No one would see that coming......... except you, since you just read this.

 

But Hollywood might be something. In the picture from deeeeeeeeothroatergta4 we found Vinewood and the runway map from San Andreas.

Can you feel my sh*t and tell me if it's coming out too? Seriously, guys we are going TOO FAR INTO OUR BRAINS. We're thinking absolute, if you don't mind me saying: BOLLOCKS! If you have at the least, common sense, you will realize, that GTA V (yes, V) will be a completely different engine. Why? It's a new era. Unless it will be named GTA IV: (Insert a title name here), then they will have a long time to produce it. They have to create a new environment. San Andreas & Vice City: Palm trees, neon-lit buildings, etc'. They focused on ONE game, and ONE setting in GTA IV, so they will be mass research that will have to be put into GTA NeXt. They have two upcoming games, Max Payne 3 & AGENT, which both look to be released before another game, belonging to the GTA franchise - meaning they will be focusing a lot more on those two games, before heading back to the drawing board for GTA. If there is a GTA NeXt, they will be in the early stages of production, having to focus on more than 2 games. Just use your brain, it's common sense.

They would be crazy not to use the RAGE engine. Rockstar Games have done a lot of titles with the engine now, so they have some experience with it.

It works, it does exactly what rockstar need.

 

Just because it is the same engine, does not mean it doesn't get changed and improved. Just like Unreal Engine 3 which has been around for years under that name, but the UE3 engine now is much superior to the UE3 engine from 3 years back. GTA5 will look better than GTA4, that can be almost guaranteed. It won't be massively better, but subtly so in all the right places.

 

Developing a new engine is many things:

 

-Time consuming

-Difficult

-Expensive

 

I do expect GTA5 to be the best looking game on the RAGE engine, they may even call the engine RAGE 2, just for some extra marketing hype and incentive for people to buy it (If ever someone needed an extra incentive for a GTA game anyway). But essentially it will be the same old engine as in GTA4, just a few new features and optimizations.

 

On a different topic. It would be stupid for Rockstar to announce GTA now, just as they are about to start the marketing campaign for Max Payne. The instant people know GTA5 is in existant, no other game will matter. They need to announce GTA when it is going to be the next game to go to retail for sale. It's very hard to call, but if i were to be a betting man i am going to go for the following..

 

A bombardment Max Payne 3 trailers/screens/previews within the next 3 months. - Released between Jan 20th and March 10th 2012

Agent finally shown around April 2012, trailers/screens/previews for 4 months or so. - Released between July 1st and September 30th 2012

GTA5 Shown around October 2012, trailers/screens/previews for 6 months or so. - Released between March 20th and June 1st 2013

You might be waiting a while for that.

 

Even if they could use the engine, which they can't, because only EA studios can use it, you'd need a supercomputer to be able to destroy a whole city.

 

Maybe the consoles from 2020->2030 will do it.

Only reason R* changed engine for the new era was because the old one was not supported on PS3 and they did not own it.

SO R* built their own game engine and they will continue to use it.

Euphoria is the physics engine, not the game engine.

A physics engine simulates force, while Euphoria simulates how that force feels to a living thing and animates a living character's response to force or pain. The physics engine in GTA IV and RDR is Bullet, although Havok could be used instead of Bullet and it would be about the same as long as Euphoria was also there too.
