Does R* read our wishlists?

Well the GTA wiki says that they do read our wishlists, we also got proof during the GTA:IV wait. Everyone wanted Ragdoll and we got it everyone wanted a new engine and we got it etc. What do you think? Does R* read our wishlists?

BTW: I think they do imo.

I don't think they do BUT I could be wrong. I think saying they do is a good way to get people involved and hyped up.

this thread seems alot like another one but ill say the same thing (sort of) i bet they do to get feedback on ideas and games in the past to use on new games and get better sales, imo

I have read in the past that Rockstar Games employees/representatives actually do read the forums and popular fansites for their games (including Grand Theft Auto)--they just don't have accounts or post (for obviously good reason as they would be bombarded if they did). There is no doubt that they read through the posts, thoughts and suggestions that we make from time to time. Now, whether they consider our thoughts and suggestions is altogether, a whole different matter.

they might have accounts but are really descrete with it and they blend to act like the rest of us to maybe get a critical question out to see how people react imo, but i could be wrong

I'm sure there are a lot of R* employees who like to take a little look at the fan sites, just out of pure interest. We are pretty much like a giant think tank, so I would be surprised if there weren't at least some things in GTA games which have taken ideas or inspiration from this site or other similar ones.

There was that trip to New York for all the top guys from the different GTA fan sites, so R* appreciate what the sites do for them. But I don't think they go to the wishlist section and read through it, just the site in general. If they took even a scrap of notice to the wishlist section not only would the poor buggers go mental, but the game would be a mish mash of terribel ideas set in SA.

They might read them but they certanly dont take ideas of this forum... thats the original rockstar games way, every gta, they come with some crazy ideas for the game. Some dude posted a topic a while ago with a mail recived from r*. He wrote them some ideas for the next gta and they replayed something like: Thanks for the ideas but we have our own developers coming up with ideas.

Doesn't Rockstar Toronto have an account on this forum?

And they probably take a peek at them, I can't see them reading every single post in that thread...

They do but that was for the purpose of assisting with the support of the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV when that was first released as it was riddled with bugs. They wouldn't be here for the purpose of taking note of ideas or suggestions, in relation to the next Grand Theft Auto; posted by the community.

You don't really think that Ragdoll and a new engine was put in the game, because some people on a GTA fansite asked for it, do you? Those would have been in the game regardless.

Finn 7 five 11

I am sure they do look here for feedback, and inspiration for new ideas, but i wouldn't say they rely on this site, they just see what goes down well and what doesn't.

This thread is along the same lines (only a few below yours)

According to the mod there have been R* employees registered on this forum.

It seems stupid that they don't read and care for the wishes of their fans. They make the games for their fans and them to have fun.

Planes wouldn't really work In liberty city. If it can take us 30 seconds tops to fly from one side of the map to the other in a helicopter, just think how pointless a plane ride would be. Also there's the fact that Planes in Liberty city (New York) would cause a ton of controversy as some dickheads would no doubt try to recreate plane crashes similar to Sep11th.

yeah but that's just an example. They also took out the rhino, the minigun, homing rocket launcher, the chainsaw, the katana,a bunch of vehicles, basketball, the large amount of clothes, fun random minigames like the triathlon, they made the map smaller, etc. suicidal.gif

Yes. And if I remember correctly alot of people said, why not make it more realistic. So wish granted, they did.

I'm sure R* employees view this forum, like their community managers and stuff or support staff. Don't think the Houser's spend any time here (not that they shouldn't, must be cool having a whole site dedicated to your own creations).

Like someone already mentioned, the admins of many big GTA sites including this one all got invited to New York for a hands-on preview of GTAIV. I think it was actually even before anyone else like IGN got a chance. So at least they consider us as important.

It's also about finding a balance between what fans want, and what fits in with what the writers created. The location is usually R*'s choice, which is a good thing cause it keeps us guessing. Liberty City is too small for planes, keep in mind that the real New York city is much bigger so just cause you can fly a small plane around in real life doesn't mean it works in Liberty City. Not to mention criticism they would get from the likes of Jack Thompson, because you know there would be vids on YouTube on Day 1 of people crashing planes into the highest building. There were many more reason like complications with developing aircraft physics on a brand new engine (the helis aren't exactly perfect either, but at least we got them in the end). So I think it was a sensible decision, they weren't needed.

But I definately believe they view this site. Of course they can't include everything we want, THEY are the developers, but ideas and thoughts are taken and expanded upon to fit the game. We'll just have to wait and see how much of those wishlists have been taken seriously when GTA 5 comes out.

@SmC12:I sincerely think that the whole realist aspect of IV was more of a developer's decision, rather than the thoughts of some dudes in a forum.I hope so,at least, because if they keep listening to the fans soon we'll have gasoline and traffic laws implemented, and none of us want that, right?

Well, R* does have a member account here (R* Toronto), so they do know about this site. It'd only be fair to assume that they probably have some other accounts here, maybe a few employees viewing as guests. I'm sure they've seen the wishlist, though I doubt R* really monitors these forums, seeing they amount of repetitive, useless sh*t that gets posted here a lot. For all we know, they could be lurking right know.

I also doubt that R* takes into account most of, if anything ever posted here, besides the obvious stuff.

If they do it's three main things

A. Glitches and things that pissed off a lot of people, including vechices, missions, characters

B. Things people REALLY wanted (f*cking Planes and parachutes)

C. The Concept Threads for new ideas maybe, but I doubt it

Like I said they don't take all our ideas and just apply them, but there was definately a lot of people who suggested more realism in the game, so it's possible that's what gave R* the idea to move to a more realistic game. But of course that isn't the only reason it turned out the way it did, but I'm sure the opinions of the fans impacted it in some way.
