I have a question..

Why do some people write 8000 dollars as 8000$, whereas I write it as $8000. Which one is correct.

The dollar sign is a prefix as far as I know.

Pretty sure it's just laziness. People think 'eight thousand dollars' and therefore write 8000 first, then realise they forgot the dollar sign, so just chuck it on the end.

You use a generator.

I have always used this one in my various BBcod experiences, it seems to be the best.

Confusion rather than laziness I should think. Many currencies - usually those from non-English speaking countries - place the currency symbol after the amount, so people used to those currencies may not realise that for pounds, dollars, euros and so on the symbol comes first.

It all depends on language.

In English, it's $8,000; in French, it's 8 000$. I can understand why they put the dollar sign after the value in French, because you're saying "eight-thousand dollars" not "dollars eight-thousand" (at least that's how my friend justified how it made sense).

So yeah, it all depends on the local customs.

Does anyone know if it's possible to add a 4th siren tone for GTA IV?

Thank you Narcis for providing a more personal answer, which I'm gathering has some experience attached to it, which is why I asked the question in the first place and not just did what any Lemming could do *ahem* (/points up to first quote rolleyes.gif )

For me, Poker was a game that I preferred to actually learn by playing, instead of reading through material to learn of everything. I wouldn't class myself as a good player, and I still don't understand some certain aspects of the game, but I've still won quite a few games against mates down the pub. This is Texas Hold 'Em that I'm on about though - I've seen the actual Poker game being played, where you can change your cards and whatnot, but the preferred version for me is Texas. But yeah, I'd say to just get some mates around who know the rules, in's and out's etc, and just start playing with them, letting them teach you all the rules as you go along.

And yes, I admit that I learnt most of the game from playing it on FB.

At school, as a kid, I remember using 2 programs, and can never remember the names of them anymore - can someone help? It's not important, just more for the nostalgia sake. Anyway, the first program was where you would control a 'turtle' (a triangle), on a blank white screen by typing in some simple code, which would result in a black line being drawn wherever this turtle went. For example, U5 L6 would send the turtle up 5, then left 6...it could actually result in some pretty cool designs if you really went into it.

The second one was what I'm guessing was a really early version of MS Paint. The main thing I remember is that to get a blank canvas back up, you'd stick some dynamite onto it and it would all blow up. Sure someone will know what this one is.

No, it's just different customs. The same way commas and periods are interchangeable when dealing with numbers (10.000,00 and 10,000.00 are the same thing)

And now that's gonna bug me till I find out the answer. I used the same program when I was at school. I'll do some digging and see what I can find.

"Official Gang Alliance" or something. The G stands for Gang (or maybe Group), I know that. It's a separate part of the forum where all the "official" gangs (the ones that you can see on people's profiles, like the Zaibatsu and The Connection) go to talk about... things. I'm not entirely sure, because the whole thing is kept locked off and invisible from all us regular peasant members.

I remember I had a game on PS1 that takes place in a Chinese town and you play in a first person view. You can explore the world and meet characters to have conversations with them. At that time, I didn't know what the purpose of the game. I just wander, go inside buildings and have textual conversations that I don't understand. Also, I remember that it was visually impressive at that time. Does anyone know this game?

A second game. It's a point and click adventure game that I remember playing on PC in 2002/2003. You play by, what I remember, a detective with a black suite. I was stuck in a garden where there's a gardener cutting trees. You have a list of tools that you should use to move forward, such as a garden scissor for cutting plants to pass through them. Does anyone know this game?

I'd love to see where Dubai is in ten years. One half of me wants the madness to continue, the other wants it to be reclaimed by the desert.

To answer your question, barring any sort of localised natural disaster or political tyranny, these are dandy.

My guess is that it'll be a desert village with a population of 15 once the country runs out of oil.

Probably not. I'm sure the first language was spoken and not written. In wich case we will never know wich was it.
