There was this window popping every time when I click any URL. My Norton doesn't says its dangerous. Avast is crap.

@goin-god: Maybe you are right but I find many similarities between the foreign languages and Sanskrit. Like - Sanskrit: Brathu; Britain: Brother

So, you have something that's obviously a virus/malware/bad voodoo. Norton doesn't detect it. Avast does ...and Avast is the crap one? Right.

Font colours are for pussies and look hideous, you wouldn't catch me using them.

I was about to ask you how you made this colored text but as I saw the original quote the question was already answered.

I don't know what to say but majority wins. As usual, Mod removed the link. But I don't have any spywares or malwares in my PC. What happened has happened, I can't even block that window. Forget about it.

Find two numbers whose product is 1/2 n sum is 1/3.

A sum from my 14 year old brother's math book and I can't f*cking solve it. Help?

Are you sure it's:

xy= 1/2

x+y=1/3

?

Because, bearing in mind I haven't done a maths problems for a few years, I'm pretty sure that they can't both be fractions and add up to something smaller than their product, because when multiplying, the product will always be less than both x or y initially were.

Question:

Some people use "effect", "affect", "effected", "affected"... which one(s) correct?

Yes that's the sum.

My mind is f*cked up over this sum since an hour.

The reason you gave is correct but this question isn't incorrect either as he says that his teacher solved it in the class..

If this can help: the chapter is Polynomials.

effect (v): to bring about an effect (n, object)

effected (v, past): to have brought about an effect (n, object)

I have effected a new way of viewing these words in your mind.

affect (v): to have an effect (n) on <subject>

affected (v, past): to have had an effect (n) on <subject>

I have affected the way you view these words in your mind.

"Effect" is passive voice, and "affect" is active I think.

i.e. If something happens to you it has effected you. The person/thing that did it affected you.

@ Maths problem. I'm stumped. I did maths 'til I was 18, I should really be able to solve some crappy polynomial question.

F*ck it. I never liked maths anyways. Bitch doesn't understand me.

I'm sure his maths teacher bluffed an answer to the kids. He wouldn't have got a solution either. Must be a printing mistake of the book itself.

This is the right procedure, but there's no real solution.

Thank you, Adler.

This forum has improved my grammar a lot, just look at some of my posts from last year. Reading what other people post, and asking helped me out a ton.

I learn more from this place than I do at school.

Thanks agan.

Yeah substituting x for y, or in reverse, then using the Quadratic Formula only yields imaginary solutions. I don't know of any other way to solve it.

What do you think will be the best cities to live at in about 10 years from now?

I'd love to see where Dubai is in ten years. One half of me wants the madness to continue, the other wants it to be reclaimed by the desert.

To answer your question, barring any sort of localised natural disaster or political tyranny, these are dandy.

Thanks for the link!

Hmm....I better visit Dubai before it becomes a ghost city.

PS: Nostalgia'd hard over the turtle program.

Randomly popped in to my head for some reason. Used to be able to create some really 'great' designs if you coded it all well.

Oh, and found the 2nd program; Was called Kid Pix.

This is one thing that has always puzzled me. In The Hobbit the term goblin is used widely while the word Orc only appears once or twice. Is there any difference between the two or are they the same?

From what I've come to understand, goblins are generally smaller and weaker and orcs are larger and stronger creatures.

Traditional Orc: user posted image

are sophisticated, beastlike people of the Wrothgarian Mountains, Dragontail Mountains, and Orsinium (literally translated as "Orc-Town"[2]). They are noted for their unshakable courage in war and their unflinching endurance of hardships.

Traditional Goblin:

They grow up to 30 cm and are covered with a thick coat of black/grey hair. The Goblin is usually found wearing very dark colored cloths and a tall cap similar to that of the Gnome.

Does anyone know if its possible to DLNA satellite radio? notify.gif

Provided you can find a Satellite Radio Receiver that is DLNA certified then yes, the DLNA Product Serch Page can narrow down your options. However if you can't find one then you could always use a cheap laptop and use that as most Satellite Radio Providers offer a streaming service on-line although this may eat into any usage caps set by your ISP.

You could also connect a stand alone Satellite Tuner via a DLNA certified Amplifier and the take the feed from that.

OT: @ lil weasel: Your sig "IT is WHICH there is no word Wich in the English." - should finish with "language". Even though the statement is wrong, I often tell women to go make me a cheese and ham 'wich, cause that's how I roll.

And a bit more for the Orc/Goblin talk.

If I wasn't so lazy I would have walked into the other room and scanned the entries from the AD&D Monster Manual, but I am lazy and the only thing in this room is the basic rule book.

I've been told this by a few people, but not sure if it's just one of those old tales that has been spread around, or if there is some fact behind it, but can smoking whilst chewing gum really raise the likelihood of gaining mouth cancer?

Tis true, tis true. As you inhale you will be collecting particles of tar, nicotine and the chemicals in baccy smoke on the surface of the chewing gum, then as you chew you will be forcing those particles into the crevices and gaps between your teeth and gums. This build up can manifest within itself or encourage the growth of bacteria etc and can lead to localised changes into the tissue which can in turn become cancerous.

First I've ever heard that one...I doubt that it is true. Just sounds like one of those scare tactics left over from days of yore - especially since the world is using all sorts of techniques to prevent younger people from starting smoking. Kind of like the old one of catching herpes from screwing doorknobs.

So that one isn't true ? Weight off my shoulders.
