Zee
http://www.develop-online.net/news/38125/I...am-Bondi-crunch It seems both the development of LA Noire and Red Dead Redemption were sevrely mis-managed, which confirms my suspiscions about why GTA5 is so late. R* needs to actually stop using coke and hookers every night and do some work, instead of abusing its workers and taking advantage of its fans and supporters and milking them dry. just my 2 cents. Itll be interesting how this turns out
MiamiVice1984
I also heard some rumors about R* being lacy and not working as much as they should.

GTA_stu
Well it only mentions Team Bondi, which is independent of R*. So it shouldn't really affect R* or GTA.
OverTheBelow
Hope this is not going to affect the pc version of L.A Noire or the next gta. As far as I know, the PC port isn't being done by Team Bondi. Rockstar Leeds is doing it.
outlaw46
Hey, if you don't want to be a part of amazing games, then go work somewhere else. Otherwise, quit complaining! It's the year 2011 for crying out loud, we're past that time in history where you could only ever work for one company. And besides, if enough people get fed up with the "treatment" they're receiving and they all quit, then their company would be forced to "tone down" the work environment so they could keep their employees happy. That's the beauty of working for a private company. They have to have employees to make money...so...no employees = no game = no money. They'll "change their ways" if enough people are bothered by the conditions.
TargetTango
The happens everywhere in the gaming industry. They often work overtime and weekends with tight deadlines, it's defiantly not surprising to work more than 60 hours a week as a game developer/programmer. Duxfever
I doubt this is the reason GTA V is taking as long as it is. I want to prove my point but I honestly don't know how to put it in words, lol.
ajrunke
Wow. Just wow. Bitching about a 12 hour work day? At least they have a f*cking job! My job has required numerous 12 hour work days, weekends and 12-14 hour work days...plus an 8 hour work day and then being moved to another location because I was needed to work another 5 hours. As of recently, I went back to school for a period of time while working full time and after I completed my courses, I got another duty piled on top of what I already do. Woe is me. But you know what? I'm grateful I have a great job where I am needed! They can't just replace me so frequently it's required that I bust my ass. I remember working 26 days in a row which included a 14 hour day plus a couple 12 hour days and nothing under 8 hours. Seriously. Cry more. Not quite, if they all leave - they are held responisble for breaking their contract. It's easy [and from a legal standpoint, gives you a lot more leverage] if you; 1st complain about the conditions, 2nd get fired for complaing, 3rd start a lawsuit for bad conditions AND wrongful termination. It's the American way.
Ryan
This really has nothing to do with GTA V, so I'm going to move this to Gaming Chat.

They'll "change their ways" if enough people are bothered by the conditions. The issue was with the sketchy lines in their contracts that made it to where if they left the team before the game's three month release anniversary they'd get nothing for overtime in which dozens worked 100+ hour work weeks and got frustrated from the abuse and quit. Imagine if you were a deli worker and your boss pressured you into working overtime and then you get so stressed out the only way you wont do something stupid would be to quit. then boom find out you dont get your overtime bonuses. I'd be f*cking livid. Thats some shady sh*t. like some one else said, Rockstar doesnt own Team Bondi at all. They are an Independant studio. CryptReaperDorian
I've heard on the news recently that the average video game developer makes $90,000 a year. But if this trend continues I doubt anyone will want to work for them anymore. i wouldnt be surprised either... lots of the dev team were Australlians and Australia has a fledgling game industry so with the spread of word of their mistreatment it probably wont end to well for Team Bondi. They're probably going to see the talent pool shrink considerably down in the Land Down Under.

BGModder
lol 12 hours? I know people who have to work 16 hours a day, and they're not sitting making video games. Hell, workers in poor countries regularly work 18-20 hours and sleep at their workplace. Also, LOL at that pic Indi. posted. Seriously...they're whining about making big bucks developing video games? 12 hour work days? Boo f*cking hoo. It's the field they went in to. They should consider themselves lucky and privileged to be working for the company(s) they are and pulling in huge salaries. You expect to be sitting in front of computers for long hours when you go into this and no doubt there are going to be deadlines for things just like many many other jobs. They could always join a more lax company, but then they wouldn't be making as much either. With popular companies, you have a lot of expectations on you for your nice paycheck. Duxfever
Probably their wives not getting any action in the bedroom, or Brendan is being framed, any evidence? If so, Cole Phelps will bust yo' ass. Very ironic that a team of devs who created a detective game, are now being detected... heh. Lol, the thread title made this all the way better. I've heard on the news recently that the average video game developer makes $90,000 a year. If I was making that much money, then I wouldn't complain about working twelve hours a day. I wouldn't either. But then you or I would see how much others make (i.e. more), and since people just love making comparisons these days, they'd start to get a little greedy and ask for more. But, of course, each to his/her own.

Yeah exactly this, 12hr days aren't really a big deal, that is pretty well part of the package at any game company, it probably was a bit over the top with yelling and things, but if you can't handle it quit. I make video games. They're personal statements for me. I write them, I direct them, I put the technology together to make them Theres your reason for the yelling. I received a reprimand for 'conduct and punctuality' for being 15 minutes late to work. I arrived at 9:15am – despite the fact I had only left work around 3:15am the same day, and paid for my own taxi home! I have never heard of bosses in the game industry giving everyone fuel money, so why is he complaining, and if your late, your late. "People don't work any longer hours than I do. I don't turn up at 9am and go home at 5pm, and go to the beach. I'm here at the same hours as everybody else is. We're making stuff that's never been made before," he said. Brendan is doing it just as tough as the other guys, except he has to manage everything! no wonder he is a little cranky. This happens at every game company. Just because you like R*'s games doesn't mean you should let them get away with anything. ''AT LEAST DEY HAVE JAWBS'' yeah, and at least child prostitutes have jobs as well, right? What kind of sh*tty defense is that? Hey, if you don't want to be a part of amazing games Those f*cking slaves didn't want to be a part of an amazing country damn traitors. What sh*tty defenses, both of you. The R* ass kissing is palpable. As for the actual claims; 12 hours towards the end of development isn't rare, actually. I've herad much, much worse. For taxis (so you won't be late after 18-hour shift?), burgers and pizza with coffee? Edited July 1, 2011 by Street Mix
