Rucke
Im still seeing a fair number of job ads for environment modellers for North, maybe they have the final push on to get it all built. That or a few folk have jumped ship for fear of spending another 2 years modelling fences.... Or perhaps they are already working on a new game. It goes on and on. By now they probably even plan what the next GTA will be (the one that comes out after the upcoming one). Funny.
CookPassBabtridge
Youre right, they will most probably have a gameplan for the next, but modellers wont be involved in that, they will have to battle on with the current game. Building, tweaking, bug fixing, right along with the QA stuff.

Maxsbigbro
ive heard from diffrent people that they could announce it on GTA III's anniversery this year and then realese it early 2012, im a true beleiver in that theory so im saying 75-95% done since someone somewhere in R* surely was thinking of the next gta game after EFLC and IV Edited July 13, 2011 by Maxsbigbro
SmoothGetaway
I'd guess over 80% but I've said it before and I'll say it again. R* learned from GTA4 and won't be announcing anything until its all but done, and I mean done. If I were them I would do it that way simply to avoid the clamor the masses will be sure to stir up once an official announcement is made. This forum is sure to explode the minute it does happen. Kwandilibro
R* has been working on V for a while now. They started IV before SA was even released, and they probably did the same thing with V. The fact that they haven't told us anything about V, well, they've had other things to do. I'm going to guess 80-90%. Then we'll see a release sometime in 2012. I don't believe they need any more time than that, nor do I believe that they'll take any more time than that. People don't like to wait. That is, unless R*'s waiting for next gen consoles. Not sure when we'll be seeing those. Still though, I think R* will try to squeeze in one more GTA before next gen consoles arrive. No point in wasting RAGE, since they'll inevitably be cooking up a new engine for new consoles.
Psychotic Mind
I'd like to say about 90% if they started working on it in 2008, but there isn't much information to go on other than rumors and "leaks" which people are claiming to be fake.
Rich.
70-75% Got to keep in mind that Rockstar North did some work on Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire and of course, Agent.

GTAknowledge
I'm guessing around 80-85%. They have had a while now to work on it (around 3-4years), and it should be nearing the finishing stages.
TrevorSpeed914
From Rockstar's stubbornness, and Agent and other games in the works, I'd wager 10 - 20 percent. I'd like to believe they have it almost done, but I'm not going to be too hopeful. I can play other games, or (Check this) do other things with my life. What is it with the GTA forum mods all having a bug up their ass?

And I don't think Agent would really eat that much into their work for GTA V, especially since they don't need to create a new engine for V. Well, some people are willing to wait for the next console: I doubt the new consoles will come out as soon as some people predict. Some people just bought their PS3s, for God's sake! Like I said, I'd love to believe otherwise.
Algonquin Assassin
I reckon about 75% of the game is done, and a release in about a year. Just because of the fact that it's been 3 years now since IV was released, and we haven't had any official news yet. I don't see it taking them more than 4 years to develop it, and I think some official news will reach us before the end of the year. Agreed. Although I would be getting a bit concerned if they still didn't announce it by the end of the year. Like someone else said maybe they're holding out until GTA III's 10th anniversary? Maybe not exactly on the day, but sometime in October sounds plausible. I also really doubt they'll be waiting for the next gen consoles like some people have mentioned before. The PS3 and 360 are only what? halfway through their life span? I would give it in another 5-7 years before we even see a next gen console. There's not a chance R* will wait that long. I'm thinking it's around 80% done, but even with the other games that have come out it seems strange there hasn't even been a piece of information. We have to remember Agent is the only game R* North are developing and publishing themselves. RDR and LA Noire were joint productions and it looks like Max Payne 3 will be a joint production as well. It's not as if they've been flat out over the last 3 years developing all these games on their own. They're a huge developer (made up of many different studios) and should be able to handle the work load. Maybe they've chosen a different approach this time around? Who knows. mr_musica
I would think around 70-80% and my main doubt would be if they test the game before adding the voices considering the voice cast that has been mentioned before. If testing is with voices included that could be 80-85% I think. Although that doesn't mean that is near release. I work with software and know that usually, error correction takes more time that expected and usually developers schedule aroun 20% of the development process to correcting errors. Man, a 2012 E3 announcement with an August release date would be great, since we don't know anything by now.

Rede
I wouldn't be surprised if they had pushed the envelope too far and overstressed the abilities of the consoles and have had to spend time reworking the code.
zeppelincheetah
I'd say they're very early on still. GTA V isn't their main focus now, it's Agent. Agent will be Rockstar North's first non-GTA game since the original Manhunt (the sequel was developed by other studios in collaboration with North). Unlike Manhunt, which was released the year between Vice City and San Andreas, Agent will be a major game (I can't remember where I read that - in some article). Manhunt was a small game and seemed more like a little side project compared to Vice City that preceded it and San Andreas that succeeded it. So since Agent is a big game (meaning takes more development time) it will push the fifth generation of GTA back until after its release. If you look at the credits for Rockstar's two recent most games - Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire - Rockstar North is listed. So North's development was spread thin working on those games as well as their DLC, in addition to Agent. I'd guess the hype train for Agent will start in September or October and it'll be released next year on current gen consoles. Then the year after that will have DLC and maybe another Red Dead game. I'd say they'd start GTA V development in 2012 and release it in 2014, on next gen hardware. Maybe PlayStation 4 exclusive. 0-10% Edited July 8, 2011 by zeppelincheetah

Northeern
I personally hope 70-80 %. Well, we have heard from Gamespot that GTA V has minigames added to it, if it was a reliable source that gave this information to Gamespot, then it should be ready for an announcement pretty soon. mgad! f*ck Agent! First, I thought it was going to be pretty cool and all that stuff, but now.. If it takes that much time for R* North to develop this game, then why not cancel it? (btw, I own a PS3 so do not think that I am a Xbox fanboy since Agent is a PS3 exclusive) sh*tbox, hihi
mr_musica
Didn't know that agent was PS3 exclusive, maybe that's why they have delayed that much, they maybe are working on it on spare time hehehe (I own a PS3 but let's face it, PS3 exclusive is less sales than PS3, Sh*tbox360 and PC)
Gangsta-NL
If those rumours are true which said that R* is implementing the minigames, then I'd say 80-90%. But 80-90% would mean they wouldve announced the game. To be honest, I think 60-70%
