Hmmm nice bike
Here's a link to it on CNN, it's basically an up-to-date timeline. EDIT: A full article on the BBC News website. As for what I think, I think she got off too easy. Only guilty of four counts of lying to law enforcement Why on earth would she wait 31 days to even report her child missing? It honestly seemed suspicious to me from the beginning. Edited July 5, 2011 by Claude94

Icarus
I really hate to be the one to say this, but none of us are qualified to make an assessment on the verdict. Were any of you in the courtroom? Did any of you hear all the evidence that was brought forth? Yes, it was suspicious she took a long time to report her child missing, but that issue may have been addressed in court. Before anyone calls me unsympathetic, I do feel bad for the innocent child losing her life and I hope the responsible party is brought to justice. If it happens the mother is the one who truly did the crime, karma will get her. Look at O.J. Simpson: he got off on murder, but then he ended up in jail over a decade later for armed robbery. [EDIT] If you still want to blame someone, blame the prosecutor. It is their job to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. Edited July 5, 2011 by Icarus. SlickSpencer8
This is complete bullsh*t. Not one freaking charge. Straznicy
If the courts aren't going to anything then the hordes of angry people outside her house will. I'd imagine she'll be getting a new identity and relocating. Like Icarus said, nobody here has seen the full facts of the case presented before them, so you cannot make a fair judgement. From what I have read about the trial the media has been very condemning of Anthony throughout this case, and selective in the details it has presented. She certainly appears to have acted suspiciously in the circumstances, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence making her guilty without doubt, which is what it all comes down to at the end of the day. Unless you're a man or a minority.

You're not allowed to do so in Canada (unless the judge grants permission, but that never happens) so I assumed it was the same in the United States. The-King
I still have a hard time believing people actually gave a sh*t about this for three years. I'd say 'thank f*ck it's done with,' but we all know there will be sh*t-tons of followup reports over the next few months. Oh well, more time to dedicate to not giving a flying f*ck about American news networks. Voodoo
I think the main draw for me was the fascination I had with the extent of her lying. Voodoo
Actually, the only items in evidence that weren't shown to the public over the feed were the graphic images of the decomposed skull and bones of the child. This was only at the request of the judge. They still showed the reactions of the people in the court when those images were shown to the jurors, though. They also showed all of the other images and physical evidence in court to the cameras as well as all of the recorded interviews and witness testimony. I Love Anna Kournikova
Icarus that makes no sense to me. It just confused me. And voodoo, I was not aware of that. They usually withhold a lot of key facts. there was one a few years back here in california where they just didnt give all the information. With this verdict they either did the same and said they showed all the evidence, or the jury are all just complete morons. I dont get how 12 people could say innocent based on the evidence that was shown to the public. There is something fishy about this verdict. I know everyone is intitled to a fair trial, but its gone too far now. Its becoming to fair for the suspect and not fair at all to the victim's. I dont see how this is fair for all parties. What goes around comes around though. This lady will not have an easy life. She wont be able to get jobs or anything. people will look down on her for the rest of her life. maybe the jury is taking things into their own hands knowing that if she got the death penalty she would be sitting on death row for the next 40 years. Im just rambling now. SF Giants 2010 - 2012 - 2014 World Series Champs
Voodoo
Yeah, they literally showed every minute of the trial on the live feed. I think the prosecution did the best they could with what they had. If the body would have been found sooner, there would have been better evidence of her cause of death. Unfortunately, it sat in that marsh through a hurricane and the subsequent water damage destroyed most of it.
Attorney General
The evidence the prosecution had was all circumstantial. No eyewitness testimony, and no confession. They hardly had anything concrete to work with. Had the prosecution gotten her on the stand, they certainly would have tried to rattle her with the hopes that her story would come apart. But the photos of her partying in the days after her daughter went missing weren't enough to prove the murder count beyond reasonable doubt. What they could prove was beyond reasonable doubt is that she lied to investigators...and she was convicted for those crimes. Look, I'm not saying she's innocent; I think she was guilty as sin. But that's the way the criminal justice system works.
Moonshield
If I wanted to subject myself to it, I'd turn on Nancy Grace right now to see how red in the face she is. I understand the outrage, but this is the US justice system. They didn't have any substantial evidence, and there were expert defense witnesses. That's how it works. sofa_king
Im surprised everyone thought she was so guilty, based on the closing arguments I would have done the exact same things this jury did. In America we assume innocents, and the government has the burden to prove you guilty beyond all reasonable doubt. Better 1000 criminals go free than one innocent get convicted... pretty neat really..
Rown
I was pissed the whole time the trial was on television. They made a circus out of the death of a little girl. What the f*ck? Makes me feel that cases should only be broadcast with agreement from the defense, prosecution, and the court itself. Otherwise we all should have to wait until the case is decided before we know what happened. Rown
Robinski
From what I can gather about this case as a complete outsider (having not heard about it at all beforehand) it seems like the correct decision was made. Maybe not the "right" decision, but the correct one. It would appear that everybody is convinced that this woman murdered her child, albeit without any actual evidence to prove it. It is sad to see that the person responsible for the young girl's death will without having to face the consequences, whether that person is Casey Anthony or not. Fact is, there wasn't sufficient evidence to find this woman guilty, and therefore in a civilised court she should be found not guilty. Reminds me a lot of the Madeline McCann case, where the parents have been suspects on/off ever since the disappearance, although enough evidence has never been found to bring it to proper investigation. Also, I guess that I learned today that court cases in the US can be broadcast live. I knew you guys could record them and broadcast the tapes, but I never knew you could do it live. Makes the whole UK court reporting system seem a bit draconian; we have to have artists do quick sketches of points they believe to be important and/or needing visuals for a news report.
