baptiste
Wow. Just wow. Bitching about a 12 hour work day? At least they have a f*cking job! My job has required numerous 12 hour work days, weekends and 12-14 hour work days...plus an 8 hour work day and then being moved to another location because I was needed to work another 5 hours. As of recently, I went back to school for a period of time while working full time and after I completed my courses, I got another duty piled on top of what I already do. Woe is me. But you know what? I'm grateful I have a great job where I am needed! They can't just replace me so frequently it's required that I bust my ass. I remember working 26 days in a row which included a 14 hour day plus a couple 12 hour days and nothing under 8 hours. Seriously. Cry more. I was just about to say this. Not to mention this is 14 hours a day of GAME DEVELOPMENT, they aren't exactly doing any heavy lifting, or intense physical labor. Game development, now that's real strenuous activity. Both of you are a disgrace. Working in a studio is tons more stressfull and tiring than any manual labor. Moreover the pay is average as best, I dont see where this idea of devs getting payed gold comes from.

Engioc
NOt entirely on topic here but just interested hearing this news since just recently Eden games also took strike action against Atari mismanagement while working on TDU2.

Mismanagement is not a foreign concept to game developers, the only reason Team Bondi's case is so special is because McNamara took his mismanagement to the next level. Have you ever bought anything from china? I would say that the majority of products from there are being manufactured for dirt cheap paying labourers the "dollar a day" wage. It might have been made under bad conditions on the workers, but i would rather enjoy myself, than attempt to boycott the company, which in the end would achieve little, and if everyone did that, would probably leave the Devs without a job, stressful or not i think they would rather quit out of choice, rather than being forced out of the industry and having a bad reputation for creating games that did not sell well. If they can't preform to company standards and if they can't handle the stress then they are in the wrong line of work. They should be grateful for their job, perhaps they should look into joining another developer. With that being said, the boss's outrages in the Australian Team Bondi group were completely uncalled for.

You cant just say "they have to deal with it because its their line of work". Thats terrible reasoning.

Heh, sorry for the late reply. I'm of the camp that piracy actually has a positive effect for the games involved, so no, I won't be pirating either. I'm old and have little spare time. I suppose that affords me the luxury to be choosy.
