Warren
Hello GTA forums. I'll try to make this question quick. I used the command line things (-norestriction -nomemrestrict) to get rid of the memory restrictions so I could max out the settings (not including view distances). It seemed to work fine, and I got good frame rates. Then, I got the BSOD and ever since my computer has not been booting up properly from time to time and my motherboard gives strange beep codes (and the screen stays blank). So my question is: Is it possible that I have physically damaged my computer by exceeding the amount of RAM that my graphics card has available (the card has 512 MB, the game said I was using around 700 MB)? I assumed at the time that the game would just make up for the disparity by using some of the main system RAM. Thanks for any replies. YankeesPwnMets
How many beeps are there?
Warren
It is usually three beeps (as opposed to the normal single beep). I don't remember if any of the beeps is longer than the others, though. These startup problems don't happen consistently, and taking disks out of the drives seems to help. The fact that the screen does not turn on leads me to believe that there's a problem with the graphics card, but I am not sure.
mkey82
State your PSU model, brand and power.
Warren
I seem to have forgotten what my PSU brand is. I'll try to find the box it came in; I think whatever it was it was 500 W if that helps.
