Best place to get support...

I was looking at buying a used Phenom II to put it into my board... I've decided I'm not going to upgrade this computer at any point ( software or otherwise) and will just be getting a new one, but I wanted to make one little upgrade to the CPU since I'm still using the first generation Phenom X4.

The only problem is that I have to flash my BIOS but DFI apparently no longer supports their consumer-branch motherboards. I have a DFI LanParty JR M2RS-790GX... I know there were a few DFI enthusiasts around, so maybe there's still a chance I can get a BIOS update off of a third party site or something like that? So far I haven't had any luck finding anything.

I went to http://lanparty.tw and was able to get to the support page, however no matter what I did after that it would say session timed out. Even the Product pages do the same thing.

I did find their email support http://lp.lanparty.com.tw/portal/CM/cmsupp...xxcmSupportTeam you can try contacting them there and see what they say.

Lastly I found this: http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-DFI-...2RS-slic2-1-req

The first link in the forums is suppose to be a BIOS for that mobo, which does link directly to http://img.lanparty.tw so that shows some promise but to me unless I see exactly what mobo that's really for and the BIOS version and a few other things I would be very cautions of it.

Side note: the second link on there seems to more for Compaq and HP version of that mobo and unless that is what you have I would stay away.

Now if the mobo has a way to back up the current BIOS before flashing the new ones in and you can recover if something goes sideways then I would be less likely to want to try either one of these.

Yeah, apparently it doesn't have a way to back it up unless I get something called an SPI programmer and of course documentation is so sparse I probably wouldn't know how to use it.

I think I'll just have to stick with the first gen Phenom. Oh well, this board is a really good OC'er
