DecimusKrieg
Hi, I'm new to this forum, so forgive me if I'm not meant to start a new topic because of this. But I thought you guys might find this interesting. On the pre-order list for one of the main UK game retailers (you can probably guess which, I'm not going to state it) the title 'GTA V' was listed as being due for March 2012. I don't know how accurate this is, but at least it gives some indication as when it's roughly due for. Because the main guys at Rockstar have signed new contracts, I'm sure delays will be inevitable. But to be honest, this time seems a bit more realistic than the rumour of January, as no major games are released just after the Christmas period. I think April/May time would seem feasible, as it would also be a similar time to GTA4. Thanks for your time, Decimus Krieg.
Ryan
Please post where you saw this. Not everyone from around the world is familiar with UK game retailers, and without backing up your claim of where you saw it, it's just BS.
DecimusKrieg
It was on the Game (the company is just called Game) pre-order list. They're the UKs largest high street retailer for computer and video games. I cannot state that their release date is verbatim, no one but Rockstar can, but because it's such a large company, I'm sure it counts for something. GTA_stu
I'm from the UK and even I don't know which one you mean. And it doesn't mean anything, they've probably just done it because it's common knowledge that it is in production now (we can be 99.9% sure) so they want to start getting money for the pre-orders. Retailers do it for all games. And they just put the release date as March 2012 because it's not too far away, it seems fairly plausible and they want to entice more pre-orders. DecimusKrieg
You live in the UK and you've never heard of Game? o.O http://www.game.co.uk/ There's their site. They do do it for all games, but they're very rarely too inaccurate when it comes to release dates, only ever by a few months or so. I just thought this information might be of interest, like I say, I'm not saying that date is dead on, it just might give a indication of when it may come out. DecimusKrieg
No, there's no link on there. The release date was given on the pre-order sheet that is used by their staff.
GTA_stu
You live in the UK and you've never heard of Game? Of course I have, but I didn't know they were the top games retailer. It could've been Gamestation or one of the big supermarkets like Tesco. Anyways what was with the "I'm not going to state it" do you think they'd sue you or something for mentioning their name? alisguitar88
GAME is the biggest computer game shop in the UK, behind Gamestation. If you play games at all, you'll know who GAME are. They rarely do any good deals though so tend to stay away and buy elsewhere. If you're certain it was on a pre-order sheet, then it could be true. Only one problem though - it would have been leaked by now, as all GAME stores would surely have this list.

In terms of sole games retailers, yes they're the biggest, especially seeing as they now own Gamestation, which is why you'll see less difference in their prices. No, I just didn't want to mention their name wish I hadn't have bothered posting it on here, I'm not too fussed about contesting the validity of their release date claim, I just thought it might be of interest to some people. How can be this interesting if u can't even mention their name or atleast u should scan the list? where's the evidence? Well I did mention the name, and the reasons I can't scan the list are two-fold. One, because I don't work there, I just know some of the people there who do at my local store, including a good friend who showed me the list. So I can't exactly ask to take the list in order for me to scan just for the benefit of some people who I've never even met before on a forum online. Two, it's just a list of pre-orders, there's nothing special about it, just a plain sheet of A4 with lists of games and their estimated release time. So even if I could be bothered to get the list, scan it, and post it up here, judging from some peoples responses already, and because to be fair it would be easily faked, all I'd get would be accusations that it was fake. So no, I'm not giving you any 'evidence' quite frankly because you'd just bitch about that too. Like I said, I would doubt the accuracy of the exact month of release, but this linked with the news from gamespot indicating that GTAV is well under way and according to them 'finishing touches' are being made to it, then it would actually make sense. So if you want, take my word for it (that's all I'm offering), if not just bitch about it all you want, I don't give a sh*t about your opinion, I was just trying to add some info that might be of slight interest. The post title stated what the subject was... emphasis on 'alleged'.

HeNDo6750
Hi i have looked at GAME and i can not find anything about GTA V on the preorder list at all so if this is a joke, its not very good one. And stop wasting time people's time please. And the only website that i have seen so far that has mention GTA V possible release date is GameSpot and not GAME. No, the OP said it was on the list circulated to staff... not on the website. He effectively says himself that a scan/photo of the list would be meaningless as it could easily be faked. Personally I think we'll see more of these announcements appearing as GTAV makes its way onto various stock systems via a preorder placeholder, that's not an unusual occurence in the 12-month period before a game release. Could it be that retailers start charging for games even when for any reason they could be cancelled? how would they manage a situation if they have, for example, sold 100 copies of GTAV and suddenly it gets cancelled ? offer another game? free giveaways of AGENT maybe It's not that I don't believe you, but it seems unfair to me to start making money without signed contracts. Unfair with gamers to be more precise.

Well I'm glad there are a few intelligent people on here who understand what I wrote. As for the way pre-orders work, I'm not sure, I don't work for GAME, they'd probably just give a refund, but usually, you just get it when its released, delay or no delay. Yeah, there won't be anything on the website, like I said, it was for employees, not customers. I think that's simple enough to understand. Furthermore, to the others who doubt what I'd said, I've got no reason to falsify information, otherwise why would I offer my own doubts as to the actual release date? I'm just trying to impart some information which may give a rough indication of the games release date, NOT to waste anyone's time, least of all my own! Thanks. DK. MikeWh
An ex of mine had the hard task of delivering GTA IV back in 2008, for the delivery network TNT. They weren't told what it was but you knew, it was delivered under the name "Smoking Barrels", if he hadn't had to open the palette to get to the docket he'd not have known what it was. Normally the game retailers know what to expect, but don't know when it arrives. GTA IV was delivered a week in advance and had a strict instruction not to be opened before the release date. Obviously in some places this system is abused mind. Chances are that Game are just speculating.
