What happened to Planet GTA? It used to be really great back in the day, with a really active forum. Although I was mostly a little sh*t on the forum back then..

Yeah, as you can see, the website was last updated around a week before GTA V's announcement. Also, the forum link now redirects you to some IGN Boards. Other than it still existing, the site is pretty much dead.

 

I just wanted to know if anyone was maybe a member there once, or know what happened to it. There are other Planet sights, but I'm not sure if their still running.

For real. There isn't some magic, trick gift that everyone will love.

No, it's not a girl.

 

It's one of my cousins but he's going away for college in about a month, so I won't be seeing him that much. We're really close, more like brothers. I want to get the present now because his birthday is in 2 weeks.

You're still a bit vague on the details, but honestly if it was me then I'd be happy with just money. I much prefer getting money because then you can buy what you want or save up for something expensive. Maybe it's different in your culture I dunno, but most guys I know would honestly just prefer the money than an actual gift. If you did want to actually get him something, then I suppose you could get him a watch or a chain or some after shave. They're the generic things that jump to mind which you can't really go wrong with. If you gave us some useful info like interests/hobbies then we might be able to help you more.

He wants to know how long it takes in increments for your username at the bottom of the page to turn a darker shade, how it does when you are idle or whatever.

He means the section at the bottom of a thread or forum where it says who is reading the thread/forum. The names are listed in order of who most recently entered the page, and as the time between them entering the thread/forum gets longer their name goes from white to light grey to dark grey before dropping out of the list completely after quite a while. He wants to know how it takes for you lurking for your name to go from white to light grey I think.

Is there any particular reason as to why the moon has been brighter over the last couple of nights? Normally, when I've gone outside for a smoke, it's pitch black, the only light comes from my kitchen, yet last night and tonight have been pretty bright because of the moon. Last night there were hardly any clouds so it was brighter than it is tonight.

Strange. I was just thinking the exact same thing. Normally I wouldn't think anything of it but I couldn't help notice it was extremely bright when I glanced outside earlier. It's not the first time I've seen a full moon on a clear night (of course in Scotland it's regarded as rare) but it did seem noticeably brighter than usual.

I thought the Harvest Moon was later in the year?

Currently, the latest possible Harvest Moon is on October 11.

 

I thought as much. It goes on to say that it occurs in October in the Northern hemisphere. I thought it was orange too but I doubted myself on that.

Oh, sorry. My only guess is harvest moon.

EDIT: I came up with two possible reasons.

1. In winter the skies are often more

transparent (less water vapor) and thus

everything is brighter.

2. Currently, the sun is in the lower southern hemisphere while the moon is at the northern hemisphere. Which means, the moon is at a great height than sun. Being greater in height can also make the moon look brighter.

The USPS site is really confusing.

 

Oh and one other question. Do business have different quality control standards for different countries? For example, the best quality products go to the US while the rest go to less developed countries who demand the same product at cheaper prices?

 

My knowledge of how business works says no, since it'll really damage the image of the firm in the countries getting the lower quality stuff, but at the same time, the business may be able to sell stuff demanded by the less developed countries at prices they can afford by selling them the lower quality products. So it can go both ways on paper I guess, but what do firms do in real life?

No, there's no such discrimination. Only the best quality products gets exported to other countries (both developed and under developed). However, the price will always be higher which makes it difficult for people living in under developed countries to afford it. This is one of the main reason why so many countries are under developed.
