Mati
hey i maed dis tipicz so wee can... Do you think a member is more respected and memorable if he uses proper grammar? I personally don't like if a member tries to act 'gangsta' by writing things like ''plz'' instead of ''please'' or ''u'' instead of ''you''. Drift-Kingz
If people can understand what you're addressing, then that's all that matters.
Voodoo
Using poor grammar is like trying to communicate effectively while wearing a clown mask.
BGModder
If people can understand what you're addressing, then that's all that matters. Pretty much this. The only reason I would use proper grammar beyond this on a forum is because of habit.

Icarus
I think Drift-Kingz made a fair statement, although if you post like, "yo guyz wut u think i shud get 4 mah neXt game????!??????" then there's a fairly good chance I'm just going to skip over it. If you take the time to mind your grammar and spelling, I'll take the time to read your post.

UNRATED69
I cannot stand it when people use poor grammar. I can understand it if they're from another country, and therefore don't speak English very well, or at all. But what really pisses me off is when the person comes from an English speaking country, and whose first, and probably only, language is English, posts like a complete retard. It's inexcusable if you ask me.
GTA 360
I know for one I like it when people take the time to think about what they type, I try my best, sometimes even going back and edit posts because of spelling and/or grammar mistakes. Would you like to see newspapers and magazines in the form of: De waz a guy walkin down a street dat woz mugd n kild by som1? I wouldn't, so why should anything else be in that format? I cannot stand it when people use poor grammar. I can understand it if they're from another country, and therefore don't speak English very well, or at all. But what really pisses me off is when the person comes from an English speaking country, and whose first, and probably only, language is English, posts like a complete retard. It's inexcusable if you ask me. Yeah, that's another point, most of them live, and were born in an English speaking country, so SPEAK ENGLISH, it's not f*****g hard! nlitement
I think you actually mean good form, style, and punctuation, not grammar. But yeah, people usually mean that when they refer to grammar on forums, so I'm probably just nitpicking. The other annoying thing is when people try to sound smarter by using "fancy" grammar incorrectly only to make themselves look a lot dumber in the end, like "I don't know whom I am" or "are you talking about Jim and I?". GTA 360
There are grammar issues as-well though, like incorrect word order and lack of capital letters ect.
Straznicy
I've got much less respect for people who use "text speak" and neglect basic grammar and punctuation. It strikes me as lazy, childish and a further threat to the dwindling intellect of the general population. The exception I make is for people making texts when they're drunk/high. It's difficult enough without making sure you've employed commas correctly.

It's inexcusable if you ask me. I tried to find some sort of grammar error in there but i couldn't find one. Anyways, I really don't care too much. As long as I can read it easily, it's fine. I have a bad habbit of not putting apostrapies (sp? ) in and not capitalizing words. Only when I am typing though. Now when I write. Typhus
Internet slang is the biggest no-no for me. If something's funny, just write that it's funny. Don't use words you just pulled out of your arse. 'lol'. What does that even mean? It's not a word. It's a crutch for the ignorant and lazy. Almost as bad as 'tldr'. If I had my way I would anally violate every person who ever used that slang nonsense with a lubed chainsaw. It's not funny, it's idiotic. And for using it you are turning your brain into soup. LITERAL SOUP. Broken English I can forgive, it's not like I can speak Romanian or Spanish, so who am I to judge? But internet slang is f*cking disgusting. And don't try to defend it, just don't. I'm right, you know I'm right.

leik oh em jeez!
Text speak? I use proper grammar when I text. f*ck it, I've got a full keyboard on my phone and I'm not paying by the letter or anything.
d00d
When people do this on facebook or whatever the same applies - I won't read it. It was understandable during the texting era when it made things cheaper but now there is no excuse, it makes you look like an attention whore IMO. ska
It doesn't bother me when kids write terribly, because they're pretty much brain-dead anyway; but it's when full grown adults do it. I see older family members and friends abuse grammar and punctuation like there is actually something wrong with them. A common excuse I hear is, "Oh, well it's the internet. It's not the same, and nobody cares". When in fact, a lot of people such as myself do care. Not to mention it makes you look education was an afterthought. DannyBee
Yes, my first impression of someone's character on the internet is often by the way they type. If they type like a 12 year old with a broken hand then I am not going to respect them very much, 'u see wut i iz saying m8'.
Voodoo
Somtimes I leave I's like i's instead of writing I. Hope people can accept that. Not capitalizing "I" is more a reflection on you than on your grammatical skill.

Beastly40
I'm tired of internet speak, I hate the fact is that it's all the rage with the friends and other teens I know. I prefer to spell out these needless abbreviations and sometimes when I'm on a site, I have trouble trying to figure out these abbreviations, so I go to Urban Dictionary. Good grammar needs to be important to me or else I just go "huh" or "excuse me, could you repeat that?" Internet Speak to me is just pointless. GTA_stu
As long as people make an effort to spell properly and use proper grammar, I'm ok. I'm not bothered if it's not perfect just as long as they tried. If there is a flag of a country whose first language is not english, then I don't care. But "u" instead of "you" and "r" instead of "are" etc is not excusable for anybody.
