And iPad is sh*t, like the OP said it's just an oversized iTouch. You can get all the features of iOS on the iTouch. (EXCEPT FOR THE PHONE FEATURE) Why not get a Laptop instead of these sh*tty tablets. You could get a $1000 laptop with a Core i7 and a powerful ATI/NVIDIA GPU. But then I read it had no flash which made me think why the hell would anyone buy it without flash? The only people I can see and do see use them are TV presenters who read e-mail messages and stuff so they don't need to have a laptop or anything. No, nobody's forced to reply but seeing as you posted it, you're expecting some replies. Now that I'm here, the iPad is a piece of technology that's fun to play with but is a bit too expensive and a little impractical for me to want to pay for it. I mean, I can see why people would get use out of it but I'm not in the position to do anything but read, surf the internet and maybe knob about with some apps. I used to be like a lot of the people here who really dislike the iPad: "Oh, what a stupid $500 toy!" Then it started to grow on me when my roommate got one and he let me use it whenever I wanted. It is like d00d and Mark said, the "instantaneousness" of it is what makes it great. With a laptop I'd be required to boot up, log in, open a browser, then get my email. With the iPad it is a swipe to unlock and a tap on the Mail app and it is all laid out in front of me in a great format. That is why iOS and iPad are doing great: it is how easily they run. It is perfect for taking to the gym and watching a TV show while on the stationary bike, or having on the kitchen counter if you want to quickly glance at something online (the cooking/cookbook apps are great too!). So am I getting an iPad of my own (to my roommates delight)? Not yet. I want to wait for this fall to roll through to see if the iPad 3 actually does come out, then I'll most likely get one around Christmas. The first time I used an iPad, I was pretty impressed with it, except I'm not a fan of tablets that are more expensive then netbooks In my opinion, the people who hate it here most likely have no use for an iPad. If they had a use for it, then they probably won't be hating on it. I don't have a use for a tablet, but I still think it's a fairly decent product. It's just overpriced and a bit more restrictive then other tablets I only thought that Bowserchump needed to cool it. It's one thing to say "I hate Apple products" and another thing to call people who like their stuff "morons" I'm calling him closed minded, because once Bowserchump sees a person who likes something that he doesn't, he automatically calls that person a "moron" or anything similar to that. sjaak327 Posted August 6, 2011 Share Posted August 6, 2011 Nice an ipad / ios thread, and with the usual trolls I see I actually "own" an ipad 2 (given to me by my employer), and I do have mixed feelings about it. I like it's portability, and I believe it is a great device for media consumption. It is nowhere near a replacement for a laptop or desktop computer, for that I have high hopes for Windows 8. The problem with the ipad is the closed environment, which simply doesn't work well for me, it might be a blessing for the average non techy consumer, it simply isn"t for me. I like to be able to see and manipulate the filesystem, and be able to install a few apps that for one reason or other don't get Apple's blessing. So the minute jailbreakme 3 was available it at least solved that aspect for me. Now I use the ipad2 mainly for reading email (not necessarily writing, unless it is a short reply, the onscreen touch keyboard isn't suitable for proper typing) and for surfing the web. The latter is pretty good, except of course it's lack of displaying flash or silverlight content,which means that quit frequently, I still have to resume my Windows 7 laptop when at home (which incidentially resumes in a few seconds in any case). I am pretty disappointed by it's battery life by the way, nowhere or at any time, came I even close to the promised 10 hours, 6 to 7 hours is a much more honest and realistic claim. All things considered, the Ipad isn"t bad, but for 700 euro (32gb, 3gs), I could have bought a much more powerfull laptop and still have money to spare. I'm not complaining, since this ipad didn't cost me a thing, but never would I personally spend this amount of money for the limited use the device offers me. I hate the fact that people just buy things because it has an Apple logo on it. It's like a supercar manufacturer making an everyday car and pricing it at £100k. It's quite frankly ridiculous and most people that buy these stupid iPads are idiots. I know that from experience because the people who get one let you know about it alright. You try having a conversation with them and within a few seconds they bring up the fact that they have an iPad. I would love to know what the hell an iPad is actually for. Apple are clever in overpricing them though, because they know that a bunch of simpletons will go out and line up for 6 hours just to throw their money at them. Most of the time these iPads spend their time collecting dust and come out every time someone comes within 10 feet of their residence so they can show them how 'amazing' it is. I remember talking to one person who got so excited about it (and it wasn't even his, it was his brothers) he said it had 6 cameras. I leave you with that. The point of the "i" Apple products is to be portable, and the iPad is NOT portable compared to the iPod. I understand how one may be offended if they have one and for that, I apologize.
