desertfox11194
PC Specs: Quad Core Q8200 @ 2.33Ghz ATI Radeon HD4670 512MB 500 GB HDD 4GB RAM Vista Ultimate 32-bit GTAIV v.1.0.7.0 from Amazon.com download I've tried every method to fix this infamous issue I know of. I've installed cacheboost, which did nothing. I've reinstalled the newest drivers eleventeen times. I've tried various commandline.txt prompts. Superfetch is on, I've tried it off as well. I've tried GameBooster and AdvancedSystemCare Boost mode. I've uninstalled all of the mods I've got, and nothing changed. The game runs at around 30 fps (if I turn down vehicle density, with it full it runs at about 20). My settings can be anywhere and nothing changes.... If I'm lucky the textures will just be blurry. Of course changing the resolution and then back fixes the issue for about 2-3 minutes, assuming I drive really fast and in a straight line. If I average under 80 mph or take too many turns, I'm extremely likely to run into thin air at any time. If it's a particularly bad day they won't load even as I've spawned into the game. They load in the safe house, sure, but I can walk outside and be standing in mid air. I don't know if this part happens for everyone but if I can see any missing textures (well, see the area they should be in) then both the phone and weapons stop working from within a vehicle. Sometimes just getting into a car is enough to trigger the entire map going transparent. Other times I only need to rotate the camera a bit to one side.... and I can only play for about 40 minutes before I get the RESC10 error. If I restart like it says to, I can play for another 40. I can play for another ten before it crashes again if I don't restart my PC. Does anyone know of another solution? I've heard the 4th patch is more stable and doesn't have this issue, and I'd be more than happy to sacrifice some newer mods such as AmbientWars (which won't function with an older scripthook) for a game I can actually play. YankeesPwnMets
You should get 64 bit Windows. 32 bit can't allocate all 4GB of RAM Also, are your drivers updated?
desertfox11194
I can't afford to upgrade my OS right now, or buy an external HDD to save all my data on while I upgraded. It is using all 3.2 that it can and it's also using almost 2GB of the pagefile. The CPU isn't being worked at all, maybe 5% but that's to be expected. I just updated my drivers AGAIN, this time I used a driver sweeper to completely remove them. I'm going to go play and see if that fixed it, but it hasn't fixed it in the past couple days that I've done it. I didn't use a driver sweeper those times though. YankeesPwnMets
If your system is starting to use up the pagefile, then that means your out of memory. The extra 800 MB is crucial since your running out of RAM.
desertfox11194
Sitting here with no programs open except my browser and a CPU/RAM monitor, I'm using 5% of the CPU, 850 MB of the RAM, and 1.2GB of the pagefile. And installing the newest drivers again did nothing.
YankeesPwnMets
How much RAM is being used in-game?
desertfox11194
Between 2 and 2.11GB of the RAM and between 2.8 and 2.92GB of the pagefile. CPU actually dropped to 3%, then spiked to 30 and is staying there. I don't understand why its using the pagefile when theres still plenty of RAM left (talking about idle as well as in the game). mkey82
Don't waste time on those usages, it's pointless at this time. Also, driver sweeper does nothing for you on Vista, so there is no point in using it. RESC10 error is very unpredictable and it's rather questionable what causes it. Usually, after changing the game version it goes away, you may try to delete the game settings as well.
desertfox11194
Thanks. As for the disappearing textures is it true that reinstalling and patching up to the 4th patch can help? I'm using the seventh patch now.
radioman
Thanks. As for the disappearing textures is it true that reinstalling and patching up to the 4th patch can help? I'm using the seventh patch now. If i'm not mistaken, that trick would only work with the Retail(DVD) versions of the game-more than likely the downloaded version will automatically get updated the first time you tried to run the game afterwards? Also, put ALL the in-game settings on Low and that should help, as that is not a very strong video card you have there....the game needs at least 1GB VRAM to run at High settings it seems? mkey82
Yeah, I didn't realize it's a download version I don't know which options does amazon offer.
desertfox11194
Believe me I've tried every combination of settings including all of them on low... If I remember correctly, I manually updated it once I got it. I'd like to try installing it again without uninstalling my current one but the installer won't let me change the installation directory.
