Have A Question? V2

Is Tank American or European? Are the servers that run these forums American?

Tank is an alien for all we know, although I have my suspicions ph34r.gif .

As for the server location, apparently according to google searching, Whois look-ups and IP Searching, it's somewhere in deepest darkest France, although the email server is in the London Shires of England.

EDIT: A question for you guys/gals to get your head wrapped around and trying to google this problem is bloody awkward. I'm sure there is a way to do this but I just can't seem to figure it out. See the following picture for reference. (lolpaint)

user posted image

Explanation: Figure 1 is currently incorrect as the part that is hanging down (showing red for wrong) is going to hang the wrong way round, if you notice the blue loop is attached to the black horizontal bar from back of the bar to the front of the bar (left to right) and then the loop has been put on the wrong way around so the hanger is now facing the wrong way round. Now it needs to be twisted the other way around so the loop is on the right way around to the correct side (the green side for correct) of the hanger is showing as in figure 2 . But here where it gets tricky, points 1 cannot be removed or taken away temporarily to reverse the loop as they are now permanently fixed and the loop is sealed so cannot be split and then removed, reversed and then put back the right way around.

I hope I've explained that ok and the picture helps, any ideas welcome.

o_0 No.

If I assume the thing that's hanging has two distinct sides, marked red and green, then the two pictures you've shown are topologically equivalent. If you flip the hanging part on left picture, you get right picture.

So I don't know if the problem is with diagram or your explanation, but the question makes no sense. If you have a real setup, can you take a picture, maybe?

Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.

Can't you just rotate it without moving the blue string?

I think it's the diagram. I see the exact same thing.

I think the objective is to switch the sides around without the loop (on fig. 2) becoming tangled in the thread (fig. 1). I don't know if that's right or not but that's what I'm getting. Nevertheless, I still don't know, I'm afraid.

Dammit, your right I drew the picture wrong. Right correction time.

On figure 1, it now shows the 'strap' showing the right way around, but once it 'drops' it twists and then shows the wrong side due to the way the blue cord is hanging.

Unfortunately I can't take a picture of the actual setup as it's in an area where photography isn't permitted, so a drawing is all I can muster, hopefully correct this time.

If it's attached at 1, the problem reduces to a Hopf Link. Unfortunately, linking number of the before and after are exactly opposite, meaning, you cannot go from one to another without cutting anything apart.

@lineusernameguy:

I am so calling him that from now on. I always stress out about how many underscores there are.

or:

Underline

Underscore

Bottom Line

Blank

or just line

I'll probably call him BottomLine

I had surgery 3 and a half years ago

the scars look the same as they did a few days after

they don't see to have healed at all. Why is this?

I know scars never fully heal, but I was told in a few months they should be barely noticable. It is not worrying me, if this was a sign of something bad it would have hit me by now, but it is slightly irritating to look down and see those dumb scars on my chest, plus it kinda makes me feel a tad insecure. (yea, silly I know sue me)

Depends if you do anything with them, or if you just leave them. Moisturizer is key I've been told - I have quite a few scars from operations and my mum had to put a ton of moisturizer on each of them once they were safe to do so and I guess over the years they have faded on themselves too. If you are really that bothered about a scar (personally I think they are great) you could try something called Bio oil. Apparently it can help make scars fade if they already haven't.

Yeah, it won't disappear until you moisturise it. I have scar which I developed after I underwent a surgery beneath my chin. I never moisturised it and it still hasn't disapperared. I didn't care much about it.

Firstly, here's a little background. The text isn't really that important but it is interesting.

The most common examples of photograph alteration and falsification come from communist Russia. Unwanted persons, so-called "enemies of the people" were not only killed, but also removed from photographs where their presence was unwanted. Photographs were altered with the intent of changing the past. Leo Trotsky was a close friend of Lenin, and shared his idealistic ideas about the communist state. In these pictures he can be seen together with Lenin and later was removed from both photographs.

The historical reason for this alteration is that Stalin eventually began to see Trotsky as a threat and labeled him an "enemy of the people". After he was deported from the Soviet Union in 1929, Trotsky criticized Stalin's leadership, arguing that the dictatorship Stalin exercised was based on his own interests, rather than those of the people. This contributed substantially to Trotsky's removal from photographs and history.

Somewhat obviously Photoshop wasn't available in those days therefore my question is, how did they edit pictures like that all those years ago?

Thanks in advance.

Yh use bio oil, it worked wonders for my dad. He was in a coma for 8 months and his muscles had wasted away, then we rubbed a bit of bio oil on his forehead and he'd run a marathon and had his way with 6 women before the sun was down. Well actually it just helped to heal a scar after he'd had heart surgery, but it does work pretty good. His scar was massive as well, it's still there but much less prominent and less noticeable.

Edit: Also seeing as Gig posted on the bottom of the last page and it might not get noticed, here's his question:

I'd say good old fashioned airbrushing and other paint techniques.

I now feel a bit thick that I didn't think of that. I've let myself and everyone else down. Thanks anyway, man.

Bugger... I thought that might be the case, I'm off to try and chop a ring.

Although saying, bugger, chop and ring in the same sentence is probably bad cricket.

According to Wikipedia, yes:

PEGI ratings are also found on some French language-video games outside Europe, specifically Canada.

Rates some (but not all) French-language games in the province of Québec, primarily those that are imported from France.

Is There PEGI in Canada?

If you're looking for the Canadian equivalent of PEGI, that would be the ESRB, the same as the USA.

I should point out to be wary with ratings that are not standard in your country.

I purchased a game from "Game" Australia and when i went to trade it in they did not accept it because it had a PEGI rating rather than the Australian rating thing (forget the name now) and despite arguing with the guy at the store he did not allow me to trade it until i brought in a receipt.

It makes sense though, we have strict game laws here at the moment and a retailer buying and selling game with content that is not allowed here would be something they don't want to do.
