It's not youtube's fault some videos are blocked in your country. If a song isn't available in your country or if there is a problem with the rights, they have no other choice than to block it. If they wouldn't, then youtube would have been shut down a long time ago.

I know this is based on opinion but i have seen Harold and Kumar many times, and it leaves me craving for Whitecastle every time even though i have never tried it (Being an Australian citizen).

I want to know, is whitecastle really that good? Do you enjoy it? DO your friends enjoy it?

 

Since i have eaten at Burger King how does it size up to that? Is it tastier, or about the same?

Multiply your shoe size with five, add 50. Multiply the answer with 20 and add 1011. Subtract your birth year from the answer (four numbers, f.e 1981). Your answer is a four digit number, with the two first numbers being your shoe size and the two last numbers being your age.

It works in a simple way. The basic operation is (BODMAS doesn't apply. We just have to go from left to right):

 

Shoe size x 5 + 50 x 20 + 1011 - birth year. Let the shoe size be y.Multiply by 5. You get:5yAdd 50. You get:5y + 50Multiply by 20. You get:20(5y + 50)100y + 1000Add 1011. You get:100y + 1000 + 1011 100y + 2011Subtract the birth year. You get:100y + 2011 - birth year.2011 (current year) - birth year = your ageSo it ends up with:100y + age 

 

 

So, the age you get is completely independent of the shoe size. You can use any whole number as your shoe size, as it will always end up in the hundreds and thousands place value, because it is multiplied by a 100. And the age is always less than a 100 (doesn't work 100yrs or above), so it doesn't affect the hundreds place value.

 

If you use the shoe size as a one digit number you end up with a three digit number where the first digit is the shoe size, and the last two is your age. If you use 0 as the shoe size, you end up with your age.

 

For those whom it didn't work, either your birthday for this year has not passed (so use 1010 instead of 1011) or you used BODMAS rule to carry out the operation. Next year, instead of 1011, 1012 will be used.

Don't know like, could swear I've seen someone post their Log, which was rather large. Not sure if the member is still here though, that's the thing, but could swear it was only recently posted.

Not necessarily. Number of commendations doesn't always correlate to medals. I know people with warnings and even temporary bans with medals.

If you report posts responsibly and appropriately (i.e. don't use the report feature too much, don't report people you simply don't like and only report actual rule violations) then you may be recognised for your usefulness. I can attest to this personally. But, if it's in your member log, which nobody sees, does it really matter?

I asked the reporting thing as I wanted to be sure how the system fully worked. I had been busy reporting a few spammers and duplicate topic makers lately. I was hoping not to be wrong in my aspect.

As with anything related to commendations, medals, sexual favours etc. don't do anything hoping to get them as a reward. Do it simply to make the forum a better place, or to spite dickheads. Either way, don't treat it like a transaction of "Oh I've reported 50 posts, where's my medal?".

Something that's been bugging me for a few days now after I saw it in some book; what's the difference between these two sentences, and why?:

 

"My being jealous didn't help..."

 

"Me being jealous didn't help..."

 

Maybe it won't work in that context, but someone will know what I'm getting at.

Well, the first one sounds like it's in a possessive tense - using "my" in that context certainly suggests it's a personality trait but it doesn't fit as well as "me being". I can't explain the how or why but the second one certainly sounds more proper.

I'd say the difference was inconsequential really, but under the microscope, I'd say there is one there. the first reads as if the "being jealous" is a character trait ( as Craig says), similar to saying "Being the jealous type..."; so it's quite a permanent thing. the second makes it sound more ephemeral, like "Me, being jealous at the time, didn't help". That's how I'd see it, but both are equally valid, and unless posed specifically as a question I'd never notice the difference myself.

I agree basically with what the other two posters have said- "my" is possessive, as if describing a character trait, whereas "me" is more subjective and consequential- as if a temporary description of oneself. Personally, I think the former sentence has a better linguistic "flow" to it.

Girish got one (as well as myself) because we're staff. Seems harsh but it is. It was easier to change our names because the amount of work it'd take to change permission masks and such, it's just easier to do so. We did have a system that allowed minor changes for names, but I'm not entirely sure why it was stopped. It may have something to do with abuse of the service, but don't quote me on that.
