As there isn't a 'Have A Question' in the game section, I'll ask it here.

Do anyone know why do all the laughter of children in games - cutscenes or in the gameplay itself - are always the same? I mean, since RollerCoaster Tycoon I hear the same exactly laugh as in

trailer that watched right no (at 0:16).

 

I know that it is stupid, and I don't think anyone could have an answer to this question, but developers could just invent a new 'sample' for laughs or whatever it is called.

A question for the UK members; Has anyone ever registered on the Jacamo website? I registered and it said that I now have £150 to spend, and proceeded to order something, of which I have received a confirmation E-Mail for, yet still waiting to see if the delivery actually arrives, since I ordered it last night. Anyway, my point is, it seems weird that it gave me £150 to spend without asking for any payment details, such as card details and whatnot. The thing is, even if this order does get delievered, is there going to be some nasty surprise for me? I know it's no massive thing as they don't have any of my details, but just confused as to why they gave me £150 for registering...

Sounds pretty damn fishy to me. Then again, as you said, they don't have any of your details so I suppose you're safe in that respect. You may just receive a promotional letter in the post saying something like "See, wasn't that fast?! Head over to Jacamo.com for more!" or some bullsh*t like that.

 

If you get your order through, you're one lucky git. Let us know what happens.

I'm not that bothered to be honest, since it was just some random stuff I ordered to see if it would work, and they have none of my card details or anything. It's their business that gets bad ratings at the end of the day.

 

And about the same samples being used...I'm sick of hearing the one from Football Factory used when someone gets hit or something.

The Wilhelm scream is a bit of an injoke now for movie/tv fans. Its used all the damn time on Community, Im sure its used at least 5 times in the Blade episode.

Simply put, yes. A lot of folk in Hollywood are proper tight with money, they prefer spending the money on Actors/Actresses rather than things like sound effects.

 

£495 for a huge collection of BBC Sound Effects. Not a bad price considering. PS The Fighter Jet Flyover Sound Effect on this collection, on full though a 3k system... you sh*t your pants.

The Wilhelm scream is different, it's not always just used to save money, it's more used as a simple joke, something to give you a bit of a chuckle if you know what it is.

 

It's become more of a cult thing over time, and film-makers seem to enjoy dropping it into their films, whether they are humourous or not, and sometimes it's not very obvious and kind of hard to catch.

 

I love the Wilhelm scream.

I always recognize other way overused sound-effects, including other screams.

 

One that always drives me nuts is the "car failing to start" sound-effect.

For some reason, it's almost always the same sound.

Now that I've listened to it, yeah, pretty sure I've heard that in quite a lot of films too. Even without the video, it would always me think of kids playing in a park.

This may just be an American thing... and hell maybe no one will know what Im talking about... but Ive been on the hunt for this salt water taffy that comes in bar form, divided into rectangular sections... that kids used to sell in school for fundraisers.. Came in a cherry/strawberry flavor and grape... I cant find it for the life of me. Any one have an idea of the name of it or where to find it? Fiending that stuff lately haha.. so good.
