GTA IV - Resolution Problems

Hi guys,

I decided to reinstall GTA IV today and now Im having some problems with the resolution.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster BX2450 running with a res of 1920x1080 (Windows 7) and a AMD HD 6950 (overscan adjust set to 0% in CCC because of HDMI).

All my games run perfectly on 1920x1080 but GTA seems to be a bit difficult.

While playing I have a big black border at all sides of the screen. Changing the automatic mode to 16:9 in the options doesn't change anything.

How can I fix this? The resolution is set to 1920x1080 but the game isn't able to display it.

Greetings,

Shaz.

I had this problem with my HDTV at certain refresh rates when using HDMI as well.

Check your screen's maximum hz setting (probably either 25, 30 or 60hz), then put "-refreshrate X" into your commandline.txt (in the root folder of GTA4 - if it doesn't exist, create it). Replace X with your highest hz setting and it should look fine next time you restart the game.
