MolotovMic33
Hi. this is my first post on any forum for a long time, so I hope my post is in the right place. I recently installed GTA IV on my laptop, which has these specs. ACER Aspire 6930 Intel Core DUO CPU T6400 @ 2 GHz 4.00 GB of RAM Windows 7 Ultimate 2009, 64 bit Nvidia GEFORCE 9600 M GT I can run the game with pretty slack settings, and get between 25 - 30 fps at the best of times (55fps on the loading screens) But, after between 10-25 minutes I drop right to 1/2 fps, and my laptop (which is roughly 2.5/3 years old) becomes vastly unresponsive, until I manage to minimize GTA and let the cpu drop from 100% to around 50 (all used by GTA IV). I use power saving and reduce the settings even more, but to no avail. Also, completely unrelated topic, I have both the episodes and GTA IV, and when installing I didn't get prompted to activate episodes and a message said that the Rockstar social club wasn't needed to install games. I was then told to sign in with my Windows Live account, which I did, but when I click to 'play' episodes I'm prompted by Windows Live to buy the game? I've patched and downloaded the social club several times, but it doesn't ever prompt me to activate. Any help on either issue would be greatly appreciated, sorry again if my post finds itself in the wrong section. Mic
mkey82
You problem could be fixed by memrestrict or it's about overheating, where CPU automatically protects itself by reducing the core speed. If the latter is the case, there won't be any easy solutions.
YankeesPwnMets
Download this program: http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ And run it in the background. Then, start GTA IV and when it freezes, check the "High" section in the program for the highest temperature. Tell us what that temperature is
