This is the my personal (and most likely final, for now) prediction on a new GTA.

I'm thinking that they'll announce an HD Trilogy pack for Playstation Vita, it will include III, VC and SA, all graphically enhanced.

I'm betting on an announcement before or on the tenth anniversary of GTAIII, I guarantee this will hold some of us over in the meantime.

Who knows, it may even come out on PSN and XBL, but I can totally see this happening.

I would also find it interesting if Rockstar decided to not go that route, but instead go for a similar one with a twist.

They take Grand Theft Auto, the original, make it full 3D and bring it up to par with PSN, PSVita, XBL's graphical capabilities.

Now that would be something different and unexpected and it wouldn't even have to be a major GTA release, how bout' that? biggrin.gif

That is a chart about the hypothetical earnings/development costs of Max Payne 3. If i'm thinking right, it shows that if 9milion units were to be shifted, it would contribute $1.12 to Take Two's EPS (Earnings Per Share) assuming the development costs are correct at $105m (very high!)

We can extrapolate from this some info. If GTA5 is to reach the $2 mark, it would need to sell double MP3's top estimate, around 18m units. Which is possible - which means that GTA5's development budget can be estimated to be very similar to both GTA4 and MP3, $100m. Or, if they are predicted even higher sales, GTA5 must of had a smaller development budget, especially if the EPS is higher by the time GTA5 is released.

Im still shocked at $105m development budget, if that's right, its crazy.

On a different note, this is an interesting yet unsurprising point from the Max Payne 3 announcement press release: "as well as using a brand new iteration of the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE)"

My suspicions were correct, RAGE is still a very much work in progress engine, and is improved for each game. We can definitely expect things to be turned up a notch both for GTA5.

I'm confused with this confused.gif

Here's what I got from it:

It's basically a table showing how much money Take-Two would make depending on how many copies of MP3 they sell. The first block breaks down how much money they would get from sales ranging from 3 million to 9 million, and how much profit they would make - if any - after the costs of development and promotion are taken away. The middle block shows how this would effect their share price, and the bottom shows how the development costs were calculated.

These numbers aren't from Take-Two directly, by the way, they are estimates.

What we learn is the following:

1) MP3 will need to sell 4 million to start making any profit, and 5 million to make any impact on share price

2) Games are very expensive these days

3) If you take for granted that development and promotion costs are roughly the same for all other Take-Two games, then it's clear that Take-Two would need to release games that would shift - in total - about 17-18 million units in financial year 2012 in order to hit the projected £2/share.

3) "Houser Royalty"? 30%? I knew they'd be rich, but not that rich.

That predication is just as possible as anything else in this thread (besides the non-sensual retarded sh*t).

Hey, listen buddy, I don't think it's cool putting down my completely reasonably prediction like that.

I think and I'm sure some others here think it's just as plausible as GTAV being released in 2012/2013.

Also, it adds that much extra profit and time for Rockstar to polish GTAV, whenever it does indeed come out.

The bulk of revenue is immediate when a successfully marketed game comes out. Take-Two gets their money when retailers buy the game to put in warehouses and stores, so the effect of having the release anytime in March shouldn't be underestimated. GTA IV, released April 28, 2008, sold 15 million copies by March 2010, but 11 million of those were sold to retailers by the end of May 2008 (first full month), and 8.5 million of those had sold through to consumers by the end of May 2008. Sales after the first month will take years to match the first month.

Of course missing the release date is possible but they're going to try for March.

So it all comes down to when in March MP3 is released, doesn't it? If it's the last week, then - since financial 2012 starts April 1st - then most of the initial sales will counted in that year. If it's released in the first week of March, however, we can be confident of October 2012 for V.

Thanks for clearing that for me and how much if possible does it cost R* to make a 1000 script game like GTA V

Knowing how long the script is won't help us much. To know how much GTA would cost would mean knowing how big the development team is, what sort of technology they're using, how big the map is, how many songs are on the radio, whether development had to be restarted (not very likely, but still), all sorts of things. We can guess, since it cost $100 million for IV, that V probably cost a bit more, maybe $125 million.

Also, I imagine the article that mentions the "1000-page script" actually means "design document."

Oh please, stop with the GTA series is dead, don't go by this video, for example, which hypes GTA 5, but shows only the competition, which is still sadly lacking for anything like a GTA gaming experience

This combines a lot of good games though, don't get me wrong, but GTA 5?!?! No where! hahaha

Haha, Max Payne 3 will close March and than GTA V will open the March everywhere again.

Liberty City , It's Over!

Opens March Everywhere

Where bro , i'm gonna die if i don't know...

Don't worry it's in Hollywood or something big like that , what you must know is it will be massive!

So why is Hollywood big, exactly? I don't buy that theory either! hahaha

I do think it will be big, but.....

As for Max Payne, he's changed from what I remember, as seen with those early game covers, I don't mind the concept box art on the last page, looks alright

Even if it's released on the last day of the month, all the units shipped to stores and online retailers before the release date count as March income to Take-Two. Stores will buy enough to not run out for a week or two if they can help it.

Using GTA IV again, as of August 16, 2008, 10 million copies had sold through to consumers. 10 million is less than the 11 million Take-Two had sold to retailers by May 31, so Take-Two had already made its money and retailers were still sitting on 1 million copies they'd ordered before May 31. In other words, by the end of May, Take-Two had almost all the money GTA IV was going to make that summer.

Edit: I see the respons from one of the fans talking about the linear style of the first 2 Max Payne's. Seeing that they weren't make by R*, I would think the possibility exists that they could go open world with it still. Keeping my fingers crossed. icon14.gif

No worries. I found the comment and edited my original post. To reiterate, I think the possibility of MP3 being open world exists seeing how R* didn't make the 1st two.
