Kratos2000
I was wondering because I'm about to switch to 420GT ..
leik oh em jeez!
Yes, but not by much. It's got 48 cores where as the 9500GT only has 32. I know I say this a lot, but if you can find an 8800GT or 9800GT, they've got 112 cores and would be quite a bit of an upgrade. As would an ATI HD4850, but generally the 4850/4830's can't be found nearly as cheap as 8800/9800GT's. Edited July 6, 2011 by leik oh em jeez! OverTheBelow
I was wondering because I'm about to switch to 420GT .. It won't be a very worthwhile upgrade, if that's what you were hoping for. Like the above said, an 8800 or 9800GT would be a much better purchase.
Kratos2000
I'm not upgrading, video card just died. anyway I need to know by how much better it is, is it atleast as good as 9600gt?
leik oh em jeez!
Nope, the 9600GT has 64 cores. Comparison
OverTheBelow
A 9600gt is quite a bit faster than the 9500gt and will obviously have alot better physx performance in comparison to the 9500gt and 420gt. Though I'd still go for the 9800gt if possible, it'd be much more worth the money.
leik oh em jeez!
Like I've said before in other topics, you can find used 8800/9800GT's for as little as $20-30 if you look hard enough. Personally, I've owned five (if I remember correctly) 8800/9800GT's, bought all of them used and all of them worked perfect.
Kratos2000
This site shows that 9500gt is better at everything, this made me very worried, did Imiss something?
leik oh em jeez!
9800GT>9600GT>GT420>9500GT That's it from best to worst. If some site is telling you any different, they aren't to be trusted. Edit: Looking at some more stats, the 9500GT is better than the GT420 in several areas. So a GT420 might not be an upgrade at all. Edited July 6, 2011 by leik oh em jeez! Kratos2000
That's written here.. http://www.hwcompare.com/6863/geforce-9500...andwidthExplain
leik oh em jeez!
Ah, yes compared to the GT420. Those are the same stats I was just looking at. Generally more cores means a more powerful card, but in this specific case it seems the GT420 is such an unbalanced card there's no one stat you can use to compare it to anything else. I would steer away from the GT420 if I were you.
Kratos2000
I cannot revert, I chose it before I came here /:
leik oh em jeez!
Well then that complicates things. You could always sell it on ebay if it doesn't have the performance you're looking for.
Kratos2000
So, once I'm already doomed - approximately , how much fps would I lose in games like Crysis? which I managed to get to 30 FPS. Edit: I might not be that doomed yet. I called the guy who'd install and buy the card and I probably didn't hear the name well. it might've been 430gt. And he said I might be able to revert. Kratos2000
What research exactly? he called me, woke me up, in 9 AM when I was sleeping, then gave me a list of cards and their costs, that's what I choose because it was the cheapest.
Prometheus
Well sometimes the cheapest ain't the best. What did the list include?

AmyJones
The 9800GTX + is a great card but won't hold up much for long on newer games and hell that card can't play crysis on extreme settings. If I was gonna recommend you a card I's suggest a Radeon HD 5770 1GB

Whoever I wanted answers from, your pathetic personality didn't make it to the list. We can start wishing cancer to each other and fight, or you can just leave this thread. The list contained other cards over 200$ when my planned budget was 150$, obviously couldn't afford. and a few cards worse than 430gt Had no choice. came here to get info on the card

I didn't aim very high but this card is quite better than the one I used to have. I got it today.
