Spider-Vice
Yes, the card is too weak for the game. The game is too advanced graphics-wise for that card. OverTheBelow
okay.. but those aren't exactly the most graphically impressive games available. Even then you can't just compare how one game runs to another.
friendly luggage
There's no harm in trying GTA IV eh? Buy the normal DVD version so if it doesn't run the best, you can revoke the code and use it in the future. The game's like a tenner on Amazon (£10)
radioman
btw i have 1,7 graphic RAM so isnt that enough That 1.7GB is TOTAL VRAM-it is shared with the OS(Intel cards generally only have like 128MB or 256MB of dedicated vram(from experience with the Intel Video cards I have had)(dedicated vram is what is needed for games)... You can run III, VC, and SA just fine on Low/Medium settings, but not a graphic intensive game like IV.... gonna try to put on san andreas -.- mod it all the way That would depend on what version you have-seeing how the only versions of SA sold today are V2(Retail DVD) and V3(legal downloaded version), you cannot mod the game-V2 is moddable to a certain extent(except for .img editing) and V3 IS NOT moddable....Just a freindly heads up on that part... luceberg
Are you sure this laptop only has Intel graphics? I think they usually have nvidia or AMD card also.
YankeesPwnMets
According to Dell, there is also a Radeon HD 6470M on the laptop as well. I don't think that GPU would run the game well, but its worth a shot. @original poster: Download and install this: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/wind...ob_win7-64.aspx Also, get rid of all that software you get when you get a new PC. All that bloatware really has a pretty big impact on performance. I'm only counting in Danish kr,- Sure my new build is more expensive, but you dont really need it all for casual gaming. When i say its fairly cheap, its because the i7 2600k only costs half of what the E6750 cost when it was released.
Exxon
The pricetag of my pc is visible in my sig, cheap or not? The pc with 350 W power suply and GT 220 was €500, upgrade was €280. That's in euros, in dollars it's $1.102 YankeesPwnMets, your pc costs about €1500 in my country, waaaaaaaaay to expensive for my parents' salary The max is €0 as they're saving money for our backyard

ccrogers15
If you hack your INI files aka drivers on your PC for your graphics card, download the driver for a supported card, and copy all the text from the supported card driver to your driver file. Note that i did this and it worked on my PC, but my other pc crashed. Also it tricks the game to run, however it runs like a turtle. VERY SLOW. Also it could burn up your video card. radioman
A 6470 isn't really much better than Intel graphics for gaming Are you sure about that on the 6470? Cause if a HD5470 coupled with Intel HD Graphics can get an avg. of 62fps(as seen below), then a 6470 should be able to get a lot better fps? I get an avg. of 62fps with the game. 2011-04-28 05:18:48 - gta_IV Frames: 3512 - Time: 56020ms - Avg: 62.692 - Min: 36 - Max: 90 This is with: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Intel Core I5 Quad Core(4 cpu's) @ 2.27GHZ with upto 2.93GHZ w/Turbo Boost 6GB DDR3 RAM ATI Radeon 5470 AND Intel HD w/512MB Dedicated VRAM and up to 3223MB total vram(2 cards with Switchable Graphics) IDT HD Audio(Beats Audio) Original game version-NO Patches. Only thing that has been updated was Social Club app. This is on High settings. Fraps was used for Bench mark-by pressin F11 key in game.... Those are my benchmarks by the way...I don't know much about the inner workings of computers(so no harsh statements or flamming, please), but I would think that a Intel HD when coupled with another video card would add more vram to the system and thus add more vram for games(that's how I think I get such good performance, as I have over 3.2 GB of TOTAL VRAM)?
OverTheBelow
Intel integrated graphics usually have 128mb of dedicated VRAM - the chip shares system ram and thus you get your final value of 3.2gb total 'vram'. Either way, a higher total VRAM does not equal more performance in most cases seeing as it's often a struggle for any game to use more than 1GB vram at resolutions lower than 1080p. Lower than 256mb of video ram however and you will see performance issues on most games released in the last couple of years. The 6470 and Intel chip will not work together - the dedicated card is merely turned off under idle to save battery power by using the integrated card to render the display. When the dedicated 6470 is enabled, you will have 1GB of video memory available as it does not share with system ram. An average of 62fps on high? Yeah, right. I don't know how you recorded that benchmark (what location, weather, traffic, etc) and at what resolution. A fixed benchmark (that does not truly represent gameplay) will not change the fact that the 6470 is not a good gaming card. Fact.
