ChossenOne
I'm just really surprised this has lasted as long as it has. My only glaring problem for me is their, there, and they're. I know the differences, Their stuff is over there and they're not happy when you mess with it. I just sometimes write a sentence and I feel like I used the wrong one. I don't know if I have, and no one ever seems to give me flak about it, but I feel like I am doing it wrong. I also see your being as you're too often. ex: your opinions are differnent then mine your such an asshole! :@ Hmmmm.... "learn to spell first, then go f*ck you're self". That's what I tell 'em. Aha, but it's still the correct spelling isn't it? God I wish I have that dot in my name. You made a spelling mistake and it scarred you for your entire forum life here, deal with it. I'm not a grammar nazi or anything, but it pisses me off when I see something like this http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=455616&st=

If anybody is allowed to get by with mistakes like that, it's non-native English speakers. He deserves some credit too for having the courage to express himself in a public forum while still exercising that skill even though it's obviously not perfect. Mister Pink
Most common mistake I see around here is 'then' and 'than.' And Chossen made this mistake even if he claims he was being sarcastic. It never really bugged me but it does now so I'm going to clear it up for all you cock bags. GTA 360
I could care less how people type. The proper phrase is I couldn't care less. Meaning that you are already at the lowest point of caring and therefore couldn't care less, however "I could care less" implies that you care more than you could which states that you could be at any point of caring from the absolute utmost of care right down to the point where you almost don't care at all, but not at the point of total carelessness. Your inaccurate phrasing lands you in a situation where you mean the opposite of what you are trying to say.

It just goes to show how many people actually don't listen to what they're actually saying. They just spout out wrong phrases not even thinking of what it means. @girish: I was supposed to say 'on' not 'off' just in case you think that and also I pointed I make loads of mistakes like leaving out letters, my keyboard is crap as well as my typing skills so go easy mister! Benjimino234
Well this is a forum and you're publishing your thoughts, feelings and communication only through the one and only means of communication which is text. Also it's not a active form of communication such as a conversation where a reply is always immediate. It's passive so it's not always two-way and things might not always be clear. Good grammar, spelling and sentence structure to a clear and understandable status is required so you don't look like an idiot or illiterate when your publishing. However it can be over analyzed and that's being a 'Grammar Nazi' but still, it's understandable for foreign non native English speaking countries and their members posting stuff that may not be clear. But for god sake it's, 'you're' not 'your', I thought you learn that sh*t in primary school, so I do have some grammar nazi in me but it's partly good. Summarising, yes. You should have good grammar, spelling and sentence structure in order to show yourself to be literate and understood by the literate public. Flesh-n-Bone
The only place on the internet where shortening words is understandable is instant messenger and twitter. Anywhere else it's just stupid and makes you look dumb. I'm not one to complain about perfect grammar though. If your entire post is made up of lowercase completely, I'm not going to complain about "use capitals" cause it's totally unnecessary. If it's understandable "typing like dis" wont bother me much either. I just hate when somebody exaggerates by using numbers in the words. "Gr8", "go 2 bed" and such are annoying and childish. But one thing I definitely wont complain about is "make your grammar perfect and use capitals, punctuations and proper sentence structures" it's just taking it too far. And I wont make a big deal out of "your" and "you're" either. Edited July 10, 2011 by Flesh-n-Bone

NaidRaida
Maybe you didn´t get the point. Things I say which are separated by a "---" have nothin to do with things above or below this line. I didn´t ment you are 12 years old, but typing a username correctly is the minimum respect I except. If the name sounds strange or difficult to spell, then I just copy and paste it, before it gets more strange as it is already. --- Besides this a lot of people can´t type easy words - like you said, if you were serious in your previous post. Sadly now you have proved that you´re dumb. Sorry. Now go to bed, it´s late enough for a twelve year old. Hop hop, it´s late. You don´t like my text color? Here you got a handkerchief for your tears to dry my friend. And now: Bedtime!
hristobg
It's not much ontopic, but I want to ask you something. Because I'm not learning english, I want to know more. I want to understand all about past time and future time, these words "would", "should" and the kind of. Also, why some words in past time ends with "-ed", and some not? Like write - wrote. I can't understand that. Also, when I should add "-s" after the word? Is it only for plural and possessive? Or there is more? Help, please. Kiabbo
Well I'd say that at least intermediate english would be the best option. It really sucks to try to understand what people are saying when they use google translator or something like that. Some cases are even worse.
