So, Blitz, children are in affect, not allowed to see R rated fare

I should know, I got carded MANY times in the 1980s, so I had to get an ID card made to watch damn films! ARGH!

Why do all middle eastern people wear leather jackets? I'm not saying it's most of them, I'm saying EVERY SINGLE person does. Why? It seems like you can't enter middle age and be middle eastern unless you have a moustache and a leather jacket. Then I just saw some (BBC news report) woman wearing one, and then a 10 year old boy!

All middle eastern people wear leather jackets.

You're kidding, right? They don't, but if you want to make sweeping generalizations about an entire group of people, that's your brain-damaged prerogative.

AceRay, Slamman: If a kid starred in a movie that was rated R, of course they'd be able to see it. That's an industry standard made by the movie industry to protect consumers. It isn't a law. The actors in said movies would be exempt since they're not even paying to attend their own movie.

Internal ones, generally no. Laptops tend to have them built into the mother board, normal plug in types do exist though. Depends on your laptop.

The only external usb one I've used was little more than an over priced port expander.

I have a Gateway P79. It has an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 260M card which was great when i bought it and up until this year with BF3.. it can't really play BF3 comfortably.

HOw much are we talking for one of these plug in things?

I'm pretty sure the 260m are sodered on so I don't think you can replace those.

the external ones I know of as I said are little more than video port hubs give no boost to game performance., but they run for about 40 bucks on new egg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16815297001

slam, much like with video game ratings, film ratings are self managed (at least in the US, I don't know about the rest of the world). No real law says any one has to card. But its a generally accepted practice to follow.

Thanks Tryst & Slamman. I contacted that MXM site a while ago to no avail. So tryst, if I just put this port into my computer for 40 bucks, what would it do for me? I would pay for a new videocard... like can I buy a GTX 500 something not mobile and then hook that into the computer through a port?

Sorry I am so ignorant with computers lol

No one of those will only really get you another port to plug a monitor into.

I don't remember ever seeing any thing that actually boost performance.

Some motherboards will let you push some of your system memory into video memory in the bios, but that'll leave you with less memory for your cpu to access and will in all likley hood leave you strugling in other areas.

I hit a browser key in Firefox's latest... by accident, so I'm not sure what key it was but it's brought up a FIND/MATCH CASE tool bar, how do I get rid of the dang thing??

CANCEL that, I finally see the miniscule "x", seems like it wasn't there earlier though (x close the spot/taskbar)

@irvriding, the MXM cards can be obtained via eBay, of course, my preferred route, since they are mostly older gen. Some new tech shows up on the 'Bay here and there, the USB 2.0 can serve HD purposes, only need to see HD-DVD via Xbox as proof! But the dongle solutions are rather poor, I agree. The PCI-Express is what MXM uses, but the PCI Express that replaced PCMCIA should also work for video expansion, as far as I'm concerned, anyone debunk that idea? Anyone?

@Blitz, They wouldn't let me in to see an R rated film without an adult, They may have been more stringent in the past, but it sure as hell felt like a law!

So is there any way whatsoever to increase that performance?

See if anyone's recorded their findings, as one example, YouTube is ace in that regard.

Memory speed is another key to overall system performance

Here's another guide if I missed it prior

Helpful to a degree for DIY projects!

The underside chassis is the basic layout of most add ons, but you have to really remove the keyboard as well as seperate chassis palmrest and lower casing, that way you can see any daughter boards and possible mounts unused, if the CPU and Northbridge are covered by that heatsink-fan or not. (I'm curious as always)

Here's one that WAS listed for sale, not sure any current ones are, but the specs are pretty powerful since it's Core2Quad and should handle some decent gaming as such, 4GB RAM, two HDD slots like TPFS's Toshiba

The last image shows all the chips normally covered by heatsinks, so on the right you have integrated GPU from the looks of things....not good!?!

Slamman you are missing the entire point of the question. How many of these films you tried to go and see were you actually in?

I'm just saying I was turned away and VERY disappointed, but I did mean to cover that area as well. Child actors aren't held to the same rules on set as adults. They also aren't privy to most of the movie, in editing or complete. I suppose the idea of Premiers come to mind, but not everyone who's in a movie actually views it, this is true and fact, some actors refuse to watch their own work. Johnny Depp is one actor who doesn't enjoy watching himself on screen but has made some exceptions

I have a question. I keep seeing 22:22 on my watch/clock every time I check the time in the evening. But, that's not everything. At first I thought it was a coincidence, but this is going on for around a year now. Also, some more twists about this. My home address number is 22, in school I'm 22nd student etc.

That can't be a coincidence. I searched for this on the net, but I haven't found any answers. Does this mean my ''life number'' is 22? Does such a thing exists? Or does it have to do something with cosmology or something like that?

Depends, do you believe in fate, astrology and/or cosmology? It's only really true if you, yourself, believe it to be so. If you think that certain things have a meaning to it, then they probably do. If you don't, then they don't.

It's like asking someone as to whether they believe a certain action or scenario in life (i.e. a dog running across the road at a particular point in time, and then getting run over by a car) is an act of God or a deity, or whether it's simply an instance of cause and effect. If someone is a man of faith, they're going to answer the former, but those who are anti or atheists will naturally proclaim the latter. The same principle applies to your question.

I'd say it's partly coincidence and partly you're noticing it because you've noticed it before. If other numbers crop up you'll likely ignore or not notice them, but the instant you see 22 anywhere it'll register as being yet another instance of that number.

I've had a similar thing with 24. I was born on the 24th, for most of my life my house number was 24, a couple of my account numbers start with 24, the lock on the shed at my last house started with 24 - and also matched the first four digits of my bank account number, which also match my day and month of birth - and so on.

Long story short, it's just a coincidnece. If you start taking note of every number you see, 22 probably won't be any more common than other numbers.

Good point, I always see that with 7:47 or 9:11 on my cellphone when I go check the time. It's very creepy.

With time it's a little different as our body clock (circadian rhythm) keeps track of time remarkably well. If you've noticed a particular time on a couple of occasions and think it's more than a coincidence, you're more likely to subconsciously think to look at a clock at about that time, which would lead to seeing the same numbers much more often.

Relating the numbers you notice, like fgcarva's 7:47 and 9:11, to anything else is a natural reaction as the brain will always try to make connections between similar information. Add to that a little confirmation bias and it's easy to find yourself seeing things as more than a coincidence when they actually aren't.

Upon reading through issue #100 of the Newsletter again, and clicking on a link within the topic, I noticed that certain members had 2 different group icons, but on seperate pages of the same topic. I think Vegas is one of those members. Question being, why is this the case? It was more than one member that this happens to when viewing the topic, of which the link is now broken, but was the Catspider topic, for those who can find it.

2nd part, what was the reasoning behind removing the group pips?

2nd part, what was the reasoning behind removing the group pips?

Regular members confused other members wearing pips for mods and admins.

No, the pips weren't customizable like that - although, you do sometimes get people who use the "MOD" or "ADMIN" pip as their avatar. I think Butters is talking about the official group pips - the AMF, LFM, Z, TP, TC, PF and $$H pips.

I know that pips weren't customizable, and I get what you mean but members still confused group pips for members of the staff, as so I've been told.

Blitz's explanation is still correct. The official gang pips were taken away because members thought that because an OGA member had a pip, they were a mod/admin (because they also had them).

[EDIT] Beaten.
