Nowt wrong with shaving your pits'n'bits, it can actually reduce smells as the sweat (no matter how much deodorant or anti-antiperspirant you use) won't cling to the hair.

Besides why should women be the only ones who can have fun making a landing strip to the fun zone. In addition, less hair down there means its less off-putting for piping on the oboe wink.gif

Agreed. One of my ex's once mentioned to me that she would prefer me to be more clean shaven around my body, so one day I just went ahead and did it - at the end of the day, no-one would be seeing these parts of my body apart from myself and the girl who said she would prefer it. I ended up shaving my armpits, upper body and my downstairs region, and TBH, apart from the obvious benefits it gives off, especially regarding the downstairs region, I felt a lot cleaner in myself. The only real downside I had was the fact that I itched like hell when it all started to grow back.

I find the type of people (particularly girls) that would sneer at the thought of men taking care of themselves in regards to trimming/shaving pubic regions are the same that would sneer at an unkempt pubic region.

See it all the time, especially when I'm applying lip balm ever so masculinely. "You use lip balm? Ha!" "Would you hook up with someone who didn't?"

Would have edited this into my last post, but believe it may have been passed if I had done so. Anyway, I understand this is no medical forum, and that the best place for me to ask this question is probably at a local GP, but I'll go ahead and ask anyway, since we have some smart enough members on here anyway. Now, at some point in my life I was struck with a medical condition that made my back disfigured, and has caused my shoulder blades to actually roll forward, rather than be in line like they should be. Now, I've read up enough of this condition to know that I can get surgery, but my question is, once your bones have formed into a shape, especially my shoulder blades, will surgery actually be able to shape them back into place at all, or am I stuck with this for life? I just find it hard to believe that surgery could reshape my skeleton...

I'm pretty sure that the bone isn't the one that's changing shape, I believe it's the muscle around the bone that changes. I imagine surgery on a muscle is pretty easy. (Actually a search on Google for posture correction has the words "muscle imbalances" and "rolled shoulders" in the description on the first link.)

Anyways, I too have a question. My cat's nose was ripped off today by something. Actually only the bottom half of it was. Where the skin seperates the nostrils he has a pink patch of flesh, and there's a thick scab above it that rolls up like when skin is peeled. We can't make it to a vet for a bit, and it doesn't seem to bother him, but I'd like to know what might be going on with him, and how I might be able to alleviate any pain before he sees a vet.

edit:

Here's a picture of it.

No, it's the actual bone/skeleton itself, not the muscle, that is out of place and deformed.

It does mention in the article that it can be corrected with surgery. Your best bet would be to talk to a chiropractor or surgeon, since they can give you the most educated answer.

I'd agree with this partially, except the chiropractor part as they tend to deal with re-alignments as opposed to reconstructive work, but to throw in my thrupnee-bit.

Surgery can correct bone structure, but it can be lengthy process as it basically involves breaking the bones and forcing them to regrow how needed. This is used quite widely in correcting leg lengths after a breakage or defect, whereby they leg is broken and then the bone slightly separated and pinned in order for the bone to regrow and connect the two parts together again.

When it comes to a flat bone like the shoulder, hip and skull, then the process is basically the same, however I did once see a documentary on this once many years ago and strangely enough it was about the shoulder blade, and they suggested that because the shoulder blade does carry a relatively small load, that it could be possible to actually remove the blade and replace with a resin or plastic one.

However bone reconstruction can be high risk for several reasons, there is the risk of the surgery itself, continued pain until the schedule of procedures is finished, discomfort after the schedule as your body will need time to adjust, weakened bone structure at the site of breakage due to it effectively being a scar and there is the risk of infection either from the surgery or Bone Marrow infections.

Anywho that is what I know of it, but don't take my full word for it as there is folk who've done Med School who'll know a little bit more than me or probably most folk on here.

Poor thing it looks very sore. Keep him inside the house until you can get him to a vet, otherwise it could get infected. If he's in good spirits i.e. eating and drinking as normal then he mustn't be in too much pain. If there's any blood or puss coming out then you could try a clean hot compress to keep it clean, otherwise he might keep trying to lick it himself and that could make him ill.

Is there any way I can permenantly prevent body hair from growing without using an expensive electrolysis treatment?

Poor puss, looks like he's been in a fight with another cat. Don't think I could add much to what's already been said, hope he gets better icon14.gif

As for the shaving thing, I have noticed a great improvement in the odour. I never had probllems with BO before, at least no more than the average person. But now I hardly ever notice it, even after rigorous excercise it's not that bad. It really does improve that aspect. I don't even see it as unmasculine tbh, it's just a bit of hair.

Neosporin and those over the counter antibiotic ointments are safe to use on cats.

Lead means (s)he has workers reporting to him/her.

Senior means there are more than one artist this person was (with exceptions) employed longer.

See, that's what I've been reading up about, and it's putting me off wanting to have surgery done. I know the risks are always there, no matter what the surgery is for, but it's the fact that it would be surgery that's actually changing the shape of my bones, and would be getting metal rods stuck into all these different places.

As I said though, I knew that a GP/whatever would be the best place to ask, but I was mainly asking about how easy it would be to sort out the shoulder blades and back.

Thanks. smile.gif

Would they not just break the bones and then put metal plates into the area so that it wouldn't become disformed again? I would really go to your doctor tell them the deal then they'll just automatically refer you to some sort of specialist within a hospital who will then have a talk with you about it and go through the options.

There are couple of ways, pluck the hair with tweezers it won't get rid of hair completely, it's painful and time consuming, but can look patchy when done. Or the other more exciting way is get a job cleaning out nuclear furnaces, it's very high risk can lead to cancers etc, but the advantage is, you get paid for it, big time.

The metal rods wouldn't be permanent they would just be until the bone has set. But yes a GP and maybe a consultant would be best to speak to.

Oh, I actually thought that they would have been left in there permanently, mainly for the fact that it requires further surgery to remove the rods...

Got to wondering after reading many replies to some topics:

When you see a 'new' topic and it has more than one page do you jump in at the last page to make your comments or do you actually read through them all to see what's already been commented?

By YOU I mean ANYBODY, this is not directed to a specific person.

I always read them all. I don't want to sound stupid and repeat something someone else already said on the last page

If it's two pages, I'll read all the replies. If it's more than two pages, I'll read the OP and a couple of replies after that and then I'll read the most recent replies (probably about 10) since it's likely the topic of discussion has changed slightly.

It all depends on how many pages this new topic has TBH. Say it has only 3 pages or around that, then I will tend to browse over the replies to see what other people have mentioned, then add my reply. If it has over 7-8 pages, then I tend to just read the OP, then read the last few pages of replies, since the topic usually has turned into a debate between a couple of people by then.

The question has too many variables to it though, as it all depends on what the subject of the topic is about and whatnot.

I'm trying to take my old twitter account down, but I forgot the password for it, and the password of the email account connected to it. I've gotten into the old email account before, but now I apparently don't exist.

Is there any way that twitter would let me ask for an account to be removed if I were to prove my identity, or am I out of luck?

edit: Found the password for the old email account. But they suspended my account. I have no idea what it could have been for. Talking to an analyst at the moment.

edit2: No worries. I figured everything out. Apparently the account was deactivated after a yeas of un-use, and I had to use an even older e-mail to re-activate it. Also f*ck my ISP's email service, nothing but confusion.

I've noticed on some filsm/tv programs that when a doctor is checking a mans testicles they ask the patient to cough why is this?

From wiki.answers.com:

The reason that a doctor performs this examination is to check for a Varicocele. A Varicocele is a swollen varicose vein that may be in the scrotum and is usually on the left side.

The physician checks for a hernia, which is when a portion of the intestine decends into the pubic area, and possibly into the testes. When you cough, your abdomen expands/contracts, therefore moving the intestine if it has descended. The doctor can feel this, and determine whether or not you have a hernia.

This question has been answered by a healthcare professional, not an M.D.

Don't you feel your balls when coughing? I feel like I'm forcing a sh*t, you know, but that's close. cool.gif
