last time was when I nearly lost my job. Don't get me wrong, I hate my job, but I need it for many reasons that I'm sure most of you will understand. There was a lot of stressful stuff going on around that time too so when it all came to a head, I let it go.

What are the first signs, as well as symptoms, of swine flu? Apparently there's an epidemic where I live. Ever since seeing Contagion I try to take extra precautions when it comes to stuff like this.

If you or a member of your family has a fever or high temperature (over 38C/100.4F) and two or more of the following symptoms, you may have H1N1 flu:

unusual tiredness

headache

runny nose

sore throat

shortness of breath or cough

loss of appetite

aching muscles

diarrhoea or vomiting

To what? If someone wants to "steal" unlicensed free work, they can. There's nothing you can do, no one will take you seriously. Besides mods are officially illegal because somewhere someone reverse engineered a game to make them possible, and most are converted.

I had H1N1 back in early 2010. It lasted about a week and it was basically the worst cold, worst sore throat, and worst headache I've ever had, combined with absolutely no energy. Just wash your hands and stuff. Probably not much else you can do to prevent it. If there's a H1N1 vaccine, you might want to get it, although I don't know how much it will do. I went several months without the vaccine and didn't get sick at all. It was only a few weeks after I got the vaccine that I ended up getting sick.

Sorry but that is such absolute, total and utter bollocks. Modifying a game and then making said modification publicly available 1) usually doesn't require much, if anything, in the way of "reverse engineering" and 2) is in absolutely no way illegal unless you try to distribute someone else's intellectual property without their permission and for personal gain.

Thanks guys! I guess I'll start by washing my hands alot more. icon14.gif

Pluse, gargle with warm salt water whenever you feel that your throat is sore or itchy.

@Ryan I can't believe it, man. People who get affected by H1N1 usually die in my country.

Yeah, for some reason I thought it was more life threatening. Guess it depends on the person. I'll take your advice about the salt water as well, shiva s! icon14.gif

We had a petting zoo at the fair recently, and apparently some of the pigs were infected with H1N1. They quarantined them, but the damage was already done. I'm scared to even eat bologna... lol.

I cry very rarely, but I hate crying in front of other people so if I do cry it's always in my room on my own. My mum and my sister both cry a hell of a lot, usually at least once a week. They're both really emotional people, and hormonal as hell. They flip out at the slightest thing too. Whereas my dad and I are both the exact opposite. I've only seen my dad cry once which was when his dad died, and then it was just his eyes welling up and a couple of tears rolling down his cheek. I've no doubt he had a proper cry, but he did it when he was alone. I don't like crying in front of other people either, including my own family.

I've always wondered why we actually cry. I don't mean it as in "humans need a dose of man the f*ck up" I mean why can we cry? What's the evolutionary purpose. Is there any other animal that can cry?

As far as I'm aware like most physical expressions of emotions it is to alert other members of the species of how you feel. Other animals can cry, for instance a dog in pain will cry to alert other dogs in it's pack that it is in need of help.

It's also likely that crying is something we evolved long before speech, and therefore long before we could talk to others about our emotional state.
