mr_musica
Assuming that R* could be waiting for next gen consoles to show up to bring the GTAV rabbit out of the hat (pretty deep hat as it seems to me by now), do you think the Wii U controller could improve playability on GTAV? At first I thought it wouldn't be practical to have info on the controller making you look away from the TV in order to find a button or to read some stats or to follow a map (in a GTA or any other game at all). However, sniper rifles, rocket launchers and maybe binoculars don't seem such a bad idea. And if I want to play with a tiny display I would get a PS Vita (not in my plans either hehe) I'm not so much of a Wii fan (or Nintendo products for any matter) but since Nintendo is the only company that has presented their next step, that comes to mind. What would you put in the Wii U's controller display? Edited July 4, 2011 by mr_musica
JonMorocco
I think it would be more troublesome than useful. I would just be to complicated, especially to anyone trying to adapt from one console to the Wii U or vice-versa.
jnzooger
Click over to sniper, lift the controller to the screen, get a view of the sniper scope. Yeah, I could see that. Another thing is while driving, you could have it be the rear view mirror, or even the radio controls. There are so many things they could do with it, the only thing we know for sure is that Rockstar wouldn't let us down.
K^2
If they use the screen for anything, I'd like it to be the larger version of the radar. Having an actual high-resolution dynamic map would be very useful. Any other use is just a gimmick. Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns. Maxsbigbro
i think after a while we all get use to which buttons do what and we can do amazing things in game w/o having to look at the controller but using a Wii remote imo would be confusing and more life like. i mean on one side it would allow you to like shoot the weapon and hold the controller the same way as the character for more in-depthness. but on another after hours of holding your arms up (while maybe getting endurence exercise ) would probably get tiring. but would be cool none the less
bluesboyjr
As I posted in the old Wii U thread that went down the sh*tter, the touchscreen could be used for the same kind of gimmicky yet kinda cool minigames it was used for in GTA Chinatown Wars on DS, which included: Starting parked cars by forcing the ignition with a screwdriver, hotwiring them or hacking the immobiliser. Assembling a sniper rifle. Filling a molotov cocktail at a gas station. Operating a crane. Scratching a scratchcard. Giving someone a tattoo. Breaking open a keypad or padlock. Searching through a dumpster. etc. etc. Though I'm starting to doubt they'd go down that route. It could work quite well as a large mini-map. I could imagine them implementing a drop-down menu you can choose your current weapon from.
