The Petrovic Family

I personally would say stick to one gang permanently. It will be very hard to keep both gangs balanced, and nobody wants to be on the weaker team. You saw how quickly it fell to pieces the first time, and it would be much harder to maintain the story and both teams/families at the same time. I also don't get how you would manage the competition between the 2. Can the Petrovics kill anybody on the Gambetti's? and vice versa? Wouldn't make sense for them not to kill each other, and at the same time it would also kind of suck if you were killed. Plus the 2 heads of the families would need to be in constant contact and develop the story together otherwise there would be inconsistancies or contradictions.

There just seems to be so many potential problems for 2 different families who are in competition with each other. Sorry I don't mean to be a buzz kill or try and ruin it, it just seems to me like it wouldn't work as well as 1 family would. I'd support 2 families if that's what you went for, but I really do think 1 is easier, simpler and ultimately more fun for all those involved. Just my opinion.

I don't mind addressing some of these concerns. It's better we work out where everyone stands on any possible new features before proceeding with them.

Personally, I think gangs should stand only as strong or as weak as their writers make them. Of course, no one organization should be allowed to create a dictatorship in which they will run the whole game map. They should run a set of rackets, they should build them up and then only over time should they expand what they create. A set balance isn't so important when the dynamic of the game is ever changing. For me, that's the main pull for operating within an open story from the two perspectives; the tide doesn't have to roll in just the one direction. It seems to me to be a lot more involving and engaging than do this job, do that job, repeat.

I also don't get how you would manage the competition between the 2. Can the Petrovics kill anybody on the Gambetti's? and vice versa? Wouldn't make sense for them not to kill each other, and at the same time it would also kind of suck if you were killed.

While it's perfectly reasonable for their to be consequences for a group pissing where they shouldn't, the aim of the game shouldn't revolve around waiting to see who out of the Gambettis and Petrovics mauls the other's throat out first. The competition shouldn't be limited to just the Italians and the Russians - there are numerous gangs across Liberty City and Alderney to pick a feud with, to aim to weaken and absorb. That's why I would favour dealing with any conflict between player gangs diplomatically, with the role of the Don and the Pakhan being to mediate between one another any bad blood between the groups and those members below them and not to let any events spiral out of control.

My opinion on killing is that no, one gang should not be able to kill anybody on the other. This should bear on rank; once a player graduates from the rank of associate, they're immune from any unsanctioned violence. If an associate creates a problem with a man of status on the other side, that person is open to elimination. The main reason I would favour this is to stop anyone coming in and f*cking things up, which outright solves one of the major issues.

Another thing I would like to bring to the table is associates being able to co-operate with both the Italians and Russians when performing jobs as a prospective soldier. When the player is inducted into one of the organizations, they should be allowed to freely collaborate with the other - be it taking outsourced jobs or creating something with a fellow player - although they would not be allowed to rise above that rank of associate as they're formally a part of another outfit. This might help to even things out when it comes to numbers and spawn a possible ally instead of an enemy.

Plus the 2 heads of the families would need to be in constant contact and develop the story together otherwise there would be inconsistancies or contradictions.

I see your point in this, but I would like to place my trust in common sense. We're all mature here. We should all make ourselves aware of one another's actions and respect them, and it would be the Don's and the Pakhan's job to ensure there would be no contradictions in actions. After all, it's they who provide the tasks. The administrative side of things would take a lot of personal responsibility and that I believe is why Mati is taking his time in deciding whether a second gang will be included and if so, who will take charge in it. If this does go through, all I can ask for is a mutual respect between everyone involved and all will have their share of the fun.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

Damn it... I was working on a vehicle list but have lost it all. I might skip it for now and release a V1.9 first.

it's worth it, at least that way you can build on it based on feedback

Version 1.9 has been applied.

Change log:

- New rules (thanks to GTA_stu for help)

- Applications (every member must fill it in, doesn't matter if you make a new character or not)

- The Family updated (TABLE NEEDS FIXING!) Each member has now money and property, along with their name that will link to the application. If your job count or name is in ''()'', then its from your previous character.

- Structure updated (thanks to Tyla). Depending on your rank, you will have to give an amount of money as a tribute.

- New money system. Alex (C4C) is the arms dealer, for other things you want to buy, contact me.

- Events updated. Important events will be listed there, same as Special Jobs. One special job updated that needs the whole family.

Feedback is a must, tell me what to change/add.

I'm going to apply with the character I conceived previously. I actually had him based within the prison, so maybe I can weigh in on this prison break mission from behind bars?

I like the money system so far. What could possibly be added are specials: Perks, like Mercenaries (Dwayne's Backup) and Bomb Expert (Packie's Ability) that can be bought for a set fee. We must pay the cost for each time we take advantage of these services.

in place of Mercenaries, how about hiring Family members straight from the flock? for example, have a list of generic Russian names and a price which can serve as the items, so if you need back up, you say:

I'd like to hire Oleg and Vitaly for one job.

each thug would be priced at a set amount (say $500 for instance) so the total of that job would cost you $1000 for the two thugs, which would be taken out of your earnings.

Didn't you get the hint Arsen Vitiuk? Your agent shenanigans ruined it last time, enough of this agent bullsh*t please. It interferes too much with the story and doesn't suit it. Also your guy is 25, but born in 1960?

I like the new system, particlarly the money part where we can purchase safehouses and things. So do we get a fee for every job we complete? And what other ways can we make money? Maybe there could be a cap on the amount we earn per week, to balance the money sytem out a bit and balance the game overall. There needs to be a little expansion on certain things, namely the rules. It's a very nice start though.

Could there be weapon customization? Like purchasing silencers, extended magazines, laser sights, scopes, etc. Those things would normally be imbalanced in-game but since this is all roleplaying then it could work pretty well. I'm more than willing to add to the gun selection at the store too. I'm quite a gun nut smile.gif

Should there be some sort of 'bank' to keep tab on how much money everyone has? Maybe there could be like an accountant/consigliere rank that would handle those responsibilities; sounds rather fitting.

I'm gonna brainstorm a new character in the meantime.. D:

I was thinking of advertising special weapons, for example an M4A1 with M203, a silenced Glock etc and give them a deadline to be purchased by, seeing as I'm weapons dealer, the buyer would have to PM within a certain amount of days requesting to buy a special before time runs out. I havent yet run this idea past Mati however, but I thought I might aswell bring it while we're on the subject.

That sounds cool, you could have like a different load of special weapons every week or so.

EDIT: What about vehicles? Are we gonna have to buy them too? Everyone could start with a beater Vigero/Emperor and work their way up to a nice luxury car.

The title page layout could do with a little more organising to make it more streamlined. You could add more categories and sub categories. e.g. :

The family

- a brief history of the petrovic family

- a brief explanation of our current postion and standing (this could be added to as the story progresses)

- the structure of the organisation

- list of the members

- want to join our respected family? (application form)

The operations

- our businesses/property (a list of what property we own, e.g. the perestroika or the villa in firefly)

- the activities (a list of which crimes we partake in, pretty much the current "the business" part)

- a brief description of how the missions work

The economy system

- brief overview

- list of weapons with prices

- list of cars with prices

- list of average guide prices for houses (eg small house $50,000. medium house $200,00. Large house $500,000. (Then you (mati) give a more exact figure if someone appraoches you with a request to buy a certain safehouse.) Or (I don't know the exact system for safehouses you're going with) you could just give a list of which safehouses are currently available with prices, this would probably be easiest and simplest method.

Events

-major/urgent jobs

-specialist jobs

-general jobs which are always available and always pay the same

That's just some examples of how you could reorganise it a bit to make it easier to navigate. A major category like "the family" would be distinguishable from the sub categories like "A brief history of the petrovic family". You could have a larger font/different font/different colour, or a combination of the 3 to achieve the distinction between them. These are just a few examples, feel free to use them how you want or add change them a bit. Hope it helps.

Wow, here we go:

@Tyla: Doesn't sound bad, but I don't think it would be necessary. C4C's character has a few friends who can provide him some.

@C4C: Similar to the post above, I may do it some time, but I'm just lazy tounge.gif

@Akavari: As long as you do it tounge.gif

@GTA_stu:

- Not bad, I'll do it some time.

- That would be too large I think, I mean we do it in all games. Not sure about this one.

- That's how I planned it actually, but I'll add another category. Special things will be available for purchase but I won't list them. Special things will be anything you need for your job, from explosives to f*cking EMP air strikes, you will name whatever you want and I give it a price.

- It works well as it is right now, open jobs payments will differ.

@Arsen: I'm sorry but your application is declined.

Ok we need to make a plan to break the Pakhan out. We have 1 infernus, and a bunch of AK's. Now, the infernus will be the getaway car but we need a driver. I'd put myself forward but I'm not a great driver, and that's what we need. So, any volunteers?

I was thinking we steal a van, pack it with explosives, then get a tramp high on drugs and make him drive it into the front gate. Then we go in guns blazin' and get the Pakhan the f*ck out of there. That's my idea, it's pretty basic but we don't have much time so we need to act pretty soon. If you have a different plan you think might be better by all means share it. We still need to plan an escape for the rest of us because we can't all fit in that infernus. We also have an inside man in the form of Resta Falcone, he could be very useful. What do you guys think?

Committing dozens of contract killings, he eluded Russian authorities for years with the skillful use of counter-forensics and body disposal methods. Whilst laying low in Czechoslovakia, he allegedly arranged to have facial reconstruction surgery performed on himself for a new identity, earning himself a reputation as a master of disguise. By the mid 2000s, he had immigrated to the U.S. with fake documents and already began muscling his way into Liberty City's crime families as a freelance contract killer. Allow me to propose a blaze, set from behind these very walls.

With access to the prison kitchen, the necessary agents to build a fire of a severe proportion can be acquired with a relative ease. Hacks will evacuate one population at a time to the courtyard directly west of the prison gate. Here the Pakhan can be met and secured. The attending fire crew will require access from the gate, allowing a direct route in for the team otherwise very difficult to obtain.

This sounds like the best idea so far. You could leave the oven gas on for a period of time to create the conflagration.

@Stu: I'm not a reliable getaway driver, I would be more suited taking point with an AK47 and laying down suppressive fire.

That's nice thinking Falcone, it will give us easier access to the Pakhan and yourself. I'll need to look into it to find out the nearest fire station to the facility (unless anybody else knows?) but if we hijack the fire engine shortly after it leaves the station and take the uniforms we'll sneak in without any problems. Once inside we'll need to park the truck in the gateway so they can't close it to prevent us escaping. Another van can then pull up and assist the fire crew team in assaulting the facility and making their way to the Pakhan.

When we secure the Pakhan we'll contact the infernus driver who will be near by, to pull up to the front entrance. We'll then get the Pakhan safely in the infernus. I estimate we'll need about 12 guys for this task:

-the infernus driver

-the fire crew (4-6)

-the support van (4-6)

-a fast but sturdy sports car (sultan RS) to follow the Pakhan's infernus and ensure his safe escape (2-4)

When the Pakhan is in the infernus he and the support Sultan RS will make off on their own. The assault team and Falcone will then escape in the van (it will be a very tight squeeze in there) creating 2 objectives for the police to follow, splitting their resources. Does this sound good to everyone?

Dragan, ok that's fair enough. How about you lead the support van crew? I can lead the fire crew, we still need a good driver for the infernus though, we need an actual Petrovic man on this, not a hired gun. Mr Alex hopefully will be in contact soon, maybe he can take this role. If push comes to shove I can fill in as the infernus driver though.

If they were online right now, then we would surely let them give the orders. confused.gif

I can sort out a team for the van support, no problem. I'll hook up some heavy firepower to compensate for the van's poor handling. Any cops on our ass will get shredded off of the road. C4C and his crew should be capable of hijacking the fire truck, or I'm sure he would enjoy wheeling a slick supercar. Looks like we got most of this figured out now, all we need is confirmation from everyone.

Good to go. The moment the situation escalates, ASCF will access their direct line to the Fire Department in Tudor. The ensuing inferno should be enough to smoke out the entire north wing, forcing us out onto the courtyard. Here I will make contact with the Pakhan, ensuring his safe extraction into the hands of our crew as pandemonium breaks out amongst the inmates.

Need conformation on when to start this blaze, but otherwise I'm good to act. icon14.gif

consider the fire truck pretty much ours; and I'll happily stay a bit gunshy for this job, I'll extract Pakhan with the Infernus while you boys give me some covering fire. get someone behind the wheel of the Big Red and I'll make sure Matias gets out of there in one piece. where will be the safe zone?

I think we should each handle different tasks; for example my write up will start halfway through the job, whereas everyone elses will be from a different perspective, so if we all handle our jobs, so Tyla should kickstart it and then the next person follows on until it gets to the escape, in which I can write up.
