I'd still say $2 is unachievable without GTA. That chart predicted at very best, MP3 would contribute $1.18 to the EPS.. so they'd then need another game also selling way above expectations to reach $2 EPS, and considering Agent is a new IP, it's not going to have the loyal following of millions like GTA/Red Dead/Max Payne.

Agreed, no way they reach $2 shares without a GTA, RDR didn't even get them there. Also I don't see MP3 selling enough to bring them to $1.18 and by law it's illegal to purposely lie about share projections so they are definitely expecting something to at least bring them close to $2. Personally my prediction is end of April 2012 GTA announced and mid October 2012 release.

GTA series is R*'s main selling franchise. I think it would reach about 3 or 4$ If GTA V was released. Only if they give us what they want. After GTA V I expect Manhunt 3. or Bully 2.

Ha! GTA5 would have to sell 40m, that's half of all 360 and PS3 owners. You'd be lucky Besides if they were expecting $4, they wouldn't of said $2.

It's unlikely to beat CoD in the sales department. But who knows, maybe it will.

 

Anyone that thinks GTA5 is going to achieve a $4 increase in EPS is plain crazy.

Have anyone thought about the fact that both RDR and LANoire released in late may the last two years, and that MP3 is slated for march? I think they are doing it like that to make room (6month) before GTA V releases in late october 2012. They seriously can't make people wait over 4 years, no f*cking way.

 

I also think that they will announce V this october .

What's wrong with hot chick's and gun's...?

It doesn't match the previous boxart style, which is more low key and stylish:

 

The one shown up to now makes it look like some generic action game, like they've just took a template for "Typical Action Movie" and slapped their characters on it, the background art is nice and the scanlines are a nice touch, but the way the characters are, that's f*cking terrible and soo basic.

The bulk of revenue is immediate when a successfully marketed game comes out. Take-Two gets their money when retailers buy the game to put in warehouses and stores, so the effect of having the release anytime in March shouldn't be underestimated. GTA IV, released April 28, 2008, sold 15 million copies by March 2010, but 11 million of those were sold to retailers by the end of May 2008 (first full month), and 8.5 million of those had sold through to consumers by the end of May 2008. Sales after the first month will take years to match the first month.

 

Of course missing the release date is possible but they're going to try for March.

I think that there are far more ppl wanting a new Bully than Max Payne even though I loved the first MP and would love to see another one, I just think that now is not the time. It should've happened years ago. So now it looks like no Bully 2 or GTA 5 until who the hell knows how long. I also think that putting that many years between GTA releases could be dangerous because there IS someone developing a game, in a basement somewhere, that will be the GTA killer. That is a chart about the hypothetical earnings/development costs of Max Payne 3. If i'm thinking right, it shows that if 9milion units were to be shifted, it would contribute $1.12 to Take Two's EPS (Earnings Per Share) assuming the development costs are correct at $105m (very high!)

 

We can extrapolate from this some info. If GTA5 is to reach the $2 mark, it would need to sell double MP3's top estimate, around 18m units. Which is possible - which means that GTA5's development budget can be estimated to be very similar to both GTA4 and MP3, $100m. Or, if they are predicted even higher sales, GTA5 must of had a smaller development budget, especially if the EPS is higher by the time GTA5 is released.

 

Im still shocked at $105m development budget, if that's right, its crazy.

 

 

 

On a different note, this is an interesting yet unsurprising point from the Max Payne 3 announcement press release: "as well as using a brand new iteration of the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE)"

 

My suspicions were correct, RAGE is still a very much work in progress engine, and is improved for each game. We can definitely expect things to be turned up a notch both for GTA5.
