Akavari
Hey guys, I'm working on a big GTA concept project set in a present-day Carcer City (the city from Manhunt). I'll be entering it in this contest and I was wondering if I can gather any bored people from Music Talk to help me with suggestions for radio station songs? As you can imagine, Carcer City will have a very dark theme so the music on the radio stations must reflect this. I have certain genres in mind to use, but I'm not fluent in all of them to know good song choices. Instead of having a soundtrack that is ripped from my iPod favorites or quickly slapped together without much love, I think having many different people contribute would be awesome. I will credit anyone who helps a reasonable amount! All you have to do is put forward 2 or three songs and your name will be in this concept when I post it! Okay, so here's what I got planned out... Alternative Rock/Garage Rock/Noise Rock: For this I'm feeling something similar to what Radio Broker sounded like, just a little rougher. Songs I had in mind: Treat Me Like Your Mother by the Dead Weather, , and . Dubstep: Dubstep pretty much personifies Carcer City with its filthy/gritty sound. This one is pretty easy to figure out; any song that sounds dirty and gruesome will pretty much do. However, I'd like to avoid the tastelessly heavy Dubstep that we all hate; you know, sounds like a broken chainsaw and has little to no musical value. Songs I had in mind: and Filth by Skream. Hardcore/Horrorcore Rap: I know there's been a boom with this style of rap recently, what with the OFWGKTA craze and all that, so hopefully this will come easy. Songs I had in mind: and . I know Yonkers would be the obvious choice for Tyler but I think French is just too gritty and industrial sounding to not use! Surf Rock: This one should be fun. Think Pulp Fiction style. Songs I had in mind: , , and everything in between! There, that's four stations to start. I will post more if people show interest in this idea, some more stations I have up my sleeve include Metal (haven't decided which subgenre to use yet, maybe thrash? or doom metal? something that hasn't been in GTA yet.), Punk (stuff suitable for neo nazi skinhead gangs), and Industrial (all I know of is like, Nine Inch Nails, so I'd need some guidance with this one). Also some traditional Electronic music (trance styled or something, not sure yet).

Akavari
Thanks, Craig! You got taste, how could I forget the Black Keys for the rock station? Sinister Kid will fit in nicely. Black Sabbath is one of my favorite but I don't know if it fits in, I was going more for contemporary. A couple of others you suggested I really like, though. You are the first person I'm crediting for music suggestions! Whatever I don't pick out, I can prolly recycle into another station so it doesn't go to waste. Like I think most of your dubstep suggestions are too mellow but they are still f*cking nice songs, I think I'll make a new station for general electronic music that I'll put them in. Anyone else? Feel free guys!
Rhoda
If you're struggling for genres, don't worry so much about repeating yourself. There's a reason R* stick with the same genres. I'd go with house, funk and jazz, and if you're feeling adventurous, try some metal. Below are four tracks of each, respectively. Root around Last.fm, YouTube and other websites to find similar artists that fit the mood you're chasing.
