homedepo20
I have a Acer aspire ax3400g-u4802 Windows 7 64 bit. AMD athlon llx2 244 dual core 3.1ghz 4gb memory 1tb GeForce 9200 Gta iv runs, quite slow atm. I thought it would run good, on this new system....... runs games like FSX on high settings.. What exactly would i need to upgrade? Thanks in advance
YankeesPwnMets
FSX is pretty nicely optimized. I've never really seen people complain about performance issues on FSX As for GTA IV, you need a new graphics card. You really should have asked us at GTAForums before you bought the computer if you wanted to run GTA IV. Most companies still sell outdated hardware on their new machines. Just because the thing is new doesn't mean it'll run GTA IV. You made the same mistake most other newbies who come here make. "Oh I got a new computer so it should GTA IV with good performance"
homedepo20
To be honest, i got this comp for a good price, i figured i would have to upgrade one or two things, but still saved a lot! i got this for 200. i think its a nice comp for that price, but anyways, do you have any suggestions on a new graphics card? YankeesPwnMets
According to TigerDirect this thing has a 220 Watt power supply, which is too low for any modern graphics card today. I think that you would have probably saved more buying a $800 system no upgrades needed then a $200 system with upgrades. 90% of the time these pre built systems that people buy need a lot more then two things upgraded. If your case won't support a standard sized ATX power supply and your motherboard doesn't have a spare PCI Express x16 slot, then your just gonna need to get a new computer in general. If your case does support a standard size PSU and your board has a spare x16 slot, then the PSU needs to by upgraded and you need a new graphics card. unc13bud
9200 is an onboard video chipset. i had xfx 9300 with q6600 and it was still pitiful, because it has like only 8 shader units maybe. assuming the motherboard has standard mounting for an atx case, the photos on tigerdirect look like itx or something else... you could get: rosewill case = $29 or $19 depending on newegg sale seasonic bronze supply 300w = $40 (or an antec $25 after rebate) xfx gt 240 = $35 after rebate or you could try to find this somewhere: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814162016 that original power supply is a 220w, but acer usually uses half decent power supplies like delta and hi-pro edit: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2009/06/08/...er_lowprofile/5 http://www.goldfries.com/hardware-reviews/...ic-card-review/ Edited July 5, 2011 by unc13bud
