LA Noire IS using RAGE; I modded it on PS3 (having fun with handlings & physics). You can extract the files that you're talking about easily, just smally decrypted.

They just don't use Euphoria.

The 30 FPS cap i'm pretty sure it's because of the faces. As it's videos played on the face. To avoid sync problem . They capped it.

RAGE seems to not have MSAA support like BF3 or latest UE3 engine(Deferred rendering)

Not yet still.

 

Can't wait to get a PC to check what modifications they did on PC ;D

It's been said a million times and I'll say it once more, L.A. Noire DOES NOT use RAGE. The only connections to RAGE it has are a couple of programmers from the RAGE team helped TeamBondi with the engine from time to time and on the PC the Social Club runtimes (which are compiled and ran separately from the game just like G4WL or Steam) are from the RAGE SDK. The engine for L.A. Noire is an in-house engine using the Lightsprint middleware for lighting and Havok for physics. Not sure what files you're talking about, the .big files have no resemblance to RPFs.

Vanni, sorry I haven't replied to your PM,I have been ill for the last few days.

 

I like what you are doing but I don't like the DOF, too strong IMHO.

Also, you have your shadows too dark.

For example, look at the waste bin next to the taxi, it looks as if it's stood in shadow, dark shadow. It should be bright, not almost black.

 

To show you what I mean, I took that pic and had a play with a avisynth script and HDRAG, and upped the show brightness, this is what I came up with.

Notice the waste bin is better, although still a bit too dark.

 

Ice, completely agree with what you said. Too many close ups of high-poly shiny cars and a few go nuts here. Packet should have a temporary car embargo for the next 20+ pages.
