Icarus
Depends on those who are the power controlling body in a country. Such things usually are handled in Politics so but I don't think he was guilty(no offense). Do you even have the slightest clue of what you're talking about? Xboxless
Half of the people in this topic. Also, I've been wondering what makes her case so special and deserving of this may followers. There are plenty of other murder cases, so why is everyone so focused on her? Little white girl. You know how it is, if it's a little white girl, the media goes crazy. also, I didn't really follow it, but from what I gather, they never really had actual evidence that proved she killed her daughter. Yeah, she partied after her daughter went missing, yeah she didn't report it, but that does not prove anything. (well, other than she is a scumbag) You know what they say, you may not be guilty, but if the crowd thinks you are, then you are.
Icarus
Little white girl. You know how it is, if it's a little white girl, the media goes crazy. Same reason why the Natalee Holloway disappearance got so much attention; she was a beautiful, white girl who came from a rich family. The media spent so much time devoted to that where it got to the point of it being sickening. It happens to many people, but nope, they just had to focus on the white princess because it was so important that we know all the details of the case. lil weasel
Well it seems the idea of Rule by Law isn't so popular now. So the American people can save a lot of money by Disbanding the legal system of Courts. We can go back to the King's men. When someone is accused the Police arrest them. If there is time the Person will be put before the people to prove that they are innocent. If the accused can't prove beyond a doubt that the crime wasn't committed then the people can punish by whatever means is currently popular said criminal. Should the accused actually prove to the satisfaction of the majority of people that they didn't commit the crime then the accuser must pay the penalty. A quite simple return to the old law. If the criminal is executed then we won't have any Recidivism. There would be none of the nonsense of appeal since the people have spoken in the majority. Wasn't there a proverb or some saying that, :It's better to hang 10 innocent men than to let one guilty man free"? Nearly forgot, some basic concepts of crime and law: It is a given that the police never lie. The prosecution is always honest and above board. The Police never arrest truely innocent people. When sworn to tell the truth a person never lies because God will punish if they did. If someone else did the crime the guilty person will stand up and admit the crime before the trial is over.(Perry Mason syndrome) Honest and innocent people have nothing to fear and should speak freely. There is no reason to not allow searches, if you are innocent. Edited July 7, 2011 by lil weasel
Voodoo
It's true that the popularity of this case probably had a little to do with the fact that Casey is young, white and basically attractive. The main reason so many people followed this case from the beginning, though, is because of all of the tremendous lies Casey told both before and after her daughter went missing and how insane it sounded when she stuck to them even after they were proven to be lies. trip
whatever, that doesn't stop the world from going to hell in a hand basket It is hard to really peg down the date of the origin of that phrase. The best one I think goes back to the 1920s. So the world has been going to Hell in a Handbasket for a long time now. I don't think another child killing mother is going to add that much to the current rate of travel. As others have said, the jury was privy to information not in the public domain. They made their decision based on the avalible evidence. You may not agree with that decision; in your own opinion it may be wrong, but in light of the evidence that was available to them that is not available elsewhere, then I think it would be fair to say that they had a better understanding of the case than any of you armchair-observers. Robinski
A lot of the posts in this topic seem to amount to "Evidence? Psh, I don't need evidence, I've got intuition". Just going to say I never want to end up in a court rooms with any of those guys on the jury.

Slamman
I find it interesting in some regard, having watched many legal TV dramas, you'd think they'd get a case going against the father, since he's guilty of something nasty, or more?!?! The dysfunctional families you have to watch out for, they will snap in lethal rage the odds seem to suggest!

Slamman
Please, there's nothing ironic about it. My family is great, very supportive, but my folks do want their money back. I suppose some get a free ride?? As for Casey Anthony .... the news is playing it like "Where in the World is Casey Anthony?" Like they forgot all about death threats and more commenting on the cost of the coverup hoax as to where she's in hiding in the USA, thought to still be Florida and her cover took the small plane flight that was being tracked to the West Coast Edited July 20, 2011 by Slamman
