Sam998
So when I first got my computer (Dell "Inspiron mini") the charger worked fine. But now it seems to slowly deteriorate. Earlier I just had to twist the charger and move the computer a little bit but now that's not working. I essentially have to spend 5 or so minutes trying to get my computer into a working position. So do I need a new charger, new computer (hopefully not) or is there something else I can do? Thanks in advance
Stinky12
If you need to twist the wires on your charger may indicate it's the charge that's no good, but if it's the charger port inside your Dell that is no good, you will need to get that replaced. You can try do is see if any of your friends has a Dell which uses the same type of charger and borrow his to see if the problem still exist. If not, then it's your charger. if yes it could be the charger port or something else.
d00d
Laptop pins and chargers are common faults in laptops. Take it to a shop or someone with IT knowledge - they'll have the equipment to tell you which is the problem, but it isn't what you'd exactly call cheap to fix. In the UK replacing a charger is about £40, a charging pin is about £70 depending on the model.

Is there anyway to find out? @Stinky- To my knowledge, no one I know has this type of computer. Thanks though.
d00d
When you plug in the charger, does the power block have a small light that usually lights up? Of course if this doesn't light up, its the charger. If it does, it could be the end of the other cable. Have a look at the pin in the middle of the charge port on the laptop (if it has a pin). If it wobbles/is loose in any way, its most likely that. Like I said its one or the other so if you don't have a friend in the IT field take it to a shop anyway and they'll diagnose and fix it for you, at a cost though. Sam998
Ah thanks. It seems that the charger doesn't always light up, and when it does it starts charging. So I think that's it. Thank you so much for the help, I really appreciate it.
Wolf68k
Just get a new charger. If the laptop charges if the new one then you found the problem. If it doesn't charge with the new charger then you still found your problem.
